This was my second time staying at Alma Tulum - the first time was 4 years ago and it was great. This time was such a disappointment. The rooms were worn out with stains on the bed linens, dust on the floors and surfaces, and mosquito nets with holes and broken tie-downs. However, the main issue was the massive bug infestation (gnats, mosquitoes, and roaches). At night, the bugs and bites were insane. We told the front desk and emailed photos to the hotel manager asking for help. They sent in housekeeping with a can of RAID while we left the room for dinner. We returned to thousands of dead bugs all over the bed and floors and live ones flying around. The next night we asked if there was anything they could do and the manager said "I have bugs in my house too" and that they would spray RAID again. After two nights of trying to make do with the situation, we asked to checkout on our third night and were met with 'we have a no refund policy and would not even refund you if there was a massive hurricane - that is our policy.' Our email to the owner never received a reply. We checked out anyway as we could no longer sleep with bugs biting and breathing in RAID chemicals for a third night (in an eco hotel). Because of their lack of care and concern, I am posting this review so that no one else gets caught by their "no refund policy". Re COVID, not one staff member wore a mask during the whole stay (front desk, waiters, kitchen staff, housekeeping - no masks).

This was our first time in Alma Tulum for our honeymoon. We had the greatest time. The room was excellent and so romantic. We were surprised with rose petals and champagne. The breakfast is amazing. As well as the lunch and dinner. The fish tacos are bomb!!! The lobster and seafood dish is to die for!!! Carlos, Jorge, Gabriel & Franco have made our stay so memorable! They have provided the best service. We will definitely be coming back! They made our stay so comfortable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALMA TULUM!! ❤️❤️❤️

What makes this hotel memorable is Carlos, Franco at the restaurant and the maintenance crew. Carlos and Franco are a team who make your mornings and stay fun, entertaining and make you feel at home. There sense of humor and attention to detail makes you feel even that more at home. If it was not for them being here my stay would have been just another stay.

We arrived at night and were quickly taken to our room facing the ocean on the second floor. The area is not well lit so it was easy to trip when first navigating the path and it would have been helpful if the receptionist pointed out steps and branches as we were escorted to our room. The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were excellent and friendly. They make a great cappuccino. We had some problems with the air conditioner so we were moved to another room the next day and given smoothies for our trouble. What we like best about Alma Tulum was the peace and quiet it offered. When we searched for a place we looked for something peaceful and directly on the beach. However, after about 4 days, we were relaxing on the beach when suddenly techno music started to be blasted right behind all the lounge chairs. Everyone in the vicinity moved to chairs further away or just packed up and left. We went to our rooms to escape the noise and ended up having to leave the hotel after being told twice by the reception that the man playing the music would turn it down. It was loud in our room as well. The only person who seemed to enjoy it was the "DJ", apparently the owner. Anyway, we ended up walking down the beach after being told by reception that “all the hotels play music on Saturdays”. Luckily, she was wrong and we found many places that were either quiet or had music at lower decibels. There was much to like about this place but we will not return.

Absolutely fantastic time here in the Alma Suite! It was our 25th Anniversary and they had champagne waiting for us and our room was decorated with hearts and rose petals!! Our room was literally on the beach and we saw the most beautiful sunrises every morning. Much thanks to Niko, the Yessicas, Franco, Jorge and Carlos (who makes an amazing Paloma!) Our trip was unforgettable and we will definitely be back!
