Currently the shoreline is experiencing a lot of washed up seaweed called sargassum and the shallow waters are murky from it. If you would like to snorkel I recommend hopping on one of the panga boats on the beach here. There is a shack on the sand near the bar that says "snorkel" on it. The reef is dying but we did see sea turtles, rays and a variety of fish. Best snorkeling is certainly Cozumel.
