The best thing was meeting Salvadore in the Preferred section. Once we found him, the trip greatly improved. Positives: Room was by the beach (we paid for ocean view but got a floor level room within walking distance of ocean - but not ocean view). Room was comfortable and clean. Lots of room for improvement: We did bring these things to management's attention (Karen in Concierge) but nothing changed for the rest of the week. 1) Lots of smoking around the pool (however, guests are required to sign a non-smoking disclosure when checking in) - staff allowed it and didn't enforce No-Smoking. People smoked cigars and even a hookah (glass) poolside! Not family friendly at all and dangerous to have glass next to the pool. 2) Food is ok but takes FOREVER! Everywhere we went there was a line...buffet would have lots of empty tables, but there would be a line out the door. Staff seems to move at a snails pace. Burgers poolside were cooked on a large griddle but the cook only knew how to cook one at a time. The buffet and Mexican restaurant are HOT! They really need to turn on the AC or get fans. 3) Most of the staff is not friendly. This is the first resort we've been to that the bartenders don't smile or make small talk with the customers. Unless you speak Spanish, then the bartenders serve you first and Spanish speaking-clientele get priority service. 4) The BEACH! One goes to a beach resort for....the beach! It's not accessible due to the mounds, literally, of seaweed all along the shore. One has to climb over the mounds of stinky, gnat and bug-infested seaweed to reach the ocean. The ocean is full of sharp rocks - big rocks. We're experienced beach travelers and brought our water shoes, the rocks penetrated those within our first few steps into the ocean. 5) Not Family Friendly: The pool did not have activities for the kids staying there...unless you have kids 6 yrs or younger. Then they go to kids-club, aka babysitting far away from everything. We prefer resorts that have family activities at the pool / beach throughout the day. This resort offered pool volleyball for 45 mins - once per day and even when asked to have more volleyball they refused. Nothing was offered to engage the kids 6yrs-18yrs. Do not take kids here....besides above comments, the guests were allowed to smoke poolside and play music from personal speakers even if there was inappropriate lyrics. There were lots of women in thong swimsuits (10 sizes too small) gyrating on the pool bar while blaring their non-family appropriate music. Between the smoke, gyrating and foul music allowed, my 9 & 12 yr olds didn't feel comfortable going to the swim-up bar for a drink. Again, multiple guests we spoke with, including us, brought these issues to management's attention and No action was taken to rectify.

This was our second visit to Dreams Tulum. Post COVID things were different, fewer food choices and quality of food was not as good, but I believe that will improve with supply. The staff was excellent. We upgraded to prefer status and enjoyed the perks. Salvador was our butler and saw to our every need. the prefer beach bar tenders and waiters were excellent! We really enjoyed Mario and the complimentary catamaran trip. Love Dreams and Tulum!

My husband and I booked a 7 night honeymoon trip to Tulum, Mexico through a Southwest Vacation package. We are so happy we found Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa because we were treated like VIPs during our entire stay! We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which was a large corner room on the top floor with pool and oceanfront views from wall to wall. There were 2 outdoor patio spaces, an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, and fully stocked minibar all in our room. As part of the Honeymoon Package we received Preferred Club check-in and Concierge services with the following complimentary perks: breakfast in bed with mimosas, all-day cabana rental with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, spa day with massages and facials, private beachfront dinner for 2, and access to private beach, bars, and restaurants. It was such an incredible value on top of the other all-inclusive aspects of the resort. Food was rather hit or miss, it really depended on what you ordered. Some dishes were exquisite with offerings like octopus, rabbit, and rack of lamb where others fell short such as overcooked salmon or inaccurate menu descriptions (ex. wedge potato instead of baked potato). El Patio, the Mexican restaurant, was our absolute favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They did not take reservations and due to COVID some restaurants were not open on certain days or open at all during our stay, which made it somewhat difficult to get a table if you didn't come at the right waves/rush of people. The servers worked very hard but I think could have benefited from other restaurants being open so they wouldn't be as burdened to turn tables over quickly. We had incredible service during our stay! Silverio was our server at El Patio and for our private dining experience and he went above and beyond to make us feel so special and celebrated on our honeymoon. He even arranged a special romantic table for us on our last day of the trip filled with rose petals and candles and offered some great conversation and service. We hope to return to Dreams Tulum and see him again! A few days into the trip, we decided to stick mostly to beer, wine, and champagne. The tropical cocktails were delicious, but overly sweet, and we often had to ask for double or triple the amount of alcohol because even the shots tasted watered down. Perhaps this is somewhat normal for an all-inclusive, but we wished we didn't have to worry about tampered alcohol. Overall it was a great value and experience!

The staff at Dreams Tulum went above and beyond to make our mother/daughter vacation a memorable one! From the personalized water bottle, door banner, private lunch and beach dinners, we were never at a loss for anything! Beach service at the Preferred Club day beds were amazing - Salvador was attentive, fun and amazingly creative! He made us feel like VIPs! Our Preferred Club Swim Out suite was the icing on the cake. It was wonderful to walk out of our room, directly into our pool to cool off after a warm day at the beach or after dinner. I would highly recommend!

The hotel looks nice, but the service makes it pretty bad. The food is limited and they take long to serve you. They run out of things frequently and the drink/food selection is very poor. Don’t expect to be treated well if you speak Spanish!
