Amazing architecture and concept amazing rooms. I feel though that if you play the natural chic you must be loyal to the concept specially to the guests. I was told guest will have priority for anything that they offer so bars restaurants beach (specially sunbeds). It's not. The staff its amazing a part from a blonde lady called Delfina. She was snob and she felt she could make a selection based on how you are dressed. Well being a guest here means no electricity no hair dryer no lights no shower so i can never look like someone that comes from outside with those services. So again as guest i expect to have attention in relation to the concept they offer to live and the money they charge. I spent 12k high season for a sky villa (AMAZING) so i wont be told no from a waiter that she is meant to give me priority not an attitude.
The room have no curtains (you can ask Jhonathan the manager) but i don't like no privacy and too much light in the morning. Water smells from any tub but hey.. embrace the concept like candles at night and jungle feeling. No reception on 4g no wifi in room no fridge. Again magical place but not loyal to the concept in full. Good food. Beach is ok but no sunbeds for guest only few and the service speed horrendous. One man running like crazy (great man) but only one man!!! 1hr waiting for guest that order 2 beers and one guacamole.
If there is a party going on forget rest and enjoy the party which are amazing. You have no choice!!
One time experience for me 5 days plenty even max. Now that i did i will not do
it again if you go low season ok not worth 12k high season 5 days breakfast only.

Response from AZULIK-Tulum, Manager at Azulik Tulum
Responded Jan 24, 2020
Dear Colosseofuture, First of all, thank you for your visit and review. We are glad of knowing that our concept and architecture pleased you. As you had said, our concept is very different and the main purpose of not having wifi (we only have in the common areas), fridge, tv or electricity is to invite all the guests to live in the present and aware of nature and the surroundings. About the smell of the water, it is important to inform you that the water for the villas comes directly from a cenote, sacred to Mayan people and full of minerals that may give a different odor than we are used to. Last but not least, of course, the guests are our main priority and we don’t make any distinctions between them. So, we assure you that we are going to supervise the service of our staff to be sure that are working with the best standards of service at any moment. We appreciate your feedback, it helps us to make the proper amends if needed. We really hope to see you again in AZULIK to be a witness to all the improvements we are making for this 2020. Best regards, AZULIK Tribe

Pictures speak a thousand words and I can attest that the pictures (which are amazing!) do not do this incredibly unique get away justice. The food was amazing, the customer service was on point and the amount of detail that went into the design of the entire property is endless. A few of my favorite unique features of the property are:
1: It appeared that each room had a very unique style of outdoor swing and pool/bath that faced the ocean. This made for a very romantic candle lit ambiance.
2: There is a giant suspension bridge that connects the two restaurants. The bridge is also covered in vegetation that adds to the wow factor.
3: There are “angels” assigned to you. They wait in a common area of the property for physical assistance and they are available through WhatsApp. If you have a question or need assistance, just shoot them a text and they immediately respond. Service is second to NONE!
A couple interesting points to note that were not issues to my wife and I but may be for others.
1: There is electricity, but no lights in the rooms. Each room utilized candles throughout the room. This enhances the very natural ambiance that the staff wish to provide but it will also make it a little harder for you to prepare for dinner.
2: There is a definite sense of “openness” to the property. For example, there are no seclusion blinds on the windows. While there are small bamboo slats on windows, there is a really good separation between each one. This means that you can rather easily see people passing by your room and vice versa.
Definitely worth the experience, especially if you want to WOW your spouse!

+1
AZULIK will make the best you’ve ever had! I had the Aqua villa, Aztec villa, and Mayan villa. We traveled in a group of friends. All rooms are great! The Aqua villa is the best obviously with the only villa to have AC and shower in the resort. Aqua villa offers complimentary couple massage session for 60 mins. We also totally satisfied with the 24/7 butler service.
I want to shout out to Abraham, my butler for 2 day stay. He has done a great job by coordinating all the activities for us!!
I feel like I can spend days in AZULIK to take bath in the beautiful tubs or hang around the flying bed in the balcony. There's no electricity light bulbs in this resort. The staffs will come to the rooms to light up the candles, so romantic. Great news is there is WiFi, an electric fan above the bed (to kill the hot and humid), electricity outlets in the room to charge your phones or cameras. I need to bring my own air dryer because they won't offer in this resort. I just need to dry my hair but I feel like I can air dry my hair with this hot weather.
The three restaurants in the resort are great, including Tseen Ja, a Japanese restaurant. We went here for dinner with the set menu and it was great. The next restaurant is Kin Toh, where we had breakfasts. The restaurant has nests and photogenic spots for photos. Instagrammers don't want to skip this spot. The last and also the best restaurant among the three restaurants is Jungle Cuisine. This restaurant is located 30 mins away from the resort. The drive is worth for its magnificent food and dreamy views. There is also a complimentary entrance to the Sfer Ik Uh May museum if you have lunch/dinner in the restaurant. You will love this place!
Great place to stay that makes my trip so memorable. Thank you AZULIK and Abraham for making my trip amazing!

I don’t even know where to begin to start. Upon getting there, the staff has an arrogant heir about them, almost implying that you owe them something even though it’s you whose spending $700 for no electricity or air conditioning.
They welcome you with a “cleansing ceremony” which is suppose to rid you of negative energy. This is all smoke and mirrors, as the negative energy is evident when you walk into the hotel.
When we finally get to the room, it’s sweltering hot, and feels like you’re in a hot car. There’s no air flow, except if you want to let all the bugs into your “room”. I’m in my first trimester of pregnancy, so I had to run to the bathroom upon arrival. When I get to the toilet, it was gross. It looked like no one had ever cleaned it. I complained to management (Carlos), who assured me it was clean but would send someone to come clean it again. When we got back to the room, it looked exactly the same. I’ve attached pictures of how filthy the room is. You’d think they’d consider the level of cleanliness one would expect, especially in consideration of COVID and Mexico currently being at Level 4.
With all of these issues considered, we decided not to stay on the property. The heat was too much, and I kept committing. Despite all of this, the managers repeatedly refused to give us a refund. It was an absolute nightmare, and there were better accommodations at The Kimpton, which is 1/3 of the price. Attached you’ll find pictures of stains on the bed, dirt in the corners, dead flies in the room etc. It was insulting they’d allow any human to pay to live in those conditions.

Not to waste anyone's time I'll keep it as short as possible.
After years of promise I finally promised to put all things aside and take her on a one on one vacation - Azulik it was
For $1100 a night + Tax =
They have no idea how to cater for the price they are asking
Food is not great
No sheet protector on the bed, there was litterlay stains all over
The net surrounding the bed litterlay had mold stains all over
Rooms are moisty and due to no proper ventelation caused by the weather and the salty ocean
Nightly music until 2am from their Night Club, blaming it on the neighbuing hotel - False, your room will be shaking! (nevermind the weekends)
Room service is a disasters, no idea how to cater and awaiting your tip each and every time they lift their eyes for you
Everything in the name of relaxation, meditation, bla bla bla .....
You'll be sweating at night and awake in a bed that's moisty
Do not fool yourself, and believe the ratings on this hotel.
For those raving about their experience, I feel your pain for the money wasted and trying to hush them by fooling your emotions.

I already visited this hotel 2 years ago for about two weeks: the service was excellent and the complete hotel very silent and focussed on recovery. Nowadays the "enjoy the silence"-sign at the concierge desk is becoming more and more a joke. In the past two years Azulik got another restaurant, more rooms and an own club and rooftop bar. The rooftop bar plays musik until the late evening with loud basses, so that you cannot feel any kind of Maya-Experience and listen to the waves of the ocean. You can't even really sleep as you can hear every sound through the thin thatch roof.
Furthermore, the service good really lousy: we ordered ice a couple of times, but someone forgot it or it came after about 2 hours. The same at the beach: for one week they had lobster for only one day, then they run out of orange juice, white wine etc. Same at the Kin Toh restaurant... on one evening they only had two different white wines to choose.
We tried to discuss the experience with the manager, but nothing happend - well we got two drinks for free, but that doesn't compensate all the stress... especially, when you thing about the prices.

The concept of Azulik is unique and amazing, you need to understand it to actually enjoy it. There is almost no light or electronics in any room, just candles which makes it super romantic and private to connect with your loved one, the views are mesmerizing and the sunrises are the best part. Azulik as a whole is beautiful and magical for a romantic getaway, but if you are looking for commodities or for a place to go after a party night it might not be what you expect. Azulik is truly a place to disconnect from all the material things of life and connect with your inner soul and your environment. I honestly loved it, the only cons in my opinion were that some of the concierge staff were very inattentive, they would forget room requests and I felt uncomfortable several times when I was walking around with my partner because they would constantly ask me if I was guest multiple times in a non approachable manner, I stayed for 5 days and I had to deal with this issue every day, but besides that, the rest of the staff, especially the lower staff was impeccable, the spa service was amazing, the beach service as well, the cleaning staff was extremely helpful as they were the ones that helped me with my room requests when the concierge would forget. Overall, I give Azulik a 9 out of 10 just because of that little issue, but I think it is totally worth what you pay for, the upper staff definitely needs to improve their service and their way to approach the guests which are paying to feel comfortable but the place itself is amazing. I totally recommend.

I have just got back from Azulik. I booked 2 nights and regret that I did because I have lost £1200. I left and came back to Casa Malca.I could not spend a single night there!
They have a no refund policy. That is clear in their website. What is not clear, is that the rooms have no curtains and you can see everyone else in their beds even. you can hear people in the room next door because of the so called eco way they made the huts. The place has signs saying this is a silent place and yet most rooms will hear banging music all day from the restaurants. The beach club is so bad, it is small and there is limited beds. I over heard a group of 10 people who were very upset that they spent so much money to stay in such a crappy place. Ofcourse, they cannot get a refund. Oh and there is no electricity.. how do I charge my phone? Food is not available all day, and the place smells of sewage because of the underground marsh land.
The hotel is known for its restaurant, and that is trendy loud music, which is heard in the rooms. If you want a hotel where you want to sleep well and have privacy in your room, this is not the place to stay.
People in Tulum know about the fact that people leave or are upset, since Azulik is famous for complaints. Rather than stay somewhere I cannot rest, I came back to Casa Malca, where I stayed for 4 nights before. I have AC here, great service and the place is a dream..Azukik makes money from its restaurants not the rooms..because people only stay one max 2 nights for a good reason. I am sad the dis not give me my mi ey back even though I did not stay there. It may look great in pictures but it's the worst hotel and service. When I arrived I was made to wait outside and pull my own luggage out of the taxi. 4 staff of Azulik just watched us doing it. It is bit for people who want to rest..great for instagrammers but hell for anyone else. It should be against the law for them to keep money if you do not stay t the hotel, and they should tell the truth about their hotel having no privacy, or the awful music played all day.

Again, we offer you a sincere apology for the inconvenience during your stay, we are going to make improvements in the hotel in general and for sure take into account the details mentioned in this comment so we can offer the best experience to all guests. Also, as the villas of AZULIK Tulum were built in harmony with nature to create an atmosphere of tranquillity, the rooms do not have electric light or curtains as they are illuminated solely by candlelight, which reduces light pollution that severely impacts the environment of creatures like sea turtles, which rely on moonlight for direction during the breeding season. We feel honored that 4 of the 8 different species in the world come to our beach each year. However, there are plugs that support to connect a phone charger or an iPad charger, we regret you did not notice.
We offer you a sincere apology for the noise during your stay. We have moderated the volume of both restaurants so all our guests can enjoy again the tranquility and peace of the surroundings. In regards to the Beach Club, we would like to apologize ,but I time of pandemic, we are not allowed to have more than a reduce number of guests at the same time. We would also like to mention that one of our restaurants is open and available for any of our guests from 7:30am to 2:30pm and then from 5:30 to 10:30 for what Is only closed for 3 hours so our Staff can prepare for dinner time. Finally, we want to let you know that we also are going to make improvements in bell boy service, as you could saw, our system is one of a kind and for that reason, it is not always perfect, we offer you a sincere apology for this inconvenience during your stay.
Best regards, AZULIK tribe

The hotel has an amazing website. My husband and I were very impressive with the way it looks on social media. We decided to spend our anniversary at Azulik, Tulum. We had an awful experience. The staff told us there was no air conditioning, on any village and we believed them, the heat and the humidity was very bad. We started asking other guest if they had air conditioning and they said "yes" . My husband paid 1,500 p/n very pricey for not having some comfort. When I confronted the manager to ask about the air conditioning, he kept lying stating there was no air conditioning on any suite (even tho the room had the equipment) manager said the equipment was not working. My husband got very upset and finally he got for the manager to bring us the remote control; and guess what? the air conditioning worked. Also, if you are the the type of women who likes to have her own closet, good luck because they don't have one. If you like to do your make up, at least a little... there is no electricity just candles. We liked the food, the views and that's it.

Reasons why not to stay at Azulik:
1. The rooms only have a fan/no AC. It is extremely humid and uncomfortable.
2. No lights. The rooms are provided with a few small candles which provide little to no light. And there is only one outlet. This makes it nearly impossible to go about normal evening activities. Navigating throughout the hotel is very difficult as well. There are little to no signs and we consistently got lost.
3. Upon arriving, my boyfriend and I were supposed to receive wrist bands that were not provided. We only discovered this on our third and last evening after not being able to enjoy the amenities of the hotel because we were not given this. This oversight by the hotel staff was extremely upsetting and no reimbursements were offered.
4. Breakfast was included in our stay, however due to an early tour we requested a breakfast to go, which was agreed upon. The morning of our tour, our breakfast was forgotten. The hotel offered a bottle of mezcal in an effort to correct the mistake, however the bottle was probably around 6 oz. This was also upsetting considering the extent of the mistake.
5. Our room included a small pool/hot tub. When we arrived it was full of water. The next day it was empty. We requested for our pool to be refilled and it remained empty the rest of our stay.
6. We were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the oversight of the hotel staff. Considering the cost to stay, this was probably one of the worst stays I’ve experienced.
7. If you want to enjoy the “nests” which are an additional 300$ to your meal, I would suggest just reserving a dinner at Kin Toh and booking a stay somewhere else. It is a great place to take photos but not worth staying at all.
To end on a positive note, Miguel Luis was an incredible staff member that was extremely thoughtful, kind, and anticipated our needs during our stay. We were also overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness of Miguel Susa. Both these members off staff were the silver lining to our stay.

Hello, please send us a DM via Instagram @azulik and we will follow up on your request.
When we went, the water was full of algae and it honestly was not swimmable at that moment in time. It was like a carpet was floating on top of the water. I was hoping for it to drift away but it didn’t happen while we were there. But other than that, i think it’s a swimmable beach.
Dear Zarina.
We are not all inclusive property.
Please feel free to contact us to get more information.
