Piedra Escondida is a great value! Very private, great food, friendly staff, good location, beautiful scenery, and much more! It is not a super-flashy place, but you feel like you are experiencing the Mexican culture more than at a high-end boutique resort. Will definitely be staying here again. Seems like Tulum will be getting more modernized every day, but I hope they don't change a thing!

From the moment I walked into the reception area and was greeted by the wonderful Nayeli, I knew I made the right choice by booking Piedra Escondida and it was going to be the perfect vacation for my mom and I. After handling the payment details, Nayeli had our welcome drinks ordered and we were taken to our beautiful suite- B superior. The view from the double doors opening onto a private patio was more than I could have asked for and was where my mom and I spent every afternoon sipping on the delicious margaritas made by Desiderio. Desiderio was our waiter for our entire stay and was extremely attentive and provided the best and most delightful service. Even though we visited during Covid-19 and the staff always were wearing masks, Desiderio's smile under his mask would shine through his eyes. The food was wonderful here as well! My favorite breakfast while staying in Tulum was here- the chilequiles- SO YUM!!! I added arrechera and egg and was the tastiest breakfast I had ever eaten. Adding a bit of their green spicy sauce to really elevate the dish. We also had a few appetizers and it was all good, from the cevice to the quesadillas. We had a late lunch of the pasta marinara and the pasta was fresh and the seafood was perfect. Everyday, our room was cleaned perfectly with everything in it's place. The area is in a very safe location right at the beginning of the beach road, which was nice to be able to park before the road got too busy with bikes and taxis etc. The dedicated parking lot was an extremely nice feature and there were plenty of little shops and other restaurants and places to get snacks/ice cream within a 5 minute walk or less. Due to our visit being in July, there was sargassum along the beach which they tried to keep up with removing it. However, it did not bother me in the slightest bit. Sargassum helps with the erosion of the beach and helps rebuild the shoreline as it breaks down. There are a couple beach clubs along the road that have crews and machines removing it all day, so if you want a beach day- you can easily go to one of them. Please don't let the presence of sargassum make you avoid Piedra Escondida. The people working here are the nicest and most attentive I've had in my travels. I'm now discussing another trip with my husband and we will definitely be staying at Piedra Escondida and booking B superior!

Where do I even begin?!? I was in Tulum about 5 years ago and had lunch at Piedra Escondida. Since then, I vowed that I would stay in one of their bungalows the next time I come to Tulum. My little family stayed in the superior A room and we were in paradise for a week (I mean just look at our pic!). The manager, Nayeli, was very accessible even when she was not in the office. She helped us with tours, transport, and other special considerations because I was with a 4 month old. The restaurant food and drinks was amazing yet still affordable. Plus the restaurant service was very attentive and remained very professional even though we were there long enough for familiarity. The daily housekeeping and resort upkeep was impressive—it still looked the same if not better from 5 years ago. Because of the recent Covid-19 issues, we had to cut our trip a day short and the resort helped ensure that we were able to travel safely back home. When you stay at Piedra Escondida, you feel like you’re staying with family-who just happens to live in paradise. To add: there was some seaweed but removal happened at least three times a day. The shore has some “shell” area before you get to soft sand so swim shoes are helpful. Location of the resort cannot be beat! Walking distance to other restaurants, beach clubs, spas—or you can take a short cab ride to the ruins, the cenotes, and the grocery store (like a target).

the hotel is small which we think was an adventage. The restaurant serves very decent food all day and the beach you have almost to yourself.....provided there is no seaweed of course. The room is very nice but Wifi is not great. The toilet flushed but with some difficulty but overall a very very nice stay!

Location, location location... Piedra Escondida's is unbeatable, on a secluded beach between rocky promontories, with no intrusive beach vendors, noisy jet skis or any extraneous people around. The sea and all the facilities are only a few steps away. Get onto a sunbed or into a hammock and gaze at the horizon, and any cares just dissolve. Our welcome margaritas put us in the mood straight away. The Dream Team who run this hotel are all friendly, efficient and conscientious. Nayeli deserves special mention for her attention to detail and commitment to the success of our stay: emails to confirm our arrival details; arranging transport to and from Chichen-Itza, liaising with us by email and following up with our drivers to make sure they were on the ball; always engaged to make sure everything was going right. Graciela in Reception and Martin were also a pleasure to deal with. The meals were excellent. Breakfast is included - any dish from the entire menu. Lunch for us was a generous bowl of guacamole and happy hour margaritas on the beach. Dinner on the veranda was a treat. We ate out a couple of times at highly rated restaurants, but really we needn't have bothered, as the food was better (and less expensive) in the hotel, served by Desiderio, Eusebio, Hervin, Jose and Ulices. The urn of drinking water to top up our bottles was a thoughtful touch. Our ground floor room, No 5, was comfortable and quite spacious, right on the beach, cleaned impeccably each morning by Blanca, with fresh towels and toiletries. Relaxed, intimate, well run and a stunning setting: this place has got everything right.
