This place is absolutely beautiful. The staff is soo nice and helpful. A big shout out to the concierge Rafael he was able to book a taxi to take my boyfriend and I to a cenote and Chichen Itza. And the food was amazing so flavorful. I will definitely be back and tell everyone i know how great this hotel was. There rooftop is the best spot to catch the sunset. I miss it already.

I am SO excited my Dad and I stumbled upon this spot on our beach walk one morning. We stopped by for some drinks and ended up staying all day on the beautiful rooftop! Eleazar and his staff are amazing and so accommodating. I will definitely be going back as many times as I can to catch some beautiful sunsets and show this place off to visiting friends ❤️

Our stay was only for a few days and ended up costing 1000 CAD per night ( approx 750 USD ). On top of the overpriced rooms, the drinks and food were some of the highest we had ever seen. The staff were kind, but we still felt a weird vibe from them as we asked for simple things to be done ( like fix our door that had been broken and was unable to lock.) The Hotel was full and we noticed the beach and bars to be completely dead, after talking with others they said they felt ripped off every time they would buy a 25USD drink and it would have no alcohol in it. The beach was full of seaweed and we were unable to use it whatsoever. If we were to return we would not go back there, as we had found way cheaper deals online and better areas for our next stay.

Hello there! I would like to address your review by analyzing with cold facts whether you are getting ripped off or not, and whether things are overrated and overpriced, as its pretty easy to say it but such statement, we feel, should be property documented. So, let us talk about room prices. Tulum has been constantly rated as a top 3 beach destination in the world, not in Mexico, but in the entire planet. However, the Tulum Beach is only about 3 miles long (and that is all there is to it), as there are National Reservoirs and Protected Land on both sides of its beach, meaning, unlike Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Florida or California, we do not have hundreds of miles to develop hotels, thus our special beach is compromised of only boutique hotels. Moreover, most boutique hotels here in the Beach of Tulum have to make their own power and maintain multi million dollar electrical facilities for our small quantity of rooms, so that they are fully and property powered 24 hours. We also have to produce our own water ( in our case), or haul it daily from pretty far away, did you know that? Hotelito Azul, for example, has a state-of-the-art incredibly costly, but effective, water purification system that allows for all of the water in the property to be more purified (even the toilette water) than a bottle of Fiji Water :) (fun fact about us, we do like to brag about having the best water of any hotel in the market). We too have to treat our sewer and be responsible about how we dispose of it, as there is not a municipal infrastructure to just dump it, as you would in any other city. Our guests want the best internet available too (even though you are in the middle of the jungle, with no power, no water and no services), so we (at Hotelito Azul) pay thousands of dollars each month for a dedicated, commercial grade, fiber optic line that assures that we can give you WIFI better than what most people have at their homes in the United States. Furthermore, you also want a comfortable room, right? So we opted for German-made imported double glass, sounds proof, hurricane proof windows, high end memory-foam mattresses, pillows that get no better at places such as the Plaza Hotel in New York (literally, the same quality), 500 threat Egyptian cotton sheets. All of that costs an enormous amount of investment, but we have a hotel boutique with only so many suites and villas, you know? Lastly, as you may have noticed, Tulum does not have too many restaurants in the beach with 24 hour air conditioning for your utmost comfort, we do, and we also have to produce power for that too! Our beachfront Japanese restaurant flies its product daily from the Pacific to the Cancun airport so that we may serve the freshest and best Japanese sushi to our guests. Our organic market does not purchase its products where most restaurants do, they actually work with local farmers to bring produce daily and organic, that certainly has a different cost structure than any other "cheaper" option that does not operate with these standards of quality. Now, we do not have $25USD drinks, our average price per personalized cocktail is $8-$15 USD but some of our competitors, who have half of our amenities do, and their rooms price up twice of ours. Hotelito Azul, as you mentioned in your review, as been blessed with a top 3 demand and occupancy in our market, and this because of our quality, our staff and the incredible experiences that we offer our guests. We would not be able to do so if we were "overpriced and overrated" :) Thank you for your review and your business and hope that you have a safe trip back to Canada! Best from paradise.

Pros: - The oceanfront suite on the front row (row 1) as we had to specifically request this ahead of time is so worth the stay! any other room/package would not make the stay worthwhile - great breakfast from Oliva the restaurant. - great service Cons: - expensive for what it offers - The safe broke several times during our stay - not very impressed with the food quality/restaurants, especially given the cost (i,e. breakfast for 2 was almost $100 with just smoothies and a few entrees) - The bathroom is not well ventilated, unless both the bathroom window and the front door are open at the same time. Therefore, there's always a bad smell in the bathroom. - We killed THREE cockroaches in the room we stayed at - oh, it blasts music throughout the day!!! there's no quietness until 11pm at night. The music choice during the day was electric dance/rap/hip hop, so there's no way we could've napped if we wanted to. great for the oceanfront experience and views, but for the cost of everything, we are going to stay somewhere else next time!

Thank you so much for the time you took to write this review. We see that you very much enjoyed our Oceanfront Suites, thats fantastic, I too encourage you to try our Oceanfront Villas, same views, same location but a design that offers a Villa-like oversized and dramatic feeling in front of the Caribbean ocean, truly an experience! :) Lets talk about the "Cons" you mentioned. The "cockroaches" you speak about are not actually roaches, the kitchen is actually very far away from the ocean, we have it right by the street. However, these things are have a roach-like appearance and near size are actually a type of giant termite that is very common in the Yucatan jungle, they eat "hard wood", which we have in our floors, ceilings and all over our property. Now, we fumigate for them using an organic product that makes them pop out and evacuate our rooms every 10 days. We have opted out of chemicals that would kill them just because they are harmful to the environment and potentially our guests, but these big insects are a consequence of being in the middle of the jungle :) We apologize for that, we only see them in our "suites" as they are mostly made and decorated with hard wood. For example, in our "villas", which are mostly granite, concrete and a lot less wood, we hardly ever see one. Next, bathrooms, all of the bathrooms in our property have a window, now, if you turn on your A/C or open the front ocean door, you will see that the suite will get a lot of airflow and ventilation with the bathroom window open, and you will not feel this weird smell of an enclosed bathroom, but we also clean, disinfect daily and provide you with lavanda aromas from essential oils, every morning, that normally lasts 24 hours of fresh and good smells, but we will look into your comment further. The music issue has been addressed and we apologize, our beach music should be very chill, nothing loud and nothing that would bother any guests in their rooms. This has been addressed. Thank you again for your valuable comments!

This place is so promising. Someday it'll be wonderful. Staff's super friendly and helpful, and the setup/overall vibe is both unique & relaxing. But if you're looking for quiet, don't stay here. Late morning, the party music starts booming. No clue why b/c it just doesn't fit the setup. Rooms: The ocean front suites directly on the beach are fantastic. We stayed there two nights and it was so cool to open your door and walk out to the ocean (do know that we had to kill three cockroaches in the first hour but none were seen after that...we figured it was b/c we were so close to the kitchen). I wouldn't stay in any other rooms on property though - not worth it. The rooftop pool/bar is awesome for a swim/cocktail/views but the food was mediocre (we tried, twice). But breakfast in our room was great - def a highlight. Also, the power went out several times and we never knew why (not for long but still annoying). Speaking of moderately annoying, our safe had to be fixed about half a dozen times over four days (but they said the safes were new so I'll give them the benefit of a doubt). I'm totally rooting for this place. But they need to fine tune some things.
