Sweet little boutique hotel with great service, good food, relaxing vibe. Prices are more appropriate than other tulum hotels. Nice little touches like a reserved parking sign, nightly tea and chocolates, and welcome drinks. I could spend full days just hanging out on the balcony. My heart goes out to the workers tirelessly combing up seaweed. Further detail to the design and style of the rooms would be appreciated.

The seaweed problem is real. It was so sad to see empty beaches and half empty town. With this being said, El Pez is a truly relaxing and serene place. The room is clean, nice and fresh. Turn down service with afternoon tea was such a sweet touch. The staff works non-stop at cleaning the hotel beach, but the seaweed just keeps on coming. Our consierge was so helpful! She recommended a great place to escape the seaweed and we took a day trip to Caleta Tankah - a beach club that still has that pristine white sandy beach with no seaweed and turquoise water. Cenotes - worth the money. Mayan Ruins in Tulum - very close and easy to see. Breakfast was included, but it was surprising that they expected gratuity for a free breakfast. Service at the restaurant was good but slow. Food for lunch and dinner tasted great. But it was not authentic Mexican cuisine that we were looking for, so we ventured out to other places everyday. Pool is nice and clean. Overall the staff is pleasant and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The hotel premises are well kept and you have everything you need for your stay. Just be prepared that the beaches are unusable.

Dear Elena K Firstly, allow me to thank you for such a great review of your experience at El Pez Boutique Hotel. We are extremely glad to learn that, despite the seaweed situation, we managed to provide you a great time! I would like to apologize for the situation you experienced with the gratuities in our restaurant. This is by no means the service we intend to provide, and our team is being re-trained on this particular matter to ensure no other guest has a similar experience. On the other hand, it does mean a lot to read your comments about the effor we put in cleaning the beach. As you know, this is a phenomenon over which we have no control, yet we perform our level best to offer the cleanest beach possible. Tulum has so much to offfer, yet, and we are very happy that our recommendations have managed to create a memorable time nonetheless. We hope you decide to visit us again in the future. It will be a pleasure to welcome you back to our little piece of paradise!! Best Regards Mauro Monte General Manager

First off I have to say please know before going the pictures online of the ocean sadly don’t show what is really going on... seaweed is bad .. and it’s so sad to see empty beaches in a beautiful spot . With that said the staff at el pez is exceptional- very kind and made us feel at home. Daniel is a wonderful waiter who was wondering during our “happier hour “. Breakfast is delicious but slow some days ... Tulum was fun to explore on bikes - the centoe experience is totally worth the $ and to escape the sad beaches here All the restaurants were amazing - pricey but good We really enjoyed the mezzanine restaurant- it was delicious! Overall I say when the seaweed Hopefully passes come visit el pez- it not just be prepared for a slight letdown on the beaches....

Dear FellowTraveler442355 Thank you very much for your review of your experience at El Pez Boutique Hotel. We are trully glad to learn you have enjoyed your time with us so much. It means a lot to read your praises about our team (and especially Daniel, who has joined the company recently). We take a lot of care in our personalized service to ensure every guest has the best possible experience. Your comments will be shared with our team! Regarding the seaweed, as you probably already know, this responds to a natural phenomenon over which we have no control nor means to prevent it. We clean our beach constantly to provide the better conditions possible. At this very moment, for example, our beach is completely clean of Sargazo. We hope you can visit us again in the future. It will be a pleasure to welcome back to our little piece of paradise! Best Regards Mauro Monte General Manager El Pez Boutique Hotel

Let me just start by saying how nervous i was booking a boutique hotel sight unseen for a girls trip to a place very few of my friends have been to give recommendations, but how lucky we were that i choose El Pez. From the moment we arrived we felt at home ... from the hand crafted cocktails to the beautiful room right on the beach. Denise is amazing and goes out of her way to make your stay extra special... telling us all the ins and outs of Tulum, having fantastic recommendations and even hugging us when we had to leave this beautiful place. Rooms are cute and very clean... bed comfortable.... hammock on balcony amazing ....staff knows your drink and greets you by name... restaurant has fantastic food. Breakfast every morning was amazing. I can’t wait to take my husband here.... i can see this as a yearly trip! Til we see you again El Pez....

This was just a perfect family holiday for us, the hotel was beautiful, Beachy relaxed atmosphere, good food, excellent cocktails and the staff were all so wonderful, happy and helpful! The hotel itself is located in a quiet area, on its own point, you could chill at the hotel, swim in the pool or read in your own hammock. There are plenty of things to do in the area, the Cenote sand the Mayan Ruins....good local restaurants there in Tulum too. The only issue that the WHOLE of the Caribbean has right now is increasing seaweed due to nutrients coming out of rivers and global warming. The Hotel staff worked tirelessly to clear our beach of seaweed.... the government is trying to deal with the issue but it’s not likely to go away.... The staff dealt with this by suggesting we go to their sister hotels for beach hang outs which was a great solution for our kids who love to swim in the ocean and snorkel. We were one of the few hotels with a Pool and a Beach so that was definitely a bonus. Simply gorgeous place with special people and we will go back!
