While many guests commend The Yucatan Playa Del Carmen All-Inclusive Resort, Tapestry By Hilton for its prime location near the beach and 5th Avenue, some travelers feel it falls short in terms of value, pointing out unexpected fees and upselling. Room experiences are mixed, with mentions of spaciousness and modernity alongside noise and maintenance issues. The service receives varied feedback; staff are often described as friendly, yet some guests encounter slow service. Although the hotel is praised for cleanliness and a vibrant atmosphere, the loud music at night can be a nuisance. Amenities like the beach and rooftop pool are appreciated, but travelers note some service inconsistencies.

I was just re-reading the review I wrote for this place 9 months ago, and everything I wrote still holds true. Our second time here was even better than the first because we saw so many of the same smiling faces we saw last time, plus some new ones. Chef Crescencio (sp?) went WAY out of his way to do a very special culinary favor for us, and I don't think he even knew we were there this time for a delayed anniversary trip. I won't list everyone we enjoyed seeing because I would hate to leave out even one name of everyone who made our trip so fantastic, but because we arrived on what was only his second day, I will give a shout-out to Jonathan, who was doing a great job and still made time to appreciate my husband's concert T-shirts. Thanks to Ivan for the rum recommendation - we will be looking for that.

As stated in my last review, potential guests should know this is not a mega-resort with endless food, drink, and entertainment options. But the quality and range of choices for food and drink was more than enough to keep us 100% happy all day every day, and the casual and mostly quiet environment was just our speed. Thank you to everyone there and we will see you soon. We won't stay anywhere else when we return to PdC.

Despite all the positive reviews, my partner and I were apprehensive about this hotel as it was one of the cheaper all inclusives in the area. We were not disappointed!

Room
Upon arrival, we were offered a seat and a bottle of water before a very smooth, friendly check in. A member of staff then took us to the room and showed us the facilities. We were blown away by the size of the room and the beautiful wet room style shower, which was lovely and powerful. There was a small minibar in the room which was included and refilled daily. Upon arrival, there was fresh fruit waiting for us. the bed was huge and very comfortable. Toiletries were provided, inc. hairdryer, sewing kit, shower cap, bathroom scales. We also had a small balcony with two seats.

Food
Food quality was very good, with more expensive items included (e.g. fillet steak, seafood, etc). The only thing I would say is some of the evening a la carte menus were a little limited, which is fine for most, but my diet is relatively limited so it was a little tricky. We also noted that some nights there was no veggie/vegan option and allergen information was not apparently obvious. However, I'm sure if you asked, there would be an option :). We took great advantage of the room service (which is included!). The menu was varied and lovely. Rooftop sushi/tapas was great.

Staff and service
The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. Very funny, attentive and friendly.

Facilities
Pool absolutely lovely- very clean and well maintained. There was a beach towel service available on the rooftop. We also used the gym facilities which again were very clean.

Location
The hotel is located just off fifth avenue (the main strip) and is a 5 min walk from the beach. Step outside the hotel and you are in the midst of everything! The hotel is also a 15 min walk from the bus station which you can use to get to the airport/tulum/akumal etc, although we would recommend getting collectivos (the stop is about a 20 min walk from the hotel) for an affordable means of getting around!

Thank you to all the staff at Live Aqua. We had a fantastic time and would recommend to anyone staying in PDC.

I was impreased. From the moment we arrived to the second we left, the service, food, drinks, rooms, and location were perfect. There was actually nothing more we could have wanted. This boutique hotel is modern and our Boho Suite was spotless with very nice decor, 9ft ceilings, cloud-like beds, and a luxury bathroom. The food was consitently incredible in both presentation and taste. We espexially loved the seared tuna, taco soup, beef carpaccio and all the desserts. At the pool, the Baja tacos and the guacamole and salsa were our favs. Thursday night was BBQ night and again, an impressive selection of delicious food: ribs, steak, shrimp and salmon... We were so happy with everything. The hotel is minutes from the beautiful, emerald water, white sand beach and the lively 5th avenue shops. We enjoyed the short walk to the Martina beach and always felt safe in the area. We prepaid about $15USD at the hotel front desk for a beach bed and it was one of our best experiences. Absolutely wonderful. The hotel was pretty quiet during the week (mostly couples) but come Friday, a few bachelor and bachelorette parties showed up for the weekend so there's a good mix between a relaxing/party vibe. Lots of reviewers have commented on slow service but I would say the overall pace of the hotel is quite relaxed and their service is just slower than what we have come to expect in North America. We knew it wasn't going to be super fast so having this in mind, we just managed our own expectations and enjoyed the slower pace. We were there to relax and that is exactly what we did.

I read all of the description of the rooms, checked photos and booked two Superior Rooms 2 Q beds, which was supposed to be on “a higher floor” with “a spacious work desk”. The photo showed a balcony in the room. I paid extra for this “higher floor” room thinking it would be less affected by the street noise.

I was shocked to see no desk or balcony in the room. After requesting twice, talking to two hotel employees, and showing the web description of the room, we got a desk and chairs to the first room that we checked in. We got two second floor rooms. They consider the second floor “a higher floor”.

As a diamond member, we often get upgrades or at least get the exact rooms that we booked. Here we got downgraded. Hilton’s Corporate Guest Relations specialist said we would hear from the hotel within three days. We never heard back from the hotel.

This hotel has a serious noise and plumbing problems. Read any of the one or two star reviews. The hotel’s response has been the same copy and paste. “Please take note that given our amazing location in one of the most desirable areas of 5th Avenue, we cannot guarantee the entire silence of our property. “ They have been ignoring complaints from the guests. I doubt the hotel negotiated with the Sonora Grill (the source of the loud music) to limit the noise level or hours of the operation. The food quality is somewhat acceptable for a 3 star resort (not superb) but the same menu every day. They are not interested in improving the guest experiences.

Tips for the next guests…
We felt uncomfortable having breakfast buffets here. Unmasked guests self-serve from the uncovered buffets sharing the same serving utensils. If you are sensitive about COVID safety, go to breakfast at 7:00 am before everyone else arrives.

We stayed at Live Aqua in early March 2020. We really enjoyed the boutique aspect of the property, the small number of guests allowed us to have a relaxing stay. Although there are fewer restaurant/bar options than larger resorts, we had no issues getting food or drinks during our stay. On top of that we were really pleased with the quality of both the food and drinks.

Initially we were concerned that noise may be an issue due to the location of the hotel but we had no problems at night. Our room was great - bed was comfortable, nice big walk-in shower, minibar stocked daily, etc. The central location of the hotel was great as well as it lets you explore the surrounding city and easily get to the beach.

A big thanks to the staff who made our stay so enjoyable and a BIG shoutout to Fernando who took care of us during the week. Fernando remembered our names from day 1 and always made sure we were well taken care of anytime we were poolside or at the rooftop bar.

Would definitely recommend to couples looking for a relaxing, kid-free getaway. Hope to be back again!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel in February for my b-day and our 10 year anniversary. Normally we stay at an airbnb or non all inclusive place in PDC because there are just so many affordable and good restaurants in PDC that all-inclusive is unnecessary, but I had free nights that I had to use plus we wanted to spoil ourselves for a few days and we were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful. It's very clean, comfortable, and the workers are all very friendly and attentive. The food was also very good. My favorite was the BBQ night. I was really excited about the sushi bar on the rooftop. I tried a few different rolls. They were pretty good but left a little to be desired. The rolls all had this sweet and sour taste to them. I think they put too much vinegar in the rice or something, and the soy sauce tasted sweet. I thought it was teriyaki sauce but the server said it was soy. I'm kinda spoiled when it comes to sushi though because I've been lucky enough to eat at some of the best sushi restaurants in the US. The pool area was very nice. I could spend all day up there! The only negative thing is that it is quite noisy at night. You can hear the loud music from the street. If you go to bed early like me and are a light sleeper, you'll want to bring some earplugs. I'm glad I did. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel.

*** Long but honest review ***
I booked 2 King room for 4 guest to celebrate my birthday. Online it looks beautiful. The rooms are reminiscent of the photos but the staff is curt and condescending from check-in to check out. Most speak limited English so getting answers to simple things takes a moment. It took 1 hour to check in to the resort, even though they had the information printed out, no drinks were offered.
I reserved and paid for two KING rooms and was given doubles and told room choice is not guaranteed, but I was not refunded for the extra I paid for the rooms. My mate is 6 foot and 180 and we had to squeeze onto a double bed. I was charged extra for guests in the same room albeit the rate is the same for up to 3 guests.

My bed sheets had blood on them and are low thread count, the towels were hard and soiled. The showers were very lightly cleaned and water only comes out of one of the heads.

You must pay extra for everything even the hotel shuttle, literally, they will not move till you pay. The Food is bland, drinks watered down. There are cats all over property along with a racoon type animal roaming and hissing at guests. The window seal are filled with bugs and even after we brought it to staff's attention it was not cleaned.

Reservations for dinner were hard to obtain, the beach small, filled with rocks not sand and panhandlers everywhere. They do NOT serve you at this facility, you must go to the bar to order. This is an all Adult resort and the shows are kid like. The club DJ's are staff and the music is not broad but simply techno and it was freezing inside the club.

On the bright side, they did put balloons in my room for my birthday, which was nice and the luggage handler Ali was a gem - he saw my frustration and offered me a bottle of champagne for my birthday.

The Hotel and the staff were charming and overall did a great job. The food for a upper end All Inclusive Boutique Hotel was very disappointing. Menus so simple at both the Tapestry and beach Hilton were almost identical. No daily varying specials. Very little if any fresh fish selections and of course the upcharge for basically every steak or lobster.
The room refrigerator was not once in 8 nights replenished back to the original findings. The room attendant did a great job of cleaning, but again not once in 8 nights did all of the towels get replenished without me having to call. A faucet in the bathroom sink was loose to its mount so it was difficult to operate without holding the faucet with one hand and moving the water control lever with the other. Enjoyed the rainfall showers with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Toilet seat was loose on its mounting to the toilet so it would slide to the right and the left and again was not fixed in 8 nights. The security lock for the entry door, A blocking the opening type of device, was broken and again never repaired. The roof top was a enjoyable place, but most of the lounge beds covers have seen their days and should be replaced. Over all, the staff is what the hotel has going for itself. I highly suggest the all inclusive plus so that you can spend some time at the Hilton on the beach sister resort. At the Hilton beach front resort, the coffee shop-Ice cream parlor was a nightly stop for us, and a delight. The buffet had the good selections for breakfast and lunch. Did not have dinner in the buffet. Tried all of the restaurants at both resorts and the menus at all are remarkably similar and lacking in choices and fresh fish.

At the time of our stay the property was undergoing remodeling at the roof bar, restaurant, and pool. The reason we choose this hotel was because the photographs online looked so beautiful and relaxing. Instead, our view was of a construction barrier surrounding the pool and the pool bar was closed all together. We felt a little duped when we paid full price for a hotel that had limited services.

At check-in our room was not ready, the front desk instructed us to go upstairs to have lunch while we waited. She did not mention that the upstairs was under construction, and we discovered this on our own. Once we returned to the front desk, we let her know we were not pleased with the situation and how no one gave us any notice or indication that the facilities would be very limited during our stay. We really felt like we should have been given some kind of notice and given the choice to stay elsewhere, as the purpose of our visit here was to relax and enjoy the rooftop pool, bar and sunshine.

To make it up to us, she "upgraded" our room. Well, she certainly got the last laugh at our expense as this new "upgraded" room (#224) overlooked 5th Avenue, where at least 3 separate restaurants and bars with live bands played until 2am and the parties continued until at least 4am. And then, the cherry on top...the service closet is one step across the hall from our room where housekeeping begins prepping their carts at 7am right outside our door. Not to mention having to navigate the housekeeping carts being stored in the hall around our doorway throughout the day. Yuck. Hardly an "upgraded" room.

Because of the construction, the hotel is limited to one restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner which limits the variety and options for food. Again, something that guests should be made aware of when reserving the hotel.

During normal operation, the hotel offers the opportunity to use the facilities at the larger, sister property two blocks away for a separate fee. Perhaps during this period of construction guests should be given that option and the fee waived.

The parts of the hotel that were available were beautiful. The staff that attended to us during our stay were excellent. I’m sure once the remodeling is complete, the resort will live up to it’s marketing and advertising. Who knows, we may give it another try some time. If we do, we most certainly will stay on the opposite side of the building across from 5th Avenue.

Shame on you Hilton, The Yucatan Playa del Carmen Resort and Expedia. The courtesy of notifying potential guests of the limited facilities and or reducing the rates during this time would have been the proper thing to do. And to the girl working at the check-in desk when we arrived…shame on you too.

We’ve stayed in some amazing hotels in Mexico before this is not one of them.
The room was spacious with a big bed which was very comfortable but the linen was shabby with holes and stains. The balcony door was very difficult to open and it didn’t lock properly. The bathroom towels looked like they had been chewed on by rats. Seriously get some new towels!
The air con broke on the 3rd night but we didn’t realise until the morning after a very hot night. Turns out, the maid had been in and left our balcony open a bit and I got severely bitten by mosquitoes. Took a day to fix it and we were given another room for the night however, we didn’t get a wink of sleep as at around 2am construction started below our room.
You won’t sleep without earplugs due to the noise pollution from 5th Avenue.
The restaurant, El Mural is the only restaurant and rotates between 4 menus. Food portions are minimal but nicely presented. The breakfast is buffet style but you can also order eggs. The service in El Mural was lacking sometimes, especially at night and the waiters were not able to cope. People had to get up and pour their own drinks!
The rooftop pool serves good food that arrived quickly. The staff, in particular Fernando and Ivan really looked after us. Sun-beds were filthy and the music was far too loud so we spent most of time at Esmeralda beach which is about a 20 minute walk away.
There were ants in our room and there were ants crawling over the breakfast buffet table on our last day.
