If you read no further, "I'd go back to Sunrise 42 in a moment." Nice location for all our needs (including being just a block from an outstanding, and inexpensive bakery). Has a relationship with a beach club so we were able to walk there and get admission for 1/2 price. AC was excellent. Beds and sheets were very good. Room safe in closet and it worked flawlessly. . Desk staff was exceptional, especially Giada, who assisted us each day. Gigantic closets, and ample hot water. Effective room refrigerator. One of the few hotels we've gone to that had enough lighting to allow you to read in the room. Two small rooftop pools, which are aprox. 50 inches deep. While the sound from wall-to-wall was very constrained the sound if someone dropped something above you was quite loud. Also the drapes were mildew stained and I'd to suggest that replacement or a serious cleaning is necessary. Finally: as others have noted, the breakfast is pointless. I've had worse Continental Breakfasts in economy USA hotels, but if you have to pay anything extra for the breakfast use that money to eat elsewhere.

Spent 2 weeks at Sunrise 32 over christmas 2019. The hotel is nicely located a little north of the (now) unrecognizable center of PdC – which is great. On the outskirts of PdC centre it is possible to get the same Playa del Carmen «feeling» and vibe I experienced when visiting the then village around 2000/2002. The staff is extremely helpful and nice, everyone spoke very good English (although I am ashamed not to be able to communicate in Spanish!). The room/suite was very nice and well equipped. Just a short walk to the very nice beach – and (if so inclined) only 10-15 minutes to walk to «downtown». I will return!

I was recommended to stay at this hotel by the dive shop I wanted to use while in Playa. It was exactly what I was looking for. We have stayed at a couple of large all-inclusive resorts in the area so it was a nice change to be close to the centre of Playa. The location is just off fifth avenue so everything is a short walk away. The rooms are clean but the furniture is limited. An armchair in the room would be an improvement. The beds are firm and comfortable. each room has its own air pump, not some noisy air conditioner from the1970's. When I did have a problem it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Services at the hotel are limited, so for laundry you just have to take your clothes to a local laundry just round the corner. The reception is a gold mine of information and they really do try to help, whatever your request. I will certainly be back!

We booked two rooms and had two very different experiences. Upon check-in, we were just given the keys by gentleman wearing an undershirt (and no official clothing). I was in a room with my wife and infant. When I woke up in the middle of the night to make my son milk, there was no warm water so I chose to use the coffee maker to warm up the water, only to have extremely dirty water come out. The front desk was very cooperative in the morning and happy to accommodate our request and take our feedback. Upon, checkout, though, we learned that 5th floor had a pool and their was warm water available all along. Overall, good value for money: good location, attentive staff, and willing to hear feedback. Just a little work needed around internal communication and quality control.

I was here for 5 nights in November 2019, the place is a great value for money. Let me start by saying that all the ladies at reception are lovely and very helpful. Especially Giada was a great source of local recommendation, she always had a smile for us and we felt very welcomed! The rooms are very big, I had two queen size bed just for me, with a private bathroom and a balcony. All the place is clean and very central , just one block from the main Street and 5 minutes walking to the beach. I hope to return one day!

Located at the end of the famous 5th ave which made a quite stay, yet convenient to walk to. Many shops and restaurants all with in walking distance. Make sure to try surrounding restaurants, as they may not look as trendy as the ones on 5th, but the pricing is about 1/3 the cost. Staff was very friendly, and english was very well spoken. Rooms were spacious and clean. Note that we stayed for 1 week, and our sheets were not changed. Beds were made, floors and facilities were cleaned. Always felt clean. Air conditioning was nice. Almost too cold on its lowest setting. The pools were smaller than pictured, more like soakers. Never the less enjoyable on a hot day. Parking is very limited. Almost difficult. Timing was key to finding parking.

Just off the 5th avenue on the 42 you will find the Sunrise 42 hotel. Let'go step by step. Service is fine. Helpful courteous. Thank you. Cleanliness: the rating cannot be good. The room itself was clean but some dubious stains on the bedding raised some questions. And the puffers on the bed not really shining clean. Not good enough. If somebody from the hotel is reading this review check left bed in room 129. Anyway. Position is good even though the 5th avenue starts getting alive from the 34th st. So far middle marks. One mortal sin cannot be forgiven though the breakfast! Served in an attached restaurant there is litterally no choice! Dishes are often stained and so are the glasses. The same applies to the table cloth. So no food served in a not so clean environment.?? Please do something about it. It should not be difficult. You deserve more than the 2 stars you are getting right now. And 2 stars go to the wonderful personnel.

The hotel is in a great location. It is one block off CTM, which has many restaurants. It is half a block off 5th Ave which has even more restaurants and bars. There is a great laundry around the corner. It cost $6 us to have my clothes laundered. The beach is a short walk away. The hotel has a deal with Martina beach club. I spent an afternoon there. It isn't bad, I think the food is better at other beach clubs but Martina's is a good place to spend an afternoon. The front desk employees are friendly and helpful. The lobby area is big and clean. The hotel has elevators that like most elevators in Mexico are unairconditioned and slow so the only time I took the elevators was when I had to transport my bags. My room was big with.two queen sized beds. The beds were actually comfortable. Most hotel beds in Mexico are like sleeping on concrete. The furniture was in good condition. The TV was a flat screen but it appeared to be only 32 inch. The roof has two small pools and about eight lounge chairs. The problem is there isn't any shade so if you are spending time on the roof you'll probably want to spend time in the pool to stay cool. The lounge chairs look nice but are actually the most uncomfortable chairs ever built. You can get beach towels at the front desk. My room safe wasn't working when I checked in. The maintenance man was at my room within five minutes and found that the batteries needed to be replaced. He was back with batteries within another five minutes. It was nice that my issue was resolved so quickly. I read complaints about the free breakfast. If you want breakfast that is included with the room you will have to stop at the front desk to get your slip of paper to give to the waitperson at Rey David which is connected to the lobby. The free breakfast consists of coffee, juice, cereal, bread, lunch meat and other items. I would recommend that you not plan on having the free breakfast every day. for me there wasn't enough that I liked to make it worth while.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and loved it, the room was big, clean, had an en suite and working air conditioning, even got towel sculptures! The location is perfect, literally less than 5 minutes to 5th avenues where all the bars and shops are. Beach is about 10 mins walk. The staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful, providing local knowledge and recommendations. Pools on the roof are nice but bit small and breakfast is poor but those are the only negatives. I would happily stay again!
