    Great time!
My husband and i stayed here with our two small children (5&3). I would definitely reccommend the Princess Family Club. Check in was really quick, they gave us glasses of champagne and juice boxes to welcome us to the resort. Once we arrived at our room, there were stuffed pirates for the kiddos and a bath set on the tub. The concierge made reservations for us at Miso as well as the Mexican restaurant. I personally did not love miso and wouldn't reccommend it. My husband really enjoyed the mexican restaurant. My favourite place for lunch was the sports bar. Their paninis were delicious! The pirate buffet is great and way less overwhelming for younger kids. The kids pool is a lot of fun and all of the staff that we met were amazing with our family. This is a large resort, which has both positives and negatives. It doesn't seem that busy as everything is so spread out, that being said- the beach was a bit of a hike with small kids and the shuttle was not always around. We were always able to find loungers at both the pools as well as the beach. The wildlife was great to see. I read that the coaties could be pretty bold, but we just made sure our food and snacks were cleaned up and secure and they didnt really bother us. The only negatives i would share just as a heads up for others staying at this resort are: The mexican market- we were told that this was local people from town. This was not accurate. The vendors all wore the same shirts with name tags, appeared to work at the resort. Also, the items they're selling are almost 3x the price of the gift shop. We paid $40 dollars for a clay jaguar whistle, then saw it for $25 in the gift shop. To say we were disappointed and felt cheated would be an understatement. The photographers- Just a heads up that these photos are incredibly expensive! The cheapest package is $110 USD for 7 printed 4x6 photos and a link emailed to you with the same 7 pictures. They had taken 71 pictures, we had to narrow it down to 7. Overall, we had a great week and would reccommend staying here.

Travelling with Tui for 2 weeks. Booked junior suite in block 7 262. Rooms are as brochure, huge well maintained and decorated. Huge comfy bed with loads of storage a free safe and free stocked mini bar. Large balcony for us with a view of palm trees and some sun. We don't use room in day but other room upgrades have views of pool etc. Food in 4 buffet restaurants fabulous too much to choose from and chef stations cooking steaks eggs etc to your choice. 5 A la carte restaurant choices with unlimited access many times. 8 pools with some swim up bars and waiter service. Bbqs pool side and on the beach. Animation teams 7 days and live bands certain days. Beach with full bar and food service on a white sand safe beach Evening entertainment in theatre and live music in lobby and open air bar in Sq. Grounds are basically a resort within a jungle. Perfectly manicured landscapes with families of cute iguanas ring tails and birdlife all well briefed on posing for cameras. My only regret is we are only here for 2 weeks! Top tip. 1.Tipping is not expected or pushed. Take 20 peso ot $1 notes (80p) for table and bar service etc. Tip small and often. 2. Use a higher sun screen than you think and try to use a bio degradable one. It's truly paradise and if you are not enjoying something just say and the team will make it better.

Had 9 nights here and was very impressed with this hotel, the value you get is amazing, there are many pool areas some with games and music or others that are quiet and more chilling. The grounds are kept exceptionally, pretty much to golf course standard, and this is a large place so full credit to the staff and groundskeepers. Nice beach with loads sun beds and they clear the seaweed every morning. The aircon worked fine and the rooms were clean. Mini fridge get filled daily. The reception even let me keep my wrist band until my flight time so I could use the facilities and get food and drinks until I had to leave which I thought was very kind. Friends who were staying up the beach from here were paying 3 times the price for their hotel and they were annoyed with themselves for not booking this place as the value is so good of what they saw when visiting. Most certainly would revisit if come to this area again. The only bad thing (apart for having to home!) was the Americans who I thought in general were quite rude to the bar staff etc!!! But obviously that’s not the hotels fault!!!!! Great hotel give it a go!

1. CHECK IN - a breeze, champagne was our welcome drink and always a nice gesture upon arrival! 2. ROOM - very clean, beds, pillows and everything were comfortable. 3. POOL - only went to the fun pool, never too crowded. Tried another pool one morning but there were a lot of children and a swim up bar, it just felt strange with that mix. 4. SWIM UP BAR - just as you'd expect. For those that like slushie drinks, they had them. Only comment would be they were short staffed so there were long waits for drinks, double up and problem solved. 5. POOL ACTIVITIES - I never went out to different pools but, within the one week we were there we stayed mainly by the fun pool, by the french restaurant with the swim up bar I don't recall the name, there was only one "aquasize" class and one game another day. I've been to other resorts where at the fun pool they come by multiple times, and I always look forward to that. Not a deal breaker, just a comment. 6. FOOD - We enjoyed it, lots of options so in my opinion nothing to complain about! The hamburger bar at one pool is great and worth the short walk! Staffing in the buffets need to work on customer service. We didn't get drinks or have anyone check in to see if we needed anything. 7. BEACH/OCEAN - not super swimmable, there are certainly better beaches out there. Great views though, who doesn't love staring into the ocean. 8. A LA CARTE - we tried most. Mama mia and Tapanaki were favorites. We were definitely rushed and at two a la cartes we weren't offered dessert. There was little to no customer service except at the tapanaki. 9. APP & BOOKING A LA CARTE - this was the biggest challenge and most frustrating. The app didn't work the night we arrived, so I went to concierge to book the 3rd night as you can only book 3 days in advance. First time I did this, it was no problem and the booking was made on our behalf no questions asked. The following night I again went to book in advance because the app wasn't working again and I got yelled at that he can't do it and we have to use the app (which wasn't working). It was incredibly rude and this would be the main reason why I would NEVER RECOMMEND this resort. Oddly enough, the man working that yelled at me was the same man that did it the night before. But when I reminded him he had no problem doing it the night before and allowing us the opportunity to use the resort to the fullest, he yelled and through his hands in the air and said I don't remember everybody....maybe I didn't tip enough I guess. Regardless, I've never been spoken to like that at an all inclusive resort, I was shocked. He also did this in front of our group of friends, we were all shocked. Part of me wishes I would've asked for a supervisor but I've never been that person. I hope you don't have this experience. If their app would work better it wouldn't have happened I guess. It appears the app has been an ongoing issue reading other reviews. 10. POTTERY PAINTING - relaxing and fun! Met another couple there. I made a spoon rest but there were tons of options, it was $12 USD to buy it and paint it. She took it home to finish it and I picked it up 2 days later. 11. EXCURSIONS - We did one. The turtle swimming with cenotes right after. I was expecting a conservation or something so it was easier to see the turtles but it's a random beach nearby so you're not guaranteed to see them. There were tons of boaters and rough waters. We didn't see any turtles but our friends did. Lots of seaweed if that grosses you out. The cenotes were awesome! highly recommend! Had a hiccup in the booking though, booked through the resort Sunday for Tuesday. Monday he told us it was cancelled Tuesday because the weather was crappy and would be rebooked Thursday. We got ready and went up Thursday and no one came. Calls were made, apparently there was some miscommunication between the rep and the excursion specialist that we were rebooked to Wednesday and we no showed. Nonetheless, they made it happen Thursday and we got a private tour because of the mishap. 12. DRINKS - no complaints of course! 13. SPORTS BAR - kids were allowed inside, which was strange. We didn't spend much time there. 14. DISCO - seemed like it could've been fun but we only went the night before we left. 15. SHOPPING ON RESORT - lots to shop through having two resorts attached. Expensive but saves a taxi trip. Nice to browse though. 16. THURSDAY NIGHT MARKET - lots of fun! love this option. We got most of our souvenirs here. 17. CHECK OUT - we got the tiniest clown car to travel to the airport in. I'm talking major claustrophobia. Highly recommend asking ahead of time what the transportation is because a bus brought us there and a clown car took us to the airport. I wouldn't paid for a taxi if I would've known lol. We certainly had fun as a group, making it fun for ourselves and enjoying what we could but this resort does need to improve on their customer service skills.

Just returned from a weeks stay here which we booked very last minute, we were quite wary after reading some of the other reviews but were not disappointed. Admittedly I would say there were some elements of the hotel that were not five star however you get what you pay for! The hotel is very grand and exceptionally clean. The all inclusive buffet has plenty of choice available for breakfast, lunch and dinner but if buffets not your thing (it’s not really ours), then take advantage of the five restaurants but make sure you prebook the day before! Our favourites were the Italian and the Mexican. There is also a 24 hour sports bar where you can get food off the snack menu as well, we spent a lot of time in here as the air conditioning is great. The grounds of the hotel are stunning and there is plenty of wildlife, it takes maximum 10 minutes to walk from the reception to the beach - yes it is large but it makes the hotel not feel crowded! The beach is a must, the sea is absolutely stunning and exclusive to the hotel. On our first morning we got up early and went down to see the sunrise, another must! There’s plenty of excursions to do from the hotel, we did Chichin Itzá and a day trip to Cozumel Island. You can also get the shuttle bus from the hotel to Playa Del Carmen for a small fee. Overall we had an excellent stay and with the all inclusive found it very good value for money - a lot better deal that we would have got holidaying closer to home in Europe. We would definitely consider returning 😊

This was a last minute booking so probably didn’t do the research I would normally do & having stayed previously at other 5* rated hotels in the area I expected similar to previous. Firstly it doesn’t warrant a 5* as it doesn’t ooze luxury, some areas are quite tired & dated & the customer service is very lacking. The food in the self service areas is mediocre & the hot food is very rarely hot. The cold buffet selections are left out in the none air conditioned service rooms & in my opinion a health hazard. The hotel states that it is no smoking apart from designated areas but unfortunately this is NOT enforced - smoking was regularly occurring all around the grounds including in the swimming pools. The complex is very large & can be quite exhausting to get around in the heat. There are definitely not enough sun canopies for the sun beds but thankfully we visited out of peak season so managed to at least secure a shaded area if not a canopy. I did unfortunately suffer a severe bout of sickness on my 3rd evening I can only say the response from the manager regarding this incident was shocking ! Thankfully when I was well enough to speak with my TUI rep she did a report which was then relayed to the manager who then contacted me with a backhanded insincere apology. The plants & wildlife around the hotel grounds are the saving grace along with the glorious weather but really this should not be the only positive from your vacation. Had we have paid the regular full price as opposed to the late deal price I would have felt cheated quite frankly.

Our vacation has been excellent. Huge shout out to Rodolfo for his excellent service at La Vaqueri & Hacienda. The pools are amazing! Always an open lounge spot anytime of the day. Highly recommend the Teppanyaki! The entertainment at night was good. The day time entertainment could be better as the entertainment staff couldnt muster enough engagement from visitors but the music is excellent at the pools. Maid staff are as excellent cleaning and stocking rooms in a timely manner. We asked for better pillows after night 3/7 and they brought better pillows promptly. Especially Alfonsina who assisted with most of our needs.

On the whole we had an enjoyable stay with some memorable moments. First this resort does not match its 5 star grading infact doesnt compare with our last stay to Mexico in a 4 star resort. The cons: - It is a big resort and can take 15 minutes to walk to our room form the beach, we were lucky if a trolley pulled up as we walked back. - The majority of resturants we ate at had no air con so was oppresively hot and and humid - Other than the Italian and the snack buffet the food was relatively bland and not what we expected especially from the themed restaurants. - The rooms itself a delux junior suite was comfortable enough but in need of update. There were not enough power sockets especially with mobile devices. The TV must have been from the 80s, couldn't watch due to poor picture and sound, the shower made banging sounds and on one occasion I tried the spa bath the water pressure was so strong it forced out jets and squirted water all over the bathroom floor and into the hallway. - The staff on the whole were not as attentive as previously experienced The Pros: - The hotel grounds were well kept and gardners out every day. - The pools we used were nice - Enjoyed Mamma Mia restaurant - The shows we watched were good and enjoyed the silent disco - We had a medical incident and thought the first aid team, concierge and management that were involved did a good job with care. - A big plus of this resort is the beach and ocean quality. In the roped of swimming area one could walk/paddle out for about 100 yards and still only be about 3 feet deep. The water was beautifully clear and warm and there was no sargassum experienced previously at this time of year. The wildlife in the hotel ground is amazing, coaties, igguanas, deer to name a few. The coaties are so funny to watch as the hunt for food. Be wary if you are in the pool and leave your belongings on your lounger the coaties will take anything including dragging off full beach bags. There must be stash loads of goodies hidden in the bushes or where the coaties hide, not just food. We had a good time at the Riviera Princess but it could have been a better experience especially if the food at the speciality restaurants had been more enjoyable and air con had actually been on. Would we return again? For the beach experience definately and if it was a great price maybe but the Riviera Maya has so many choices that another resort may sway our choice.

A beautiful large family friendly resort. Staff was wonderful and too many to count from the front desk to housekeeping. Victor and all the other bartenders did an excellent job. This place and the staff makes you feel welcome and at home. Thanks for having me and hope to see you all in the near future 💙❤️💙

I had the good fortune of a discounted deal to stay here for one week . It's a huge hotel with multiple pools and restaurants. I didn't do any of the trips, but I did use the hotel minibus trip into town. The sports bar was my favourite because its 24 hour with great snacks and a free pool table. Word of warning: can be slippy around pool areas.

First and foremost this is most definitely NOT a five star experience. I was really very disappointed after having paid quite a lot of money for our holiday on arrival to my room. The lobby is smart and the grounds are nice but this belies the rest.. The long walk to our room was through hallways with ceilings down and the room is very tired and dated with cupboard doors hanging off and my adult daughter has been given a put you up type bed that is rusty. The furnishings and sheets are not luxury at all. The sofa has threads pulled all over it and the cover of her bed in particular is like brown sack cloth. Just why? The thing that tells me the most that this hotel is not five star is the poor state of the rooms and the level of staff service. We have a direct comparison unfortunately as we stayed at Riu Las Americas last year. I advise you to most definitely go there instead! Or maybe any Riu because it is head and shoulders above this resort and it does make a big difference to your enjoyment. I felt like a pampered queen last year and here I feel entirely different and can’t even be bothered to dress up as it’s seems pointless! The service matters to me more than anything and whilst there are some nice friendly staff of course there is many that are not so friendly which has really suprised me and some don’t even look at you as I think they rather not serve you and maybe it’s because there’s simply not enough and people are not really tipping here but I can see why. It’s a down spiral.. the service has to come first! One towel station by the way is not enough as you have to walk in the heat to find it. I spent a day on the beach and didn’t get offered a drink. There’s so much serve yourself! At Riu staff appear constantly at the beach and pool and offer to serve you and so you tip them often and then the staff are happy and smiling and you are happy too it’s win win! The staff in the buffets here take ages to ask you for a drink if at all sometimes. That’s so annoying! I mean it’s the basics isn’t! So not only are you up and done for food then you are up and back for drinks etc.. Come on Riviera Princess! This could be so much better.. They leave food on floor and finished plates on your table and I’ve honestly had better service at 3* let alone 5! I was shown to a table with food on seats and at breakfast there was someone’s coffee pot still there. So then the waitress assumed we already had coffee and I had a job getting her to come over. Then I had to go ask for milk etc etc.. it’s all a faff and very far from five star. Also the food quality is well below what we had last year at Riu and of course the drinks quality too is poor as they only serve “local” which makes everything taste slightly chemical and not as nice. So you might think does it matter? Yes.. on the daily it really really does.. All of these seeming small things add up. Oh and also there’s no sea views.. My husband assumed as it was “on the beach” we would have that opportunity.. but whilst the complex is by the beach it’s a walk to the beach. The walk is not massive but you can’t see the sea from within the resort and I wouldn’t usually mind a stroll but in 33 degrees on hot concrete it’s a real slog. The whole place is roasting because there’s no sea breeze so once again I wouldn’t choose it again over something properly on the sea as it feels unbearable to move around and the swimming pools are literally hot baths and in no way refreshing. There’s not enough beds in the shade either. Not my idea of enjoyment. I will tell you a plus and even a one up on Cancun’s Riu and that is the surrounding and visiting nature. Pretty planting and animals like Coati, Iguana and even amazing monkeys do visit which has been the highlight for us as we love nature. With nature of course does also come.. mosquito.. come prepared but I doubt you will avoid being bitten! Fair enough though.. its the season and can’t be helped. In short I would never come back here and with so many other choices in Mexico I don’t advise you choose it…my husband was swayed by the 5 star rating and that was not only annoyingly misleading (even the TUI rep agreed it’s dated and tired!) but it was a costly mistake!! I would definitely take your time to read the reviews because I let him pick this year and I sincerely wish he had! He’s not happy either!! Apparently we could pay another x amount a night to upgrade but no thanks. I already paid enough for 5 star and got ripped off.. you aren’t having anymore of my money! We will make the best of it but honestly.. Really Disappointed ☹️
