We're regular visitors to the PDC area, but we can't recommend this property at all. There are much better places with friendlier staff, better customer service, and more enjoyable amenities. Let me share our experience with you. We initially booked this property because we thought it would be the perfect spot for our pre-wedding gathering with friends and family. The apartment itself (we had a 2-bedroom PH) was beautiful. It had nice decor, plenty of space, amazing outdoor areas, comfy beds, and a well-equipped kitchen with all the basics covered. The location was great too, with direct beach access. Unfortunately, during our stay, the beach was overrun with algae, and they didn't seem to be in a hurry to clean it up. Meanwhile, our friends and family at other properties did enjoy the beach because their places took care of it. Before booking, we had a chat with the property's website to confirm the amenities and services. We were in MX for 15 days, and booked everything with our CC points, including this property. However, this was the only place that gave us trouble. Just a heads up, if you don't book directly with them, they might not be as helpful if any issues come up. When we arrived, guess what? The elevators weren't working. Our penthouse was on the top floor, and dragging our luggage up four flights of stairs was no picnic, especially with an older person in our group. We asked the on-site staff for assistance, but they simply shrugged it off, saying we'd have to wait for management to show up the next morning. We called to express our disappointment, but the person on the other end was rude and basically told us that since we hadn't booked directly, they didn't feel obligated to provide a penthouse with elevator access unless we had given them a heads-up in advance. They also refused to tell us when the elevators would be fixed. Terrible customer service, and the agent was really argumentative. After calming down a bit, they offered us another apartment on a lower floor where the elevators worked. But the alternative wasn't as nice as what we paid for, and they wouldn't budge on refunds. They even suggested we pay an extra $400 for another penthouse on the functioning side of the building. We didn't think it was fair to shell out more money for a property that clearly didn't value its customers. To add to our woes, the AC units didn't work properly for the first four days. We complained multiple times at the front desk, and one guy had the audacity to imply that we didn't know how to use the AC. Finally, they sent an AC technician who confirmed that our units were faulty. They fixed them on the same day, and we finally had a couple of days of cool air. Oh, and we also had a delivery debacle. The front desk staff misplaced one of our packages and weren't exactly helpful when we asked about it. We had to involve someone else to get confirmation that they actually had the package, and we could pick it up when we got back. And as if that wasn't enough, they gave us a hard time about our guests too, even though we had informed them well in advance. Our guests didn't stay overnight or use any facilities; they were just hanging out with us for a few hours. There were a couple of friendly staff at the front desk ( a girl and a guy in the night shift). But during the day, there was a guy who was not friendly at all. We witnessed his rude and argumentative behavior towards us and other guests who had their own issues during their stay. Honestly, out of all the places we've stayed in Mexico and around the world, this was one of the worst. We regret choosing this property and wouldn't recommend it if you want an stress-free vacation in PDC. Luckily, our stay was short, and we were able to salvage the rest of our trip after dealing with their poor service. As a side note, we are fluent in Spanish, thus all the above experiences were handled in my native tongue, but for the sake of the review I wrote it in English. Can’t wait to see what kind of copy-paste response they try to provide regarding our experience. What’s done is done, and we won’t ever be visiting them again.…

Hello Maria, Thank you for taking the time to write to us, we are always happy to share information with our guests when available and value any good-faith observations made in earnest. In regards to your concerns: -As you might know, the region experiences frequent and heavy sargassum outbreaks during most of the year. Some areas experience massive arrivals of it while others see very little if any. The clean-up of this seaweed is heavily regulated by local authorities, which prohibits businesses and particulars from removing it unless done through certified cleaning services or the local municipal cleaning program. This forces us to rely on local authorities for beach clean-up, which can take a while depending on how the situation is going everywhere else. -Due to the condition of the beach, as well as the typical corrosion expected from being located in front of the sea, electronic ammenities like elevators can fail without warning. In order to get them back in working condition we have to send for specialized technicians from the elevator company, who'll schedule their visit at the earliest convenient time. Due to the other Penthouses being occupied by other guests, our teammates at the Reservations department offered an upgrade just accross the unit you were staying in, on a tower that had an operating elevator and at no additional cost. The upgrade was refused and no other comment was made after the refusal. At the same time, we'd like to remind you that refunding reservations made from external OTAs and travel agencies must be done through the service or company you made the reservation from and depends on the type of reservation made. We are sorry to have been unable to meet your expectations for your stay and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday in Playa del Carmen regardless. Like getting a 2 bedroom condo in a hotel We had a 2 bedroom penthouse which was nice and clean. The private rooftop and hot tub with views of Cozumel was amazing. Daily maid service Daily passes to a nearby gym (60 second walk) 24 hour front desk Bed and pillows were super comfy. We slept like babies. There are a couple of super loud nightclubs just around the corner, but we couldn't hear a thing inside our condo Location can't be beat. The main drag is maybe a 2 minute walk, beach is even closer Each one of the staff members was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again

I lost my iPhone on the first day, leaving it behind on the transport van that brought us from the Cancun airport to the hotel. Daniel et al at the Concierge desk persisted late that first evening and tracked down the driver that had my iPhone. I got it back the next morning and was able to jumpstart into vacation mode! The location of the place was excellent, with beach access and very close to the lively fifth avenue. Had breakfast once, it was very good. I would not hesitate to stay there again. We had two bedrooms, a big fridge and microwave in a pretty well stocked kitchen. The internet worked reasonably well too. Everyone who worked there was friendly in their interactions. The place is quite appealing and on the beach, but better access for beach swimming are short distances to the north and to the south.…

We stayed at El Taj for a week in April 2023. We were a 3 generational family of 10 occupying 3 rooms. All 3 rooms were exactly as pictured. Choose what you like and expect that it will be exactly as envisioned. One of the rooms was a penthouse with a fabulous rooftop outdoor area. The best part of it was that the rooftop was accessible without having to go through the apartment so we were all able to use it without disturbing the family whose room it was attached to. The staff were very accommodating. The beach is not large and situated by one of the 2 pools. Very enjoyable stay

Just stayed in one of the units for 5 n ights. Have travelled extensively adn this definitely ranks as one of the best places I have stayed. Only a 30-45 min ride from Cancun airport. Can arrange transpo ahead time right through the condo/hotel. The check in was seamless--ladies at front desk so friendly,professional,courteous. The entire staff for that matter is kind,helpful, will help get you whatever you want or need. Erick was always super helpful!!! The facilities are lush,green, decorated beautifully, great breeze form the water. The place is immaculate. Pools are great-clean, beautiful hot tub w built in seats facing the ocean is a nice touch! Some of the units have their own hot tubs. I was so pleasantly surprised by all the amenities like coffee grounds, paper products, water form the dispenser etc- amenities not usually included when I have rented condos . Looved being able to get day passes to the local gym and enjoy yoga, bootcamp etc. Location is perfect. Right on the beach. Sargassum was bad some days but hotels on beach trying really hard to keep it cleaned up-not their fault, problem all along the coasts,even Florida getting hit hard w it. I loved that Taj has its own nice little private beach area, comfy chairs w umbrellas complementary, cute restaurant on beach. Few minute walk north of us is Mamitas Beach and another beach just to south of us, also wlaking,if you want more aciton. Few block walk to 5th ave w all it's shops,restaurants,music.,nightclubs. We stayed here with our two young children over March break and it was an amazing stay. The rooms are large and spacious and impeccably clean. The best are comfortable and the kitchen well-appointed. The pool is clean and shaded (perfect for kids), and the hotel overall didn't feel crowded. It's close to 5th avenue but we didn't hear anything at night - so quiet! I would definitely recommend this for anyone staying in Playa Del Carmen.

I stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo on the third floor with a partial ocean view and loved it. The condo was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There was a hot tub on the deck and we used 1 of the 3 beautiful pools on site. The sargassum was quite bad so we did not go to the beach or beach club, unfortunately the seaweed was bad everywhere this time of year. El Taj was very close to 5th Avenue so was handy for going out for supper but was still very quiet. There was security on site so it felt very safe. The front desk team was always very pleasant and helpful. I would return.

Decided to get away from staying at All-Inclusive resorts for once and so glad we did. The staff were wonderful, the condo was very nice and the beach quiet. We had to call maintenance twice for small things and they were there to fix the issues within minutes. Within easy walking distance to 5th Ave and several great restaurants right around the corner. Just a great stay.

The upside to this very upscale condo resort……breathtaking, (think Bali, Tahiti). There’s a warm inviting staff, fabulous views from the units, ample room. Private palapa terraces for the top floor units include gas grills, refrigerators, hot tubs. As another one posted perhaps “splurge” for that upgrade. We’ve opted to have a meal or 2 prepared by a chef in our condo ….chef Arturo There’s a pool for the beachfront condos and for the beachside units (the back condo building). Eric and Isidro will attend to your luggage, ice for your unit and any other needs. They’re like family. The office manager Javier , attentive, helpful, friendly……as were the housekeeping staff. Polo and the restaurant, beachfront staff will attend to seating beachside, towels, cocktails and food service. A few of the downsides….the beach is small due to erosion and seaweed presents a problem. My understanding is that the government has been charged with addressing these issues which are common place to the Caribbean, Mexico and now Florida. Fishing, dive boats are tethered to the beach areas in front of the resort so swimming in that area presents a problem. To sum this up …..it’s a wonderful resort and an experience that we’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the years!!! Oh, don’t forget your sunscreen lotion lest you have a dermatologist in mind.…

Amazing staff, amazing location. Close enough to Avenida Cinco for easy shopping and dining but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The concierge, front desk and housekeeping staff were non-pariel. Special shout out for Eric (bellman) and Mariam at the concierge desk. Amazing!
