From the walk-in to the hotel to the beach we were in awe, after a stressful need for a relaxing vacation we knew we were in the right spot. The front desk, restaurant and crew were all very accommodating. Nothing like having tequila shots and drinking cervesas on the nice relaxing lounge chairs at nighttime enjoying the breeze and ambiance. Thank you, Franco for making sure we were comfortable and satisfied! It was cool to watch the fisherman bring the catch of the day in from the boats anchored out front. We will definitely be back in the near future 💕🇲🇽
Our trip was during Covid we are a family of 7. We stayed in Room 340 penthouse suite ocean front Amazing- the views were incredible. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The room looks even better than the pictures, and I travel a lot. Loved the restaurant downstairs- we loved the chicken pesto sandwich amazing. Only wish they were open after 5, but its covid so I totally understood. The hotel is very conveniently located easy to walk to everything, the beach area was not crowed with other hotels. If needed they also have a parking lot downstairs. My only complaint was that we lost electricity- but thats expected. Several hotels lost electricity because of construction. The hotel just had us go to another property across the street and my family was able to work from there. Problem solve quickly and very professionally. I would stay there tomorrow if I could. Everyone was sad leaving…
Excellent hotel downtown Playa del Carmen right at the beach. Two beautiful swimmingpools, excellent and friendly doormen. The appartment we rented was well equiped, spacious for 4 people, two bathrooms and a small kitchen, including washing machine. WiFi was good. Beachbeds at your disposal at the beach, unfortunately the beach was Full with seaweed, although it was cleaned every day, multiple times. All in all very good hotel.
We booked a condo for 10 days. It’s a nice set up with fantastic staff and facilities but beachside is very tired and the condo we were in needed a make over. It had all you needed but luxury it wasn’t. We were told Oceanside was newer than beachside so it could be condos are in a better state but I would only give ours 3 out of 5. We had a penthouse condo for 4 but hadn’t realised the sun deck was on the roof and had to go up another set of stairs. We thought you walked out of your patio doors into your private space. It detracts when you have to continually take everything up one set of stairs. We had a nice time but may have chosen differently if we had seen floor plans of the set up. When your paying these prices per night I would expect more. Cleaners did a great job keeping the condos clean but note that unfortunately the seaweed makes the beach smelt and unusable…
Very well run condos with friendly and efficient staff. Kept our condo very clean throughout our stay. Thanks to Eva and her colleagues. El Taj is well situated for 5th Ave. pools are good. Beach is suffering from seaweed but nearby beaches are ok.
Great Service and great location! Highly recommended! The staff is very helpful! the rooms are spacious and very clean! Highly maintenance of the entire place. Wonderful location close to 5th. Avenue.
Overall a good hotel, very centric, lots of restaurants, bars etc. Sargazo is inevitable during its season, Just be aware of when to book. Service was very on point, and the rooms were impecable. Would stay here again.
We had a great stay. This was our second time. The place is beautiful. Breakfast on the beach is awesome every morning. Close to all the restaurants and shops. The beach is disappointing but not much the hotel can do. The people there are wonderful!!
Comfortable and clean condo with excellent customer service. We liked the location. On the beach , close to town yet didn't hear music from clubs. Unfortunately the beach has eroded away so we missed laying out on the beach in front of the condo. Beaches are a short walk away.
We enjoyed our stay at El Taj overall. I had read in previous reviews about some of the issues like the small beach area so we knew what to expect. We stayed for 8 nights at El Taj in the beach-side portion. There is an ocean front part of the building and a beach side part of the building. They are separated by a small street but feel like the same complex. Because the of the sargassum seaweed situation right now, the beach-side may be preferable since it is farther back from the ocean. We were assigned a room in the beach-side portion and I was a little disappointed. I had seen pictures and knew that the penthouse patio had windows looking onto it from the hotel next door. We stayed in #309. There were things that we really liked about the unit. The primary bedroom was spacious. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great. There are some improvements that the owner of the unit should make to improve the unit. There is water damage on the side of the cabinet next to the sink and it looks like plastic was left to melt off the bottom of the dishwasher. The cushions on the upstairs patio are faded and the refrigerator on the upstairs patio is completely rusted out. These would be minor things to fix and would make a big difference in the overall appeal of the unit. We ended up LOVING the upstairs patio and using it a ton. We could see that the patio next to ours was a little better cared for. …
