Property grounds are beautiful, we mostly stayed at the quiet pool but did venture over to the other joining properties. Always able to find shade, and a place to lay your head.
I would decide my wife has being picky when it comes to food and accommodations, she was satisfied, which makes it a great vacation for me, could their improvements ?
Yes . Noticed at times same cooking utensils being used for raw and cooked food. We stayed in room 4229 and prefer to use stairs instead of the tiny elevators noticed piles of raccoon droppings left in stars for up to 3 days , should be cleaned daily, food was okay ,steak need a little more work not like the keg.workers were great deserving of tips .we travel usually 2 times a year and will return if the price was right. Stayed week of november21 to 26

Our ten day stay was from February 04 thru 14th, 2020. The staff appeared to be friendly, helpful and very professional. The food services were very accommodating with food allergies and the foods were some great and some very poor quality. What chef serves burnt pancakes(black). Restaurants were no different. One night great the next night disgusting for the same dish.???? The rooms: Hide a bed mattress was bare springs to sleep on and no effort to swap it out or rectify. Had to use the pillows and hide a bed seat to cover the metal springs. Housekeeping made the bed daily with the cushions and seat being used for a mattress. . The beach was dirty for the whole ten days and a small portion was cleaned the day we left. The beach staff collected dirty disposable drink glasses from the garbage cans and the bartenders hand washed them and served drinks in them again(where is the disinfecting)? The housekeepers make beds and do as little as possible. Sweeping and scrubbing the room floors was not in their duties. So just they gave me slippers and told me to wear them. LOL. If the dirty towels were not left on the floor then they just left them hanging there and you got the same dirty wet towels and facecloths until you tracked them down and demanded clean ones, handing them the dirty ones after the room was supposedly cleaned. Shocked at the lack of cleanliness in the rooms, beach and the bartenders recycling dirty disposable glasses from the garbage and the ground. Good thing I know how to clean myself or I would have been staying in a disgustingly dirty room. Five Star Resort???? Not everyone is indulging in alcohol to the point they don't notice. I noticed, are the food services handled the same as the drink services?????.

Dear DDCCampbell, Thank you for choosing Platinum Yucatan Princess as your holiday destination. We have taken note abou the mattress, and shared the information with the Housekeeping manager. Concerning the cups please know that we have very strict controls for hygiene, which are supervised by Cristal, and external health and safety organization, conducts regular inspections of hygiene and quality that verifies our cleaning measures; I assure you that our glasses are cleaned by industrial machines and not by hand, we have one in every bar or very near from there. We are very concerned that despite of several efforts, we unfortunately failed to please you during your rather short stay. Thank you for staying with us and I hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you.

We paid the upgrade for the platinum room. As far as I can tell, the big difference was being able to go to the sister resort (via shuttle or slightly long walk) and eat at their restaurants. The rooms looked they do in the pictures, but with additional years of wear and tear, so I was a little disappointed. It was nice that we were on "adults only" resort and just a short walk down the beach from the sister resort that was full of busy pools, kids and action. Our pools were much more subdued which was nice for most of our stay.
The beach was disappointing. It's short, lots of seaweed and tons of rocks wherever you go in. The beachside waiting staff was good.
Restaurants on the platinum side were so-so. Definitely had much better. Super annoying that guys have to wear shorts to each restaurant. The food was a bit better at the sister resort and the buffet is 3x's bigger. Guys can also wear shorts to those restaurants. They insist you need to make a reservations for those restaurants even though they are half empty. But you don't have to make reservations for the places on the adult side.
Weather was gorgeous. Drinks melted fast. I was envious of people that brought their own thermos to keep them cold. Definitely going to do that next time!
House cleaners were great and go to the rooms multiple times. They really go above and beyond. Drinking water is scarce. They limit you to 2 bottles of water in ur room per day, or u have to pay for more. Luckily I did have a water bottle from home and was able to fill it up at the larger thermoses at the bars. Sometimes bartenders will give you a bottle of water too.
Next time I will opt to pay more for a nicer place with better food and atmosphere. I ultimately picked this place because it was $500 cheaper (total for my husband and I) compared to other places and reviews weren't bad. So I guess we got what we paid for!

We are here now and it is not a 5 star by far, even with low expectations it is still a disappointment. I am an experienced Caribbean traveller. We are staying in a platinum deluxe room. Nobody picks up the phone when you call for room service, laundry request, pick up of dishes from the miracle room service delivery that was terrible (had to call front desk 4 times before a pick up and they took the order). The eggs ordered as over easy arrived sunny side up and were not even half cooked - you could still see the translucent tone in the egg white. My steak last evening was served blue when I asked for medium. The service has been pitiful at all places. We are big tippers and they still could not be bothered to serve us at bars and restaurants.

Our room is ok nothing platinum by far. Coffee cups were dirty in our room when we arrived as well as other items of uncleanliness. The shower head is dirty, the bathroom garbage can lid is dirty. There is a single person tub in the main room beside the bed with no walls around it. The shower is narrow and very little room to place necessary toiletries. The sink area offers little to no room for necessary items so you are always digging through bags to get what you need on a daily basis. The mini bar is stocked with 2 beer/day and then it is $6 for each one thereafter. I have never experienced this type of restriction EVER at an all inclusive resort. There is also no liquor dispenser in the room. You are also only limited to 3 bottles of water in your room. There are no single use bottles of water on the resort which is fine but make sure to bring a water bottle to fill up at the water dispensers.

The chairs in the resort are awful. There is nothing comfortable about them. Many of them leave lines on the back of your legs and are so low to the ground.

All and all I would advise you to book elsewhere if you have any expectations. Food, rooms and service are of no quality.

Extremely disappointed.

I stayed at the resort Feb. 15th-19th, 2020

The resort was beautiful on the surface. Like simply stunning. However, they had questionable practices that made me uncomfortable. I’d never recommend that place again. I ended up having stomach issues on the last day and still have them today.

They were getting the disposable plastic cups out of the trash cans, or when picking up your cup, washing and reusing them. They did this at every bar at the resort.

This wasn’t a three step, sanitize and re-wash either. I witnessed one of the bars giving the disposable plastic cups a once over.

For as much money as I spent, this is unacceptable, unsanitary (especially when people have colds, flu etc.) I have never in my life stayed at a resort like that. I’m really disappointed.

I will only give one star because the staff that operates the food and drinks are awesome but the rest, leaves a lot to wish for.
My experience: hotel is relatively clean, some rooms are defective no matter the price range you got (we got the deluxe swim out and it was either freezing cold or humid hot in out room), due to Covid, most restaurants and activities to do are closed and they fully know this and they don't do absolutely nothing to either reimburse you or offer you something else. Or package had a special dinner included which was not available because the restaurant where it is hosted it closed and they didn't offer anything else.
We knew their beaches are full of seaweed and the smell can be terrible (smells like rotten fish), but they do absolutely no effort to clean their side of the beach. The neighboring hotels had clean beaches because they had their seaweed removed every day. This affects the ambiance of the hotel as the breeze brings the smell toward the whole resort. Be prepared to spend all your time in the resort pools or to walk a lot to get to other cleaner beaches but there you won't have access to the chairs or umbrellas and no drinks.
Everything they sell in the hotel is extremely overpriced. 3-4 times the price you can get all the closest city. And the fares for the cabs are ridiculous. A cab to the nearest city (4 km) costs $40 USD round trip.
And the cherry on the top was the complete misinformation for the Covid test. Since they don't do the test PCR on the Platinum Yucatan Princess, they send you to take an appointment and the test to the sister resort, only to realize when you come there, they don't have you in their system, don't let you take appointments and they send you back to your original hotel, only to be told the test is available only of you pay $150 USD when in their website of the PYP (platinum Yucatan Princess) says clearly it costs $125 USD and they don't lower the price to honour the information on their website.
We then requested to be directed to other clinics close by and they told us they didn't know any, so then I requested them to help us find some because I'm quite sure more travelers will request this information too, only to be told they couldn't do the search for us and it was not their problem.
Thank God we booked with Sunwing and their representative Juan Carlos helped us sort out this mess and on time to get all our documentation in order before the trip.
We shall never come back to this resort or the sister resort, and rest assured our recommendation will be to stay away from this chain of resorts.

Dear Andrea, Thank you for let us know your experience at the resort. I would like to clarify that the beach is cleaned in daily basis by our staff, in some seasons the seaweed arrive in huge amount, that looks like nobody is cleaning despite of the effort of our staff, we even use a tractor to be more efficient and sometimes this is not enough. Regarding the covid test, the hotel don't provide any test however to facilitate finding a place where you can get a PCR test in our sister resort we let a trusted provider put an office where all guests if they wish can take the antigen and PCR tests, those days they experienced some delays in the procedures, but these were solved. Best regards.

We are at the end of a 14 day stay in this hotel....probably a bit too long, 10 days would have been fine. Even though there are five very good restaurants, the novelty has worn off and we find it difficult to make a choice. But to be clear, the restaurants are really excellent in service, presentation and preparation. The buffet is perfectly fine with lots of variety, if lacking in presentation.

The outstanding feature of the resort is definitely the staff. Somebody has done a first class job in training. From the floor sweepers to the waiters to the reception folks, all seem ready to go out of their way to meet guest wishes. you will not fail to get an “Olah” and a smile from everyone.

There are plenty of “off the property” activities and tours available, most of them quite pricey, but a couple are probably necessary to get any value from the Yucatan experience. That said, our trip to Isla Mujeres was a huge disappointment. What was once a quiet collection of fishing villages is now just a zoo. Save your money and your sanity. A shopping trip into Playa del Carmen is cheap, at $8 return, and a fun break from resort food.

The adjacent beach is not excellent, but perfectly adequate.

In summary, an excellent vacation choice and good value for the money.

What stared out as an elopement turned into a small wedding with five guests at the Princess Yucatan adults only resort in Riviera Maya. We had several hurdles along the way, with uncertainty around number of guests until the week before and me loosing my passport and almost having to cancel the trip. In the end, I had my perfect wedding by the sea thanks to our phenomenal wedding planner - Emma.

Emma works at several Princess resorts and is an all-star wedding planner. Her outstanding work started with recommending that we get married on the rooftop, not the beach due to the high amount of seaweed present during the summer. I trusted her from the beginning.

Emma was flexible as we changed packages several times (we ended up choosing the Princess Package) and maintained a strong attention to detail along the way. She went above and beyond to ensure that we got the most out of our package and that all elements were delivered. This included messaging me through WhatsApp, clarifying the nuptial breakfast menu with a new chef and hand delivering the rose petals to decorate our room. She even called my cell and room when we almost missed our dinner reservation for our group the night before.

Enough cannot be said about the high quality of Emma's work. She is an expert in what she does, and sets a new standard for all resorts in Cancun. Thank you, Emma for making our special day so memorable!

I went to this hotel with my wife between 30th December 2019 to January 6th 2020. Our stay was much less than we expected. Let's start with the good things first:

1. The resort has very nice restaurants where you can dine at night with a lot of food variety from steaks, Italian, Asian, and Caribbean food.

2. The beach was nice and the bar and restaurant by the beach are excellent!

3. Room service was excellent! You could order food at anytime to your room and the staff are super friendly when they bring in your order. They even call you to double check if you are satisfied with your order.

4. The spa is good! treatments are great. We got a massage from Analy and Adriana and they were both very professional.

5. Entertainment is excellent with different shows every day.

NOW LET'S MOVE ON TO THE NEGATIVES:

1. The concierge lady who worked on January 1st 2020, was the rudest staff member I ever encountered. We went to ask where we could find the best place to relax (pool, beach...etc) and she responded with "Go look yourself and if you can't find then there is no space for you". It was shocking!

2. The pools of this resort are small and poorly designed. If you also do not wake up early to reserve your seat by the pool, then you'll probably end up relaxing in your room for the rest of the day.

3. The buffet offers no variety of food and nothing special. I expected much more from it.

4. A lot of random and sketchy people on the beach try to sell you items on the beach. It is very annoying and uncomfortable. They will disturb you all the time!!! This is a 1 star hotel move!

5. Although our room was cleaned twice a day, the bed sheets always smelled very bad even after they were changed. It was actually hard to sleep because of the smell.

There are a lot of other resorts that offer way better cleanliness and fun than this hotel. Booking here was a big mistake. For a little more we could've had a much better experience.

We have stayed at both the Grand Sunset and Grand Riviera sides of this resort and decided to try something a little fancier this time around. Upon arrival we were greeted by the concierge and directed to the lobby for check in. The check in process was quick and painless. As I recall the other two resorts have a little more volume and therefore a longer line of people checking in. This wasn't the case at the Platinum. Check in lasted maybe 5 minutes. We were excited to get to our room so we didn't wait for the bell boy to take our luggage and instead opted for the five minute walk to our swim up suite. I requested a king size bed and that my room not be too close to the swim up bar as we wanted to have some privacy but be close enough to hear the music and not have the music be overbearing. What they have is was the perfect balance of those requests. Upon entering the room we were treated to a bottle of fairly decent champagne on ice which we both enjoyed!

Check in and first impression was very good!

The pool was great! And the party was mostly fairly good but we didn't partake too much in that aspect of this vacation. If you want to party more at the pool the other two resorts offer a little more of that than the Platinum as it was mostly very mellow.

The buffet impressed us everyday as we tried something new often. I personally thought breakfast/lunch and dinner were good enough that I didn't need the specialized restaurants. We did, however, partake in the Rodeo restaurant one night.
The last night we were there they had fresh bbq lobster and it was the best lobster I've almost ever had. Props to Brian at the dinner buffet who was always awesome and fun.

The beach was as expected from the other two hotels. Difficult to navigate the rocks on a windy day and not great to swim in but laying on the beach was certainly nice to enjoy from time to time.

The club on the Platinum side is pretty well vacant every night so if you want to have that experience the sports bar and club on the other two resorts is better. Since you have a Platinum bracelet you also have access to some of the top shelf liquor on the other two resorts which was nice.

Room service was also a nice touch and while the selection wasn't amazing it was always quick and they even followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was satisfactory.

My only complaint is that the sheet on our bed wasn't fitted and would easily come out every night revealing the mattress protector which was water proof because of the swim up room. Obviously that wasn't exactly comfortable to sleep on.

All in all it was the perfect relaxing vacation we needed to escape the weather in Canada. I've been to all three of the princess resorts now and must admit that not one of them has disappointed me!

Side note: it would have been cool to have an A La Carte breakfast restaurant that specializes in different breakfast items.
