We had 4 people who had spent a week at Grand Sirenis in Akumal. (Very nice resort) We wanted to spend 3 days in Playa to see the sights and play there. We totally lucked out on Magic Blue. It was like a tree house hotel around a pool. What a great transition from staying at a decadent All Inclusive. We all thought Blue Magic was as cute as could be. A small bar was a nice addition to the pool. Breakfast was very good. The location is pretty far from the ferry building but a cab ride solves that if you are in a hurry to make a boat. Shopping and restaurants around the hotel are very good and Coco Bongo is across the street if you are doing that. It was pretty quiet in our rooms so there was no noise issue where we stayed. The rooms were not resort level but comfortable and nicer than many hotels I have stayed at. If we put together another vacation with a few days in Playa I would definitely look at this hotel.

I requested a quiet room and got it. The hotel surrounds the pool and bar and makes it feel secluded except for the occasional traffic noise that reminds you that you're actually in the middle of a lively city. We arrived around 7 in the evening and it was so nice to go to the bar and be able to order something to eat to go with our margaritas. Manuel the bartender was great as were the front desk people. The shopping street (5th) is only a block away and the beach 2 blocks. There was a great breakfast buffet with many options and lots of fresh fruit. The room was spacious and clean. I loved the simplicity of it and there were bathrobes in the closet, along with an expresso machine. I wouldn't hesitate to return!

Lovely, peaceful and in the middle of everything you need in Playa del Carmen. Loved the bed, very comfy. Breakfast in buffet style, so lost of choice. Everyone very friendly and helpful with anything you might need. The are now building a spa and small fitness.

A hidden hotel in the centre of town. As we got to know Playa del Carmen we relaised how perfect the location was. 2 streets away from 5th avenue(the busy shopping street) and easy walking to distance to all restaurants, the beach, collectivo(public transport) and banks/convenience stores etc. The hotel is surrounded by everything you need Clean rooms, an amzing jungle feel that makes you not realise you in the centre of town. I would say the best part is the pool and jacuzzi with surrounding palm trees etc which is perfect to relax at or when you come back from a busy day out. I previously read reviews about the noise from coco bongo club across the road but it didnt bother us. There are Breakfast was perfect enough to get the day started. It is the same nearly everyday but we didnt mind as it was good and included so we didnt have to go out and search for breakfast. Wifi was good, nice to have a fridge in your room and aircon. Towels always available to take to beach and use at pool. All staff always greeted with a smile when you smiled at them. A few names that we remembered were Belen at reception (always went out her way to assist when you needed info or assistance with tours, taxis etc), Angel gentleman at reception, Elvira a waitress at Breakfast who were always so helpful. Thank you. A trully pleasurable stay at Magic blue and would definitely return again. Miss it already.
