All bungalows have A/C, Ceiling Fans and iPod docking stations. The Junior suites come with King Bed and a Futon , Kitchenette, Fridge, Micro, Coffee-maker and all Boutique amenities .The bungalows are built in a typical local style with thatched roofs made of dried and woven palm-tree leaves. They all have tiled flooring and private bathrooms with a shower or bath. Cocos Cabanas offers both Mexican and international cuisine, including pizzas made in Coco's wood-fired oven(Lobster-Pizza), grilled Shrimp, Lobster and Steaks and a range of Mexican appetizers and Main dishes such as Mole poblano, Guacamole,Mixiote, Ceviche or Quesadillas. Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We recently stayed here for about a week and quite enjoyed the property.
Pros:
All staff were very nice and courteous, Rene's is the only name I knew and he was great. The owners Sylvia and Helmut are usually around and are also very accommodating.
The onsite restaurant was very good, we tried a variety of dishes during our stay and enjoyed them all. Pizza is their signature dish and was good but the stuffed fish and poblanos were amazing!
Margaritas and Daiquiris were amazing.
The property is beautiful, the room we had was pleasant. It is generally quiet however there is occasionally construction work next door.
The beach club next door was great, you get 20% off and everyone was friendly. Beach front and swimming is beautiful (nearby),
Cons:
It is a 300 peso ride from downtown Playa del carmen, not much around the area. A plus if your seeking tranquility I guess.
The water in the shower/sink is slightly salty, not an issue for me others may be annoyed.

My wife and I and several friends went to Cocos Cabanas recently. As always, they did not let us down. The service was great, the food was perfect (Caesar salad, wood fired all meat Pizza, fish and more). Everything was delicious. Jose was playing the saxophone and is very talented and knows his music. The atmosphere is terrific and Silvia is always around mingling and checking on things. Thank you for a tremendous evening. We have been there several times and it never disappoints.

Upon my arrival my party was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the owners Silvia and Helmut who sat us by the gorgeous pool under the cool palapa. Our server - Rene - is without question one of the most interesting, happy, warm, and vivacious people we met on our trip. His smile and personal touch made us feel relaxed and at home. Rene recommended the octopus , lobster linguini, calzone, and my personal favorite the mango ceviche. To say we loved every single succulent juicy bite of every dish Is quite the understatement. I have never had a better tasting ceviche in my 4 decade long life. The cocktails were handcrafted and the flan desert was a heavenly explosion of flavor. Rene also is quite the resource in obtaining everything under the sun for his clientele. We absolutely adore this place and it is one of our go to places for fine dining. It was amazing !!!

We were staying in a nearby resort (who also served meals) but we had been hearing raving reviews on Facebook about Cocos so decided to try it. Unfortunately, it was on our last night so our ONLY regret was that we only got to eat there once. We come back every October though so you haven't seen the last of us! We're also considering staying in one of the cute cabanas next year! The food was absolutely incredible. Everyone tried something different and NO ONE was disappointed. I even had a GREAT Birthday celebration at the end of our meal. Can't say enough for Marco, our great waiter and all the other staff as well. Everyone was SO warm and welcoming! We look forward to our next visit!!!

I came here with my girlfriend for a friends birthday party and this place is a nice quiet getaway if you like boutique hotels.
Because it’s close to the ocean there are mosquitos so be prepared but the staff are very friendly and will provide for you if you don’t have it.
By far the best part of this hotel are the staff, this hotel is not typically my style but the owner and the staff treat you like family. I have friends who visit this place monthly and become actual family. It warms my heart and they are very attentive.

We got tired of the food in our resort and found this amazing restaurant. Really friendly staff and passionfruit margaritas to die for. Take me back!
We ate there four or five times on our one week holiday, I cannot sing its praises highly enough. All of the Mexican food was delicious, the pizzas as good as any I’ve had, but the real highlights that I will remember forever were the freshly caught fish on special one day, the tuna tostada and the banana and coconut ice cream desert.
If you are staying in Playa Del Carmen make sure you have at least one lunch or dinner at this absolute jewel of a restaurant.

Quite hard to find but you either enter through mvngata, exit the property and walk around towards the left, following the signs or you arrive from the road and take a left before the driveway up the viceroy hotel (yellow signs are around).
Once you find it you will feel at home immediately. A small pool, some cozy hammocks and monkeys!
You are welcomed warmly and should start off with a smooth margarita. absolute excellent service! try the fish of the day, maybe one of the best fishes you will ever eat but the pizza is also freshly habdmade and baked in their oven. Mezcal afterwards is a must.
A true gem with plenty of customers in the evening so make sure to arrive on time.
It is rare to find such an amazing, simple, yet excellent place like this so well worth the search and selected locals know :)

So we are back at Cocos as I type this. I think this is either our 4th or possibly 5th visit since we discovered this hidden gem of a hotel/resort/restaurant . Silvia and Helmut are the most friendly gracious hosts you could ever wish to meet . The food is literally to die for , everything on the menu is beautifully made , presented and tasty. You have to try the wood fired pizzas and calzones . .Calm relaxing pool and dining area and the sandy beach is a two minute walk away . Come for lunch/dinner I guarantee you will want to stay . Well kept cabanas for your stay are more than you need . All the staff are attentive and ready to help you enjoy your stay . It has to be good if we keep coming back . Avoid the crowds and noise of the big resorts try Cocos you won’t be disappointed .

This restaurant was in a cute little area next to the beach and had amazing food. When you walk in there are some small birds and an adorable cute dog that you can stroke. After that we sat down and at our food which was amazing and for dessert you can get a delicious Nutella and fruit pizza. So overall it was an incredible place to go!

This place is a hidden jewel!! Barret and Iliana are the most hospitable hosts and made us so welcome we were like friends after the first few days. We stayed in the cabanas…eight studio suites facing into a central courtyard and pool. Visitors quickly become friends. Grocery stores are nearby as well as shopping and the town central. Everything is within walking distance including the ocean and Malecon, a seaside walkway lined with restaurants and coffee bars. This is a place to relax and unwind. Be sure to take a tour to Coronado Island for a day out on the water sightseeing, fishing, snorkeling and swimming. We had such a wonderful time here, we will definitely be back!

No there is not direct beach access to Cocos Cabanas but there are beaches a short walk away. Food and drinks are totally worth it though.
Not sure about renting a chair and umbrella as our resort was on the beach with our own private chairs/umbrellas.
I use kinmont Cancun shuttle. You can contact them at Cancun-transfers. com
They take you from the airport to your hotel and back. Very punctual. Have a personalized sign with your last name at the airport. Been using them for years
There are more places to choose from in the Playa del Carmen area.
