The food here was lacking. Lacked flavor. Italian restaurant was disappointing. we order 9 dishes. The steak was not cooked as requested. order medium rare and the steak was dry you can tell it was cooked fast and all the juices bleed out. when arrived to the table it was dry and lacked salt. many of the dishes lack salt. Husband is Italian and this was a poor representation of Italian cuisine. Pasta was over cooked. the best part was the bread and garlic confit. the olive oil lacked flavor and it was rancid. I asked to speak to the chef and provided constructive criticism. the tacos at the beach cafe were delicious but the tortillas feel apart had to use fork to eat the pulpo. Service at the breakfast buffet was slow. order cappuccino and it was cold by the time it arrive to the table. need salt and pepper not available on the tables. Food was fair at the buffet. salmon and cold cuts smelled awful. best part was the quesadillas and the fresh juice . The best part of the trip was the HIX bar lounge. we ate sushi for lunch and dinner for 3 days. delicious. the service at the bar was great enjoyed the bartender Roberto he made the tequila tasting fun and memorable. Walking trails need to be labeled more often. I was easy to get lost on the mayakoba property. The Fairfield is not a luxury resort. The beach was horrible with all the seaweed and the chairs are not maintained well. I sat down and the chair was broken. I cut my leg. Pool was dirty. People were drinking and leaving cups in the water. Played a round of golf at the chameleon. I was a nice course, very well maintained. I would return to play golf. I was very disappointed in my stay. I would not recommend this resort. I paid full price, while other guests paid a promotion price and discussed it at the pool with other guest. The class of people at the resort was disappointing to be considered luxury. There is no nightlife on the resort. In the room the shower pressure was low and the water didn't get very hot. room balcony was open when we arrived there for the room was hot and muggy. took a while to cool off. the safe didnt work we had to call to have repaired. Internet on the property was weak. I wouldn't not recommend if you need to work remotely, internet wifi was slow and constantly dropped signal. I travel all over the world for business and pleasure. I also post on social media exposing the truth about locations, never believe the pictures on the website disappointed that your company and investors (snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Expedia and yelp) always providing sincere feedback. when I review hotels and restaurants. This was my anniversary weekend with my husband. Good luck with your renovations. Your resort can be beautiful from the outside but please make changes with your food and hire more staff to serve at the restaurants.

Hotel's Favorite
My fiance and I have traveled the world including lots of resorts & homes throughout Mexico. We have been to the Riveria Maya many times previously; hence we decicded to take break for a few years from Playa de Carmen since it was just too busy. Recently we decided at the last minute to book into the Fairmont Mayakoba over the Christmas Holidays and much to our delight we were overwhelmed with such incredible gracious and generous hospitality. From the monent we arrived Eduardo, the front desk manager greeted us in perfect English and asked us how our travels were. He was kind and genuinely interested. Quickly he surmised that we had something more in mind than just a std room and went to bat for us in securing an upgrade. Needless to say that when we arrived at the Camaleom Suite (aka the Presidential Suite) which was beachfront with a beaurtful pool and luxurious accommodations, we were blown away ! To be honest we could not have been happier with the suite, that is UNTIL we met the most amazing and dedicated hospitality employee ever, who also happended to be our very own butler, Mr David Loranzo. His kindness and willness to "serve" never waivered and no request was too small (or silly..) From shopping for gifts to bringing fresh towels and ice, he set a very high bar for the rest of the staff. David was an intregal part of this vacation being so special. BUT...it didnt stop there. Daily we met Mar (she was part of the transport team) as well as Edgar who was a valet out front. They made it ther mission to ensure we made every reservation on time and there was nothing left to be asked for. Again two very valuable and decicated employees. This was a recurring theme and canidly 6 nights completed spoiled us for any future vacation. Mind you not all can afford or NEED the Camaleon Suite but I promise you we will not stay elsewhere on Quintana Roo. If your travels take you South of the Border, give the Fairmont a long hard look and dont be afraid to ask (and pay) for the upgrade. Well worth it. We will be back. Tripp & Kendra

We had a great time at the fairmont Mayakoba. This was a great four star property and we look forward to coming back once all the renovations are complete. Covid info: When we traveled there were no requirements to enter Mexico. The U.S. was requiring a negative covid test to re-enter the country. The hotel provided a rapid test free of charge. We showed documentation at the airport when getting our boarding pass. Overall it was a smooth process. Hotel: The property is the best part in my opinion. Its spread out and there is so much to do. Its also very unique because you have both the lagoon/forrest areas and the sandy beaches. Because of renovations some things were closed, but it really did not get in the way of anything. There are several other hotels within the property which you can go to, which made up for some things beings closed. When we first arrived the beaches were overridden with seaweed, it smelled and was not enjoyable to be at or in the ocean. We were informed that it was impart due to the season, and also because of the previous weeks storms. By the end of the trip the hotel had cleared most of the seaweed and conditions improved so we were able to enjoy the beach. It was quite the undertaking to keep the beaches clear, so I commend the hotel there. It is sad to see the impacts of global climate change negatively impact such a beautiful beach that did not have this issue ten years ago. Thankfully it was cleared away and we got to enjoy the beach and go snorkeling. Activities: You will not run out of things to do here. On top of the beaches and pools, we enjoyed going on bike rides or the golf cart rides around the sprawling property. There is also a really nice lagoon boat ride you can go on as many times as you want. The boat ride is “free of charge” but there is a daily fee for this charged to your room regardless of use. We also enjoyed going on the catamaran ride (free of charge). The highlight for us was snorkeling. There is a charge to snorkel, but they take you out for an hour and it was well worth the fee. Lastly, we did a spa day which was amazing. The spa facilities were awesome, and you get access to a separate spa pool which was quiet and peaceful. You can pay for just the spa access without getting a treatment, it was $40 usd. Food: The food was the biggest let down of the whole trip. It is expensive, which is to be expected when going to a resort like this. However, the quality and options were lacking. The main restaurant was closed for renovations and the other options were not that great. The highlight was the breakfast buffet, which was altered and covid safe. There were many options and it was delicious especially the daily Mexican specialties. La laguna was mediocre, which was disappointing since we were most looking forward to great Mexican food. El puerto (Italian food) was beyond bad. We are not too picky with food, but this was an expensive dinner which we truly did not enjoy and could not finish because it was so unenjoyable. We ended up eating at the other hotels within the property most nights. The Andaz and Banyan Tree had great dining options. We ended up leaving some of the food credit we pre-paid for on the table. After trying the restaurants at the Fairmont we ended up eating most of our meals at the other properties (besides breakfast). I was very pleased that the hotel switched to reusable glass water bottles in the rooms and restaurants. Its such a waste to throw away so many plastic water bottles. Because of this theres was a charge for water at the restaurants. The water in the room was free, so we usually asked for extra. Room: Our room was spectacular. We upgraded to a lagoon view room, which I highly recommend. We had a great view and got to see wildlife every morning when we woke up. The room was spacious, clean, and had a great balcony with chairs. The bathroom and walk in shower was pretty awesome as well. This property well earned a four star rating. I could not give a five star rating when objectively comparing to a property like the four seasons. The service was excellent, but not above and beyond, and there is much room for improvement with the dining and food. That being said, this is still a great property and you wont be disappointed. I truly look forward to coming back when the renovations are complete!

Very welcoming, this property is very relaxing just what my family needed, you have space to chill and relax we had a signature casita on the lagoon so beautiful. The staff was outstanding the food was good and riding the bikes around the property was so much fun, we had a blast will definitely want to come back after the remodel is finished. The beach staff were so nice a attentive to all details kudos to all of them. The only down fall was the sea grass " sargaso" is was so bad and smelly not the property's fault they tried so hard to keep the beach clean but it was a major issue. on the bright side the property was so nice we had the best time could of chosen a better property to visit can't imagine what it will look like once the remodel is done and we visit again with no sea grass. Thank you Fairmont Mayakoba for the great experience and relaxing stay for my family.

Fairmont Mayakoba never disapoints. Very friendly and accomodating staff, the dining options are fantastic and the food is great. The property is gorgeous and private butler Daniel made sure every need was satisfied. They are undergoing renovations and the seaweed is prevalent this year, but neither impacted my enjoyment.
