Where do I start… my husband and I came here for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have dreamed of a better honeymoon…. From the second we got dropped off at the resort, we knew we were in for a special vacation. Every employee we interacted with was beyond kind and accommodating. We felt like kings and queens! We want to take a moment to recognize some of the staff that went way above and beyond to making our vacation a dream… I wish I had words to express our gratitude. Monica from Butler Services, she made our trip!! Her service was unmatched. She made sure we were taken care of start to finish. Including making sure I had all of the gummy bears I wanted 😉 thank you Monica. You were simply amazing!!!!! Juan Carlos, Juan gave us the most informational boat tour EVER! We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with you. We became quick friends and I thank you for your time and knowledge! We felts so celebrated with you. Eber from La Brisas, you my friend were the BEST!!!!! We met you our second day and on day three you remembered our names, our room numbers and what we wanted to drink. You serve thousands of guests and you remembered us and made us feel beyond special. We had everything we could ever need while you were serving us… thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Jose at La Laguna, you were so accommodating! I am gluten free and you made sure I had all of the bread and sweet bread I could ever want! You took it a step further to ask me what time I wanted breakfast the next day so you could ensure the bread was waiting for me… wow… that is exceptional service! You were so very kind and starting our morning off with you was amazing. Thank you!! Thank you Fairmont for our dream vacation! Your staff is top notch and unlike anything we have ever experienced before. We will be back and cannot wait to visit our friends Monica, Juan Carlos, Eber and Jose. Everyone needs to come here once in their life and request each of them… you’ll thank us later!

Hotel's Favorite
My husband and I just got married at the Fairmont Mayakoba on August 5th and when I say it was the most amazing day/weekend of our lives I mean it! If you’re looking for a destination wedding, I couldn’t recommend the Fairmont Mayakoba more. From getting basic info and locking in our contract with Xavier, to planning the wedding with my wedding coordinator Maricarmen, the whole process was seamless. Their attention throughout the whole process made planning a wedding all the way in New York so easy and I felt strongly that we were in great hands. They have an amazing list of vendors, from Cherry Blossom for flowers, Dream Art for photography and Encore for DJ/Music. Everyone was so professional. We had beautiful welcome bags made by Arly at Décor and Gifts which were also a huge hit. The hotel is absolutely STUNNING! We had sixty people at our wedding coming from all over North and South America who all stayed in different rooms that were all newly renovated. We stayed in their Signature Casita Suite, and it was GORGEOUS! The resort has an amazing balance of jungle and beach, they have golf carts that take you all over the resort and you also get to dine at the other three hotels in the Mayakoba property. Their beach is beautiful, no seaweed and no waves. They have many activities included in your stay like paddleboarding and a boat tour through their canals that is totally worth it. Their breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve had, their steak house Tauro is brand new and DELICIOUS! The food at the beach during the day is great, we loved the ceviche, guacamole and quesadillas and of course the drinks were to die for. The food and drinks at our welcome cocktails and wedding reception were FENOMENAL! We had the most delicious strawberry margaritas for everyone when they arrived, and everyone is still talking about them. Their lobby bar is brand new, and they have some great sushi! The staff is so welcoming, super attentive and extremely professional. Our butler Miguel was super helpful, the spa was amazing, Dory who handled our turndown service, was the best, room service was quick and the front desk staff was so helpful and happy to help at any time. It’s been two weeks since our wedding and our friends and family are still reaching out raving about the trip/wedding. They have a beach club with a handful of restaurants opening very soon so we’re planning to return as soon as we recover from our trip. This place will forever hold a very special place in my heart and we will 100% be going back soon.

Honestly, very disappointing, and underwhelming. Unless you're going to a conference at this hotel, I would recommend staying someplace else within the Mayakoba complex. Feels very old and outdated. --

Beyond delicious! When I travel, I love to explore the local culture through the food. I am game for trying local off-beat dives, take cooking classes or Michelin star restaurants. You can learn a lot about history, culture, geography and most importantly the people through cuisine. La Cantina Esmerelda did not disappoint! I am here with my husband, mother-in-law and three boys (5, 3 and 2 months old) and just wanted a margarita and carnitas tacos. Instead, I enjoyed a buffet a local delicacies. The Paloma had fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. The tortilla chips were served with a plate of local “salsas” and toppings (see pic). The aquachile was perfect - the shrimp were flavorful and light. Overall a very refreshing dish (unfortunately I took the picture after I ate half of the dish). When the pescadillas arrived, I had no clue what to expect when these empanadas arrived. This dish stands out for how fresh the red snapper tasted. You must try. Then the tacos hit the table - freshly made blue corn tortillas. Beef tacos were delicious and the pork huc were superb. They had a subtle Smokey grilled taste. We polished everything off with churros con caramel - order the churros (don’t hesitate - I thought I was transported back to Madrid). As for the kiddos - unsurprisingly they are picky. Yoshi was extremely accommodating and the chef made chicken fingers and quesadillas for the boys. Also, it would be really cool if they added a tortilla making station - at breakfast you can watch the chef make the tortillas and quesadillas. Also Bassano’s pizza oven is outside and we watched the chefs make the pizzas last night. This would be a hit with kids (plus I loved watching the chef at breakfast make the quesadillas). I suggested that they add a flight of tequila cocktails - here’s hoping I get to enjoy it next time as I hope to visit the Fairmont again! Final note - we were their first customers. I was surprised by how smoothly everything was running. Our terrific waiter Yoshi apologized for the spacing between courses but honestly there was nothing to apologize for. Service was amazing and the hospitality was even better - Yoshi, Yuniel, Fernando and Leo (and the head waiter whose name I am forgetting) were all attentive and added amazing anecdotes that made the food, cuisine and culture come alive!

We enjoyed an outstanding stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba from September 29 - October 2, 2022. Our transportation from the airport to the resort went very smoothly. Registration was simple, and we were greeted in the lobby by our person butler, Edgar Benavides. Edgar and his excellent service took our trip to the next level. He escorted us to our room, which was delightful. Our room attendants throughout the stay, Adriana, Dory, and Raul Angel, kept the suite immaculate and well-stocked. Edgar was a huge help in our dining experience. We had a brochure and also downloaded the resort app, but soon found that the information was not always up to date. It seems that the resort had recently renovated and had some different dining options. No worries because a quick text to Edgar, and we were on our way to delicious dining that suited our needs. The vegetarian and vegan offerings at the Laguna breakfast were fantastic! We also enjoyed a phenomenal meal at Brisas on Saturday, where our waiter had the chef talk with us prior to ordering. The meatless option on the menu looked delicious, but my wife was interested in what else they could offer. She chatted with the chef and soon had a wonderful meal. Our waiter (wish I had remembered his name!) even had a local mocktail prepared for her which she really enjoyed. Another evening our group had plated meals which were a delicious surf-and-turf deal, while my wife had a vegan stuffed poblano that she said was fantastic. Our last evening meal was at Bassano and was another home run for both meat-eaters like myself and vegetarians like my wife. Superb service at ALL dining locations. Only hiccup was that info online and in brochure was not always up to date, but again, Edgar made it all very seamless! The beach was clean, the water had no seaweed, the dining options were many, and the drinks were cold and refreshing. Our waiter (Carlos, I believe) kept us well-supplied and was never more than a moment away. It was really amazing to walk the beautiful paths, take a bike ride, and just relax on the beach. We did enjoy a personal boat ride through the canals, captained by Ulises. He was very knowledgeable and personable--great experience! Last but certainly not least, my wife had let our butler, Edgar Benavides, know that my birthday was during our trip. We returned from a great day out and about to find ice cold champagne and an exquisite cake waiting for us in our room! Not sure how he did it, but the ice in the bucket had not even started to melt! He included a personal birthday card and wish. I was happy and my wife was happy--win, win! We went on this trip as part of a larger group of couples. We had such a fantastic stay that we are planning our next trip there on our own!

I am eternally grateful to Alfonso, the bellman for his graciousness, his warmth and caring hospitality . I will always remember what he told me and how he helped me when I was not feeling well. This type of hospitality comes from the heart and soul and employees like him are ireplacable. God bless Alfonso and his family. I am eternally grateful for Dr Adrian Hernandez who is one of the best doctors I ever had and it took me going to Mayakoba and getting sick to meet him. Whoever is under his care can be assured they will be under the best care. Gabriella and Ms Cruz were excellent and very helpful Sincerely, LISA I

We stayed there for a weekend on a short trip. The pace is almost duly renewed. Major improvements also in food quality and options. They implemented a seaweed barrier that gives the beach an even better experience. And the personnel wow, devoted to give us the best possible experience without being invasive. Everyone is awesome, but look for Giancarlo at the pool next to the beach, Ezequiel at La Laguna restaurant he has been working there for more than 10 years he has good tips all the time, Luz at the pool too very interested in having you settle down and when you arrive ask for Jorge Ayala he will expedite your registration and give you a proper welcome.

Staff was hostile toward providing any vegan options despite being assured it wouldn’t be an issue before arrival. Was regularly only served half the items clearly listed on the menu for their “vegan breakfast,” because apparently they didn’t have fruit and potatoes regularly. Paid $32+ USD for each of these really sad breakfast meals because the restaurant offerings were worse. Room 4207 smelled like mildew from not cleaning the AC and the bathroom vent not working, they sent a dehumidifier up and made me manage and empty it my entire stay.
