I traveled to the beautiful Fairmont Mayakoba with three other families for a fun filled spring break in February 2022. On our fifth day at the resort my husband had a seizure and was subsequently admitted to the ICU with a brain tumor. He and I spent the last three days of the trip at the hospital. Thankfully, I we were traveling with other families that could step in with my kids and get them home since my husband and I needed to take a medical transport. When I checked out of the resort for on our final day, I wasn't upset but I was very emotional. I briefly explained my story and asked that the fee for the resort doctor be removed from my bill (don't trust the doctor, go to the hospital). This request was granted and I was asked to wait a minute to meet with the Director of Operations, Mr. Rafael Torres. Mr. Torres sat with me and listened, he apologized for the 'subcontracted' doctor and gave me his card and said to contact him if I needed anything. Over the next few months, I interacted with a significant number of people from hospitals, hotels, and doctor’s offices. What all of these interactions confirmed is that the Fairmont Mayakoba resort did nothing for me. Not one person inquired about our situation. Not once did the resort staff offer to transport me to/from the hospital when I called to ask for a taxi each morning. Just nothing. That was the first failure. The second occurred when I reached out to Mr. Torres via email to express that I felt his resort did not handle my situation well. I ended my email saying, "From one human being to another, the Mayakoba failed to be there for me and my family during the most difficult and challenging time in my life". He didn't even bother to respond. Again, just nothing. I am not typically a person to complain but the lack of 'customer service' from a resort of this caliber it beyond disappointing.

The saving grace of this hotel is the staff, unfortunately the way that the hotel administration runs is not very accommodating. Having to make reservations for restaurants that are empty? Waiting 30 minutes for a golf kart, getting a notice of not having hot water for more than 24hrs? Requesting an extra garbage bin for diapers and never receiving it. Bogus “gratuity” “tip” explanations. I unfortunately felt it was not even a 4 star hotel.

We had an absolute blast at Mayakoba. The property is beautiful, the people go over the top to make sure you are taken care of, the food is delicious. For an all inclusive the food is the best I’ve had, I would pay for the food without all inclusive. Monica was our butler. I hadn’t ever used a butler before and I will every time now. She was amazing! Went over the top for everything we needed. We went to the other properties for dinner and the food was all good! Highly recommend, especially once the renovations are complete.

My family and I had an absolute blast at Mayakoba Fairmount. My children, 7 and 9, had an amazing time with so much to do! Juan with water sports is the BEST between the catamaran tour and our private snorkeling tour- our family will never forget these wonderful adventures!!! We will definitely be back!

I'm not typically someone that plans resort vacations because I usually prefer to get out, meet the locals, find an adrenaline rush, and experience the culture...but after my friend visited the Fairmont Mayakoba 3 times and planned a birthday trip as her 4th visit to Mayakoba, I agreed. To say I experienced one of my favorite trips is an extreme understatement. We were able to paddle board, sail, visit a cenote (on property!), swim in the pool and the ocean, and ride bikes - all included in our resort fee. We got to experience the culture and meet the friendliest locals with our amazing staff that provided 5-star service each and every day. I've never received better service! Having all inclusive was the icing on the cake. This being my first all inclusive experience, I always imagined that all inclusive service and food would be mediocre, but the food was some of the best I've eaten...and the same goes for the wine and the cocktails! Not what I was expecting at all - the quality completely blew me away! My mouth is still watering over the sushi and fresh seafood - the trout at Tauro is a must! Words cannot express our deepest thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff who missed no detail and went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty, while making us feel like part of their family at the same time! They remembered our names, food orders, favorite cocktails, our seating preferences, and even suggested having breakfast delivered to the room one morning. On a morning we were running late, the golf cart driver had already called ahead to inform our captain we were on our way. Everything was carefree and easy. Many, MANY thanks to: Moises who greeted us with cocktails and had sushi waiting for us upon our arrival. Monica and Herman took perfect care of us at our beach dinners and brunches. Heber kept us hydrated and our stomachs full every day on the beach. We had so much fun getting to know him, and appreciated our beach send-off with personal mementos on our last day. Icing our wine in a plastic beach bag full of ice was an added bonus that I will never forget! Francisco was our favorite at Hix bar, even sending us off with one last sushi meal and our favorite cocktail with only 9 minutes before our airport transport arrived. Marcos and Oscar took amazing care of our friend before our arrival. Hector always greeted us with a smiling face and took the best care of us at La Playita. Diana made us feel welcome and went above and beyond for us when we were the last to leave the brunch buffet because of our extended boat tour earlier that morning. Eduardo took us anywhere we wanted to go on a beautiful duffy tour of the canal. Giancarlo took exceptional care of us and always greeted us with a friendly, smiling face when we saw him. Jose gave my friend of of the best back massages at the spa that she kept going back for when her neck flared up. Irving was our favorite golf cart driver. Noemi and Miguel took fabulous care of us and our room. We really loved and appreciated our flowers, towel animals, and worry dolls. Deneb, the concierge, made sure we had everything we needed throughout our entire trip, sparing no detail. Thank you to Fernanda, Jorge, and Alejandro for every upgrade provided, all the attention to detail, and for making us feel like royalty and family. We truly appreciate all the friendly faces and relationships we made. I have never received such exceptional service from everyone I met! We miss all of you already and we will be back to see you soon! Regleamos!

we generally love the hotel and this was our second visit, however, the hotel hid that the main pool was closed, the sushi restaurant is undergoing renovations and the main restaurant was closed too, leaving minimal dining options (especially for breakfast). We were sold an upgrade based on how close we would be to the pool, which was important as I had just undergone ankle surgery and was next to the closed pool away from the main building. We did complain to the hotel guest services, who was good enough to refund some money, but that only covered the upgrade and resort fee. As we have a small child we had to get an early breakfast with the only option being your buffet, it ended up being a lot more to spend that we expected. We expect great things once the renovations are complete, but this was not a happy experience that we should have been made aware of. I would recommend putting something on your website as opposed to advertising things that are not available

We just did the catamaran and snorkel trip with Jessur on the beach at Fairmont Mayakoba. It was great! They are working on coral restoration. You could see the newly ‘planted’ coral along with abundant sea life. I was happy to learn about the project and hope they are successful in their efforts.

Dear Fairmont Mayakoba, While the Fairmont family is nothing short of the absolute best this review is for one particular individual. Mr. Jazer Espinoza who works at the beach activities and water sports area. Jezer is an excellent host and leads an amazing catamaran snorkel tour. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Jezer in September 2020 on our first trip back to the Mayakoba since the world shut down. Getting together with Jezer for his guided catamaran snorkel tour is a highlight and we look forward to this every time we visit. Whether you are looking to paddle board, kayak, windsurf, snorkel or taking a ride on the catamaran, don't hesitate to ask for Jezer to be you beach activities specialist. Make sure to give Jezer my regards. Best, Chris K

My wife and I checked in to the Fairmont Mayakoba at the end of April. I am an avid researcher and knew there were renovations going on at the hotel, and we had stayed here before. However, what we did not know was the extent of the closures going on and what limited services were running. Upon checking in, a newly renovated casita room was given to us. We were very impressed with the upgrades and luxurious room. As we were being guided around the property, we were informed the main pool, adults pool + La Laguna restaurant were closed for the renovation, which was failed to be disclosed on the website prior to booking. This is not a beach hotel.......don't let the pictures fool you. The beach is narrow and full of seaweed, and not well cleaned up by the hotel compared to others in Mayakoba. We were shocked to smell the seaweed and have such a thick build up of more than 5-10 feet of seaweed in the water that completely prevented swimming in the ocean. Seeing that the beach was no fun and all the pools were closed except for 1 small one at the entry near the lobby, we requested an immediate checkout. To the hotel's credit, we were able to receive a full refund and immediately checkout. A big thank you to Lupita for her understanding. This is is an incredible hotel that I have stayed at before.....just wait until the renovation is done in Sept 2022 to visit and book! The renders of the beach club and pools look incredible...but for now......avoid it, and enjoy it when it fully reopens. I am putting this review out there as a warning to those thinking about booking right now during renovations. I wish I would have seen this and booked elsewhere.
