Nestled amid lush jungle surroundings, Fairmont Mayakoba earns rave reviews for its cleanliness and enchanting atmosphere, complete with immaculate grounds and festive celebrations. The resort's luxurious amenities, including multiple pools and beach services, are popular among guests, as are the spacious and well-appointed rooms. While the service is generally lauded for its attentiveness, some guests have encountered slow response times. Opinions on value are mixed; some find the all-inclusive options a good deal, while others point out high prices. The hotel's tranquil location close to the beach is frequently praised.

Visited with the whole family! We arrived late in the evening, so they didn’t argue too much, and they happily charged us again for our son’s breakfasts, explaining that the program did not show the full payment for the family! Therefore, be sure to take with you a printed document confirming full payment for breakfast for everyone! The hotel is undergoing very active construction, so don’t expect peace here! We were accommodated in a room near a construction site, on the first floor with bushes outside the window! Since the construction site is one of the neighboring buildings, we had to get up at 7:00 in the morning, as the roar was strong! On the ground floor near the river, it’s better not to take a room, the aromas from the plants growing along the river bank are not at all pleasant. The next day we ask you to change your number. The room is now on the second floor, with a stunning view, but since construction is in full swing, the hotel is organizing additional events, weddings, concerts, so there will be no silence here! The rooms are cleaned every day plus an evening refresh, so you can ask for missing hygiene items in the evening! The room has a hairdryer, ironing board and iron, so it’s convenient to take care of your wardrobe without any extra requests! The beach was far from the house, so we either used bicycles, they are freely available for both adults and children, or buggies, but this type of transport is a little delayed here, in the evening, for example, only 2 for the entire hotel! We took some things to the dry cleaner, but our colored shorts were ruined by a stain! Later, of course, they apologized and compensated in the amount of 50, but you can’t wear the item anymore, and on vacation you take a small assortment with you, so there was a residue! There is a service on site, a boat ride on the river, you must make an appointment in advance. And so, the hotel is nice, the territory is beautiful, you can walk throughout the entire territory of Mayakoba without restrictions, even if there are other hotels there, walks are allowed, including on bicycles!

The natural beauty of Mayakoba trumps a number of a few annoying things . The luxurious jungle and beach are clearly difficult to beat, the well cared for white sand is spectacular. Hotel's advocacy for preserving nature is something to admire: water stations in public places, large reusable bottles for toiletries in the rooms etc.

However, in my fifth trip here I've noticed that service is going down a notch. Turndown service is hit or miss, as they tend to come around 6 o'clock when most people are getting ready to go out. If you run out of soap/lotion/shampoo, it requires a few calls. The sisal rug in the room looks somewhat tired. The cheese in the breakfast buffet cut in small cubes and looks unappetizing. All listed is a nuisance rather than a real issue, but the most annoying feature at Fairmont Maykoba is the system of tips on all-inclusive package in resort restaurants. Be prepared to pay extra $100-150 a day in tips added to your meals depending on your appetite and thirst level. It seems excessive in already pricey Fairmont environment with a steep $35 per person/day resort fee. Do add also the voluntary tips , i.e. you are not required but willing to pay to all the hard working folks on the beach, room service etc. Vacation becomes truly golden.

We are delighted that you continue to appreciate the natural beauty of Mayakoba and our commitment to sustainability. Your recognition of our efforts to preserve the environment through initiatives such as water stations and reusable toiletries is truly gratifying. I am not kidding you, it rained the ENTIRE duration of our June visit. Nevertheless, our visit was spectacular and I would absolutely visit again, even if I was promised the same weather. Umbrellas were plentiful and were available at every possible location. Staff was on constant squeegee duty so slips on the gorgeous tile floors were prevented.

The food on property restaurants was wonderful and incredibly creative, especially at the La Laguna dinner. The cocktails were cold and delicious. All our servers were attentive and friendly and I felt comfortable speaking English with everyone. We felt welcomed and valued and our hosts and servers remembered us even though we only stayed 5 nights! Shout out to Leo at Hix Lounge, Armando at Bassano and Enrique at La Laguna/La Cantina. Israel at Tauro's bar made the *best* Old Fashioneds!

Our Signature Casita King Room was comfortable (an excellent mattress with comfy linens) and beautifully appointed. The bathroom was exquisite. I enjoyed the fact that the rain and heat caused me to take multiple showers per day! Housekeeping was reliable and we loved the turn-down service. A slight flooding issue in our room (due to heavy storms) was dealt with immediately and completely with a quick call to the front desk, even at 5am. The manager followed up with a thoughtful thank you note.

We highly recommend the complimentary boat tour of Mayakoba (Juan Carlos was an excellent guide!). Definitely plan to visit the Cooking School in nearby El Pueblito (walking distance or grab a golf cart from the lobby).

The only aspect that was slightly uncomfortable for me concerned the gratuities for the All Inclusive plan. I wanted to make sure I was tipping well for service but I wasn't clear on what was included in our package despite asking a couple different team members. We decided to tip on top just to be certain. Thanks to all, our 20th wedding anniversary was such a special visit. Would love to bring the kids back with us next time!

Our family of ten, six adults and 4 kids (10-16), had a family vacation at the Fairmont. We all stayed in the “hotel’ part of the facility and had the all-inclusive option. We were there over Easter, so it was packed.
Check in and initial concierge visit could be a bit more friendly. We were unaware we needed restaurant reservations “prior” to our visit…., so getting into any restaurant was either not possible or very late (9p). Maybe a facility of this quality should do advance outreach to customers early on in the process. Concierge was very rude and dismissive. They can all be better.
The rooms were fine, similar to a lot of resorts we have been to in the past. Get a room above the second floor if you want any view other than jungle trees. Cleanliness and amenities were ok. Whenever I asked for a room refresh it happened quickly. Leave a note in your room on how many towels, hand clothes, wash clothes or other products you need OR you may end up with odd combinations.
Restaurant quality, beach service and wait staff were all ok. May not suit everyone’s palate, but they were adequate. My wife and I rated Tauro as the best by far. Eric was our waiter and he was simply superb. The folks at the pools and beach were also very good.
The pools and beach are typical for the area. The family liked both main pools and everyone had a great time. The beach chair availability is an issue as it is in other resorts we use.
We found the transportation carts to be fine. With a little patience and other guest politeness it can work out.
Checkout turned out ok, but figuring out your tab is interesting. I simply do not understand why they don’t include “all’ the fees up front…., particularly with “all-inclusive”!
Understand the map of the grounds before you arrive and get your restaurant plans locked up!
Overall…., I would try them again. Not the best value, but great accommodations.

It’s a beautiful property but leaves a whole lot to be desired. We tried to contact the concierge a week or so before our stay to make reservations, but repeated inquires were ignored. Once we arrived we were informed that unfortunately all of the activities and restaurants we wanted to do/visit were booked for the entirety of our stay.
The phone in our room did not work and despite bringing it up with the front desk 4 times it was never addressed, leaving me to call for room service or taxis, etc from the phone in the hallway. I heard several other guests complaining that when they brought an issue to the attention of the front desk, they said all the right things but zero follow up action was taken.
I imagine it is worse than usual because it is spring break time but if it’s busy and you want chairs by the pool, be prepared to reserve your spot by around 7:30am.
We found the restaurant food selections to be a bit limited and some just not very good, especially for the price.
On the plus side, The grounds are lovely and well kept, it is nice to have the bikes available to ride around the property, the water filling stations are convenient, they have taken great care to keep the beach area clear of the sea weed that is messing up the beaches all over the Caribbean, and kayaks and stand up paddle boards were nice to have.
The housekeeping staff were wonderful, as were the in room dining staff.
Overall, I expected more from this hotel, and feel like there are other similar resorts nearby where we have had much better experiences.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out we were treated like VIPs. As we stepped out of the car, the attentive door staff greeted us, swiftly handling our luggage and offering a refreshing cold flannel and drink—exactly what was needed in the heat and humidity. Leonardo at the Hix Bar and Lounge was exceptional, always ensuring our drinks were topped up and going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. We stayed in room 156, which was ideally located in the heart of the resort, surrounded by beautifully maintained, lush gardens and just steps away from the pristine pools and numerous bars. This place truly offers a first-class experience in a spectacular setting, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a luxurious getaway. A heartfelt thank you to the staff for making this much-needed break so special.

During our recent visit to the beautifully renovated Fairmont Mayakoba, we were thoroughly impressed by the high standard of service and facilities. The hotel staff was courteous, ensuring that our experience was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish.

Jessica, our concierge, was exceptionally helpful, assisting us with everything from booking tee times to recommending restaurants and organizing transportation. Her expertise enhanced our stay, making it stress-free and memorable.

Opting out of the all-inclusive package was the right decision for us, as it allowed us to explore and enjoy the culinary delights at the other three resorts linked by a convenient and charming boat shuttle. While the Saffron and the Tequila Bar at the Rosewood came highly recommended online and through friends, it was actually the Fairmont's own restaurants, GAIA and Tauro, that were our favorites, offering a diverse and exquisite selection of meals.

The gym facilities were impressive, equipped with Peloton bikes and maintained with utmost cleanliness. Our room was beautifully renovated with spacious closets and bathrooms. However, the lack of a fridge was a slight inconvenience, although a small coffee maker was provided.

While the resort prices for food and beverages were on the higher side, comparable to U.S. prices, the quality and service justified the cost. The main pool area seemed understaffed, which meant we had to set up our own chairs, but the beach club was well maintained and adequately staffed, providing a relaxing atmosphere.

Transportation within the resort was convenient, with plenty of golf carts and complimentary bikes available, making it easy to navigate the extensive grounds.

Summary: The Fairmont Mayakoba offers a luxurious retreat with top-notch dining options and exceptional service, though some minor improvements could enhance the experience even further. This resort is a fantastic choice for those seeking a blend of relaxation and adventure in a picturesque setting.

One of the best experiences we’ve ever had at a hotel. Their customer service on all levels from the cart driver to Concierge was impeccable. There’s a really cool cart shuttle that will take you to different locations within this large sprawling complex of three hotels. The foliage is stunningly beautiful. It seemed like every time we were taking a ride Ivan, the driver, was working. He always remembered our names… I don’t know how he did that! We ate at many of the restaurants, but our favorite was the steakhouse in the main hotel, as well as the restaurant with rooftop bar lounge at the beach by the pool. They had Mediterranean tapas food, which was just simply phenomenal. Our room had recently been remodeled and was picture perfect with view of the lagoon from our deck to the multi tiered lighting in our bedroom to set evening or morning mood. The bathroom was so well appointed… glass wall out to a private courtyard where you could go through a glass shower outside and have an outdoor shower in the outdoor atrium as well. Stunning and relaxing. I would definitely recommend this hotel. PS if you jump on the cart, ask for Ivan!

Great hotel with friendly staff and an incredible location. Beach is well maintained and the seaweed barrier set up makes the beach the only swimmable one that we visited during our stay in Mexico. Hotel is very clean and food is amazing. The food is very expensive, however, so I do recommend doing the all-inclusive if you plan to stay more than a couple of nights. The bikes they give you to ride around the property are a lot of fun and a neat amenity. Property itself is secluded and very safe. You can also eat at the Rosewood or Banyan Tree and charge to the room.

Dear E3626DVgiannip, We are delighted to hear that you had a great experience at the hotel and enjoyed the incredible location. It's fantastic to know that the beach is well maintained and the seaweed barrier contributed to making it the only swimmable beach you visited during your stay in Mexico. We understand the importance of a clean and inviting beach environment for our guests. We are pleased that you found our hotel to be clean, and we take pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property. It's wonderful to hear that you had an amazing dining experience and enjoyed the food. However, we understand that dining expenses can add up, and we appreciate your recommendation of considering the all-inclusive option for longer stays to make it more cost-effective. We're glad to hear that you had fun riding the bikes provided as an amenity for exploring the property. It's a unique and enjoyable way to get around and experience the surroundings. Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we're glad you felt secluded and secure during your stay. Additionally, we're pleased to offer the convenience of dining options at Rosewood or Banyan Tree and charging the expenses to your room, providing a seamless experience for our guests. Thank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the aspects you enjoyed. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the future.

I guess you can say the service and food is top notch and on Par with the pricing for the luxury hotel. It's more of a private secluded option more than a convenient hotel. Amenities are spread out in three main sections of the compound. The most important ones are Laguna, with pools and restaurants and where most of the casitas are located. The beach does not have that many rooms and is almost a one km walk from main area to beach area. Of course there are golf cart limos constantly moving people around from stations. We did not wait for more than 10 minutes for one but then again, patience is required.

The casitas are in sections and all around. Every Casita is basically a four plex where one house is divided into 4 hotel room units. Deluxe Casita have a jungle view where the signature Casita have a river or canal view. We were situated pretty close to Laguna which was perfect with kids as we did not have to walk much to that area and would highly recommend. There are bicycles all around in case that is your preferred method of transportation. Upgrading from a King room to double Queen came at a cost of 50usd a night, which honestly seemed like a weird upgrade cost since rooms are the same size. The in room snacks and beverages are good and everything you need is in there.

The restaurants are all very good, we did have the all inclusive which I think is almost a requirement as prices are on the higher side if we were to have paid individually. Drinks, service and goods are well managed and had hardly any criticism of any restaurant.

The beach area is nice, has plenty of places to set up on the beach but a bit limited for the beach pool. Most pool pots are filled up early at the beach. The first 4 days the beach was nice and clear, we did get rain and wind which brought a lot of seaweed "sargazo" onto the beach. There are people cleaning on an ongoing status but we got to experience both clear and dirty beaches. I guess it's a random chance all around.

This hotel is nice, secluded, private and has great amenities to enjoy. Some might not have the patience to walk, have to wait for transport etc and are used to a more hotel-like experience where you directly walk to all ammenities. I enjoy this more than the lather...

Do recommend, you do get the value you pay for which is the important matter at the end of the day. Will definitely consider for future vacations.

Hi Beth! Were you able to get answers regarding Tauro? We actually did not have the pleasure of dining there last July when we visited. I believe they are open just a few days a week, perhaps Thur-Sat. To be sure though, I would email the wonderful team at Fairmont Concierge for clarification. On our trip we dined at Gaia, which is the fine dining seafood restaurant. It was a wonderful experience. If you are traveling with young kids I wouldn't recommend this spot. We put our kids in the kid's club, which they loved, and enjoyed an early dinner at Gaia. Our favorite spot was the breakfast buffet every day at La Laguna. We also dined at Fuego, outside beach dining, but beware, dine after the sun goes down, otherwise the flies are insane!

I was there for 4 nights and heard nothing about any entertainment. It’s not like other resorts you may have been to where they have like a Michael Jackson show at night ha
