1. Our AC went out in our room. It took 24 hours and about 8 phone calls to get it sorted out. I spent 4 hours one day stuck in the room waiting for the service guy. 2. The key cards stopped working multiple times and 2 out of the 4 couples spent hours trying to get into their rooms 3. They did not offer any beverages at check in, and all of the employees at the service desk had a very hard time understanding English. 4. All 4 couples ended up with food/water poisoning.  5. Service at all the restaurants was incredibly slow. 6. The shuttles were few and far between. We spent way too much time trying to get to different places on resort. 7. When one of the couples kept running into issues with their room, the front desk offered no help and did not offer anything for their troubles. 8. The perks that we were promised in our booking, the concierge had no record of, and didn't offer them to us. 9. Covid tests cost $25 per person

We loved our stay at El Dorado Royale! My friend and I were guests of members. We had a lovely swim up suite that was our little corner of paradise. The entire resort is immaculate and stunningly beautiful. The staff was amazing, from our Butlers Melissa and Jorge, to our regular swimup bartender Miguel (the best!), all of the waitstaff at the beautiful restaurants and beachside, the shuttle drivers, housekeeping and maintenance staff. They were all so very nice and personable! We loved our stay and look forward to coming back.

My husband and I have been visiting EDR since 2013. Our friends have joined us numerous times over the years, and we always have a great time. Our recent stay did not disappoint!! Our butlers, Hugo and Alexis, went above and beyond to make sure that we were having an excellent time. They are two of the best butlers at EDR in our opinion. They always made sure we had reservations, drinks, shuttles, beach towels, and any other thing we needed during our stay. The resort is absolutely beautiful!! The ground keepers do an amazing job of keeping the resort pristine. We have even been there during a hurricane. It was amazing how quickly they were able to get everything clean. We always enjoy walking around the property - it is just so pretty! There are also lots of photo ops around the resort. During our visits, we also make sure to book a massage or two. We have never been disappointed. The therapists are simply incredible!! Our favorite therapists are Irene and Enrique, but they are really all top notch. We love all of the restaurants. This visit D' Italia Casitas was our favorite place to eat. We enjoy the restaurants in Generations, but do not like to eat late. Maybe in the future scheduling will be more flexible. We did watch more shows this year than in the past. The talent is really impressive. Our favorite show was the acrobats, but the circus was fun too. The singers and bands are all really good. It is really hard not to have a good time at EDR!!

The resort staff is very friendly and will accommodate almost all requests. They always say hi (which I personally find annoying, because I like to be left alone) Overall the restaurants were very good. The Wine Kitchen was my favorite. Tuna tostada with pickled onion, very good La Isla restaurant: beef bone marrow tacos, actually good, this is coming from someone that isn't a taco guy. I seldom order tacos because I prefer burritos. Kapai restaurant, good sushi and satay, fresh sushi, chicken was not that good. Flan good. Santa Fe restaurant, Simple but good octopus appetizer. Lobster bisque good but a bit salty Palms restaurant, There was no shrimp or squid in my Seafood Pasta. Only mussels. The fish ceviche Caribbean style was fresh and good. Breakfast Buffe (Cocotal?) I would recommend a better variety of breads by including pita bread, and floor and corn tortillas. Hummus would be great. The servers do their best to serve everyone quickly, even if that means they need to ignore you for a moment, but that's fine. I prefer the faster service. Fuentes culinary show was nice. It does take over an hour if you want a quicker dinner. Martini bar has the best drinks and service. Go to this bar to guaranteed top shelf spirits. Overall I would recommend this resort. Cons & Room for improvement: I would recommend a better variety of breads by including pita bread, and flour and corn tortillas. Hummus would be a welcome addition as well. There were instances where wifi would cut out or be very slow (under 1mbps). I recommend improving your wifi coverage/speeds. Especially in the farthest out rooms/bars. They did not restock the fridge daily. Only once during my 4 night stay. The scale in the bathroom in my room did not work.

The Casitas are the most enjoyable and classy places to stay in the Riviera Maya. You are separated from the crowds, the service is excellent, and the restaurants are many. A great location for honeymooners and anniversary guests.

El Dorado Royale was good, but not the best resort I've been to in Mexico. Overall it was pleasant, and you certainly will enjoy your time here. I just think I've experienced better resorts in Cancun/Riviera Maya. Pros: - Food was good. Again, I've had better at other places, but it was good. The wood-fired pizza place right next to the main pool was outstanding, some of the best pizza I've had anywhere. - Pool was hopping; lots of people, lots of fun activities - Resort is huge, so there's always something to do - Good gym. Was never busy when I was there in the mornings, adaquete equipment selection. Cons: - Something about the place definitely felt dated compared to other resorts I've been to. I don't know if it is legitimately older than other resorts, but it felt that way. - Beach was awful, though not entirely the resort's fault. Seaweed was THICK and those concrete barriers meant to seed a coral reef were right up on the shore, giving the beach an eerie Saving Private Ryan vibe. - Huge resort means lots of walking - Huge resort means lots of golf carts zipping around. I often felt like I was on the verge of being run over, though it never actually happened. - Fuentes dinner show was... not my cup of tea. They market it as a "show" so I was picturing a play or a Mexican culture show or sometihng performance-y like Blue Man Group, but instead it was a live cooking demonstration. I could not care less about a live cooking demonstration. If I'd known that's what the "show" was going to be, I definitely would not have gone. - No mini-beers. The bars don't carry Liqueor 43, which is my favorite shot at other resorts Overall it was good. We enjoyed ourselves, group of guys in their late 30s/early 40s. But you can probably find better.

Awesome place with fantastic staff! We went with 2 other couples from UK, travelling with TUI. Pros: beautiful resort, incredibly clean, standard of food was outstanding. Didn't have any issues with restaurant bookings. Some fantastic staff really went the extra mile..Alfredo initially in La Isla followed by Cocotel, what a wonderful caring gentleman. Luis in the small bar opposite La Isla was great fun and made the best margaritas ever!. Some great entertainment. Plenty of choice for pools, all varied with different atmosphere. Cons: seaweed season makes the sea unusable, the cost of the Tuesday night Fiesta is way too expensive compared to what you get for free, did hear quite a few wedding noise stories although we were at the back of the resort so personally cant complain. Although restaurants were awesome, often told we couldn't book til 9pm then walked into an empty restaurant, we started turning up early and often getting seated. Small pool sunbeds often taken the night before! But overall we had an amazing time, loved the resort, loved the people and the food, had fantastic weather, met some lovely people, what else do you want from a holiday?

I got so emotional leaving here as I had such a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful. The staff are exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so polite. We tipped them in American dollars. The food was outstanding. Every single restaurant had great menu’s. The rooms were clean and we had no problems with anything. We had a fabulous time here. Would definitely recommend.

Our visit to El Dorado Royale was made especially pleasant because of the outstanding service provided to us by our 2 butlers (Rene Perez and Oscar who served us in rooms 5201, 5214 and 5215. These two gentlemen are an asset to their craft. They were always punctual and very polite and very accommodating in everything we asked for. These two gentlemen deserve a 5 Star rating!!! We can't wait to get back to see them again next year. And for anybody reading this review, if you are staying at El Dorado Royale and are in suites in the 51-55 section, these guys will make your stay unforgettable!
