On 8th April 2022 myself and my partner and I returned from the above holiday which was booked with Tui online booking facility and telephone operative. The information on the hotel and resort was viewed online. During this holiday it quickly became apparent that the hotel and resort was misleadingly described on the web site. It purported to be “5 T’s”, “gourmet dining”, “offers more than a little bit of indulgence”, “one of the world’s top 100 hotels. Maybe it’s something to do with the mile long sandy beach it’s set on” “There’s plenty to keep you occupied around the resort. Highlights include…….kayaks and snorkelling” with the Junior Suites being described as “Luxury”. Having known what we truly know now, we would not have booked this hotel “complex” as it is not an “idyllic retreat” as expected on the Caribbean Coast of Mexico “strictly for adults”. Many complaints were made during the holiday to the hotel via their APP, our concierge, reception staff, Guest Services Manager (Paola) and via the TUI APP were fruitless.Four days after arriving at the hotel (on 20th March 2022) I became very ill. I had intense stomach pains and profuse diarrhoea and continuously retching. This persisted into the next day when I was compelled to visit the onsite doctor to seek some treatment. The Doctor in the onsite medical facility prescribed a course of 3 types of tablets, one of which was anti-biotics (Azitromicina) for bacteria in the colon. Rooms TUI customers are all generally located in the most dilapidated block on the complex (blocks 12, 13, 14 etc.). On arriving at the hotel, we were allocated a room in Block 12. The room was very tired and dark with paint flaking off the ceiling. The drawers had fallen off their runners and the shower head bracket was broken which prevented the water from being directed downwards onto the person using it. The whirlpool bath was grubby with ingrained dirt having built up over time, you would not go near it! We had also requested a quiet area, and the room was located close the lobby and the D’ltalia Restaurant and not mention the cleaners store cupboard opposite our bedroom door. There was constant foot traffic and activities in the corridor outside our room. A very loud argument took place in the room adjacent to ours and staff had to be called to deal with it. The argument lasted in excess of 1 hour (12.00m – 1.00am)

Gorgeous resort with staff that takes great care of you! We were in 306 and our concierge Reina was an angel. Unfortunately I was struck by montezumas revenge from something on our trip to isla mujeres and Reina went out of the way to have someone bring me what I wanted from the pharmacy in town!!! My husband loved all the activities from bike tour of the grounds to beach volleyball and daily tequila tasting… everywhere you looked was spotlessly maintained and the food is delicious! We will be back. And I will make sure Reina is my concierge!

We stayed at El Dorado Royale for our family vacation and we had so much fun! We did some activities onsite and Daniela and Javi made sure to inform us of all the activities and were very kind. They were kind when teaching us how to do the rifle shooting. They made all the water experiences such as water polo and volleyball! 5 Stars! Also, shout out to the waiters and the bartenders! Big thank you to Noe and Juan! Our family enjoyed our experience and 10/10 recommend staying here!

Recently returned from EDR after our third visit to this resort. Went in 2016 and 2018 and it was amazing. Took friends with us this time after telling them how brilliant it was and we were well and truly disappointed. The junior suite we stayed in was dark and in need of some tlc. The suites we stayed in previously are now members only. Considering we paid more this time we were given shabby rooms that were nowhere near as good as previous occasions. We asked for a room change on the first night after discovering blood splats around the toilet and on the wall next to it. We were told they were fully booked so had no rooms to swap to which was clearly a lie as they managed to find one right next to it the following morning. The main disappontment was the beach. We knew the beach was clean and sheltered from previous trips and loved the snorkelling and feeding the fish. On this occasion it was the opposite. A couple of hurricanes last year had ripped the giant sand bags that sheltered the lagoon and had also washed the large concrete wave breakers almost to the shore. The sea weed was a constant battle for the hotel staff and we didn’t get chance for a single dip as the red flags were out deeming the water unsafe for bathers. Had we known this in advance we would probably have booked elsewhere but tui failed to inform us. The hotel grounds were spotless and the staff were very friendly. The food in some of the restaurants was excellent but the beer was a bit naff. When I spoke to the rep on the final day it all made sense. The hotel group that owns the resort are trying to turn it into a members only resort. I’m guessing that’s why tui guests got the worst rooms. Such a shame that this hotel is sliding away as it was such a gem only a few years ago. Unfortunately we won’t be returning unless things change for the better.

My wife and I went to El Dorado Royale this past July for our 48th wedding anniversary. We had a great time, the staff for the most part was excellent. I'd like to that those on the staff that were very friendly and attentive. Our butlers, Ivan Padilla and Oscar. They were great. There were others that I would like to mention also. Midori, Maricio, Campacho,Teresa(our maid), Jacelyn Alverez and PHIL Woodward. Phil SIGNED US UP AS MEMBERS 15 YEARS AGO AND HE CAME OVER TO SAY HI AND GAVE US HIS CARD. All in all, everything was great, it was our seventh time at the resort, and we still needed a map to find our way around.

After visiting the el dorado seaside suites 3 years ago we decided to try the Royale which is supposed to be the next step up regarding quality. We spent a fortune flying from the uk to enjoy the “Caribbean beach” experience that we’ve had on our prior 4 visits to the riviera maya. This is an honest review and If you’re planning to spend your hard earned cash here please read! PROS: The majority of the staff are exceptionally friendly. Always got a “hola” for you when you’re walking around. Grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. Lots of wildlife around which is amazing to see. There are buggies zipping around to take you around the resort. We dined in the casitas and generations and although there was a short wait didn’t have a problem getting picked up. Martinis bar is a lovely touch. We found this to be the best place to get a coffee/decent cocktail (see cons) CONS: The beach!! OMG the beach!! We had heard that they had a problem with the sea defences being washed to shore but nothing could prepare us for the monstrosity that awaited us. As someone who loves to spend the day on the beach and dipping in the sea, my heart sunk when I saw it. The concrete pyramids are sitting all along the stretch of what must have been a beautiful beach. The red flag is up permanently because of how dangerous it is. No mention of this in any brochures. In fact it’s still flagged as a beach holiday!! The food is mediocre. Tuff as old boots meat and mediocre tasting food with hardly any fresh veg. Seriously, I would kill for a big plate of Salad right now!! Lots of upgrades to get steak and seafood. Great if you want to pay an additional 60-120 dollars after the £4000 you’ve already spent on the all inclusive holiday!! The bars: apart from the Martini bar, trying to get a decent drink is non existent! . I can honestly say I couldn’t taste any alcohol in the cocktails. The worst offender being guacamayas bar on the evening where the Drinks were inedible. Also, there is nowhere by the beach or pool where you can get a take out coffee. Not unless you want to pay for a cup of crappy Starbucks in the gift shop!! Oh, and if you’re booking via tui Jo Jo’s bar washed away 2 years ago but isn’t mentioned in any of their info!! The rooms: large rooms with fairly decent facilities but dark and tired. Large walk in shower cubicle with tiny handheld shower which came out in a trickle. Towel Rail kept failing off the wall, as did the phone in the loo!! Mini bar is topped up every couple days with water, soft drinks etc but really needs to be every day for water. We had an issue with ants in the room and the communal stairways weren’t cleaned every day which never having to dodge the poo a critter kept leaving behind. Pools: the main pool is full of whooping Americans in party mode. Couple of quiet pools but not much In the way of parosols so ended up on next looking at the concrete pyramids most of the holiday. In conclusion I would say spend your money elsewhere. We won’t be coming back.

This review is directed to Management. Over the years we have seen so many changes, some good, some bad. Anyone who has been visiting Royal and Casitas for more than 5 years knows what I am talking about. Things like taking away beach areas to lounge for Royal customers to create The Oasis area where you have to pay to use the beach beds. Many brands of top shelf liquors have disappeared, such as Crown Royal, Liqueur 43, Grey goose vodka, and way back tequila cream (1941) used to be included. Food quality has declined, Beef fillet removed from menus at Italian villas and Sante Fe. No more catch of the day unless you pay extra at fish market. So many up charges added. I see the Coconut drinks are 10$ now. Used to be 5$. That is double the charge for alcohol already paid for in all inclusive. Now they are not going to replace Jojo’s beach bar and grill. Instead they are building more 2 bedroom diamond villas. Yes they over sold that membership level so need more rooms. But they are taking away a huge portion of usable area from Royal customers. I know I’m sounding like a moaner but now the new management has decided to control all music played at all pools in casitas and royal. It is the most horrible elevator music you could imagine. Not pleasant to listen to for even an hour never mind every day on vacation. This isn’t the first time they have done this and it didn’t work out last time either. It’s like your worst nightmare, being stuck with repetitive chime and drone sounds. Please please turn it off silence would be better. If your trying to make us crazy it’s a good start. Lol. Management please take this concern seriously, we are pleading with your common sense. Turn it off!
