It's a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms, welcoming staff and amazing garden/restaurant area. We arrived super late in the evening but were still checked-in and were given a bottle of wine on arrival. The garden area is stunning and the food in the mornings is incredible (fruit and granola followed by freshly cooked Mexican dishes and your choice of smoothie. The staff were lovely and helped us with booking tours and taxis. There are also bikes you can take out if you don't want to walk or use public transport. My personal favourite thing was eating breakfast an seeing the wildlife just beyond the seating area: Coatis, large birds and capybara-like animals. I would definitely come back it felt like a hidden gem in Playa del Carmen.

Hidden gem in Playa with beautiful gardens, rooftop area, great location to beach and restaurants. Brito made our stay so pleasant by being so welcoming and handling busy breakfast time with a smile. He was great to talk to and you could tell he really cared and enjoyed his job. Highly recommend this cozy place of 9 rooms with lush gardens!

This is just the BEST hotel. To sum it up: It is better for travelers rather than vacationers. The garden is lush, quiet and perfect to have the included breakfast. Almost everything is open-air, so it just really lends itself to blend with the trees, gardens and perfect location on Calle 38, Paya Del Carmen. It is a quaint, boutique hotel that has such a great, helpful staff. Brito was fantastic, as was Alexandro and Juan. Checked in with Juan, who was very nice, and mostly dealt with Alexandro (Alex) who was perfect for recommendations and always took care of us. The neighborhood is perfect as well for travelers with the beach at the end of the street. Trees line the lighted street and the best restaurants in Playa Del Carmen are either on that street or very close. Great rooms, staff, location, breakfast, gardens...what more do you want? …

We just spent 3 nights at La Semiila and it was absolutely magical! The location perfect! The service was above and beyond! Brito, Alex and Juan were hands down the best! The breakfast was amazing!

What a magical place. A beautiful change of pace from the large and loud resorts. Staff, rooms, service, and food were all amazing. Location is perfect, within walking distance of all the shops and food and only minutes from the beach. Can’t recommend Hotel La Semilla enough.

I could not speak more highly of this hotel. We were only here one night before going to Riviera Maya, but I would love to go back! Great hospitality, family run business. Good, walkable location. Lovely outdoor patio area and breakfast.

Had the most beautiful stay at Hotel La Semilla. The location is perfect, right off 5th Ave with very stylish boutiques and restaurants nearby. The beach is less than a 5 min walk away. The staff at the hotel was amazing, Juan and Brito at the front desk were so friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast was incredible, Gabriel is a wonderful chef. The hotel is so charming with a stunning garden and cozy places to sit and relax. Highly recommend and would stay here again!

Amazing place, amazing staff! Brito and Ale were fantastic and extremely nice. The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious. We especially loved the snack availability throughout the day and the lounge area.

A genuine gem of a boutique hotel. It's an oasis in the heart of Playa, just off 5th Avenue on cute 38th street. Beautiful jungle garden, where complimentary breakfast is served in the morning. Also enjoy a complementary beer and olives in the evening - is a really nice and appreciated touch. Mayan style, the rooms are stylish, cute and clean. The beds are on the very firm side (as seems to be the case generally in Mexico). Suggest if you are a light sleeper you bring ear plugs, as Playa is bustling at night and their is noise until after midnight. The team at the hotel are so friendly and thoughtful - as a solo, female traveller I really valued my stay here. There is a gorgeous shop right next door that offers a discount to hotel guests and sells lovely Mexican home wares and furnishings. The ethos of this hotel is spot on - complimentary distilled water in the rooms. The only things that would be helpful would be an iron in the room and a mini fridge... (and for longer stays a top up on the complimentary shower products). Thank you - I would definitely recommend to friends and stay again next time I'm in Playa. 1st class stay and really excellent value for money.…

La Semilla is a beautiful oasis in the centre of Playa del Carmen. The hotel has an amazing garden and excellent breakfasts, while the folks in reception had excellent recommendations for off the beaten track places. While the hotel is very central, it's on a quieter street so we had no problems sleeping. We loved our stay and would definitely stay here again!
