Amazing resort, was sooo looking forward to an adult only pool party with the jams and the hits, boy was i wrong. Was there for 3 days and each day the DJ was wack no one was vibing, everyone had their own Bluetooth speakers. I literally went around asking people were they feeling the music and it was a hard no. I voiced my concerns to the DJ and she pretty much told me it was nothing she could do, they play to the crowd. I’m like what crowd is that no one out there is dancing to this or even popping their heads. No one wants to sit there and listen to techno house music all day like ur at a rave. I spent money on a Cabana two days and rather just chilled at my swim up pool by my room and jam my speakers. Riviera our waiter was amazing he tried to make light out of a pretty sour situation.…
Hilton Playa del Carmen was a perfect destination for a stressed out couple who just wanted a little time for themselves. While there are some small improvements I would suggest, I'm rating the resort five stars, primarily because of the service which was impeccable in every way. The staff was incredibly friendly, and we felt very welcome at the hotel, along with its restaurants and cafes. I've never received such great service at any other hotel. The restaurants were similarly great, and breakfast had plenty of fresh fruit and berries, which was excellent for me as someone who doesn't enjoy a heavy breakfast - but it also offered scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, and all the traditional goods for my partner who has a bigger appetite for breakfast. We especially enjoyed a restaurant called Chef's Plate, which offered delicious haute cuisine. The pool area was wonderful, and not too crowded (perhaps because we traveled during the Covid-19 pandemic). In retrospect, we should've chosen a room with a pool, opposed to a balcony, but we also enjoyed the bath tub in the room, as well as the hammock on the balcony. The room was impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated. It had all the necessary amenities, and a luxurious King sized bed. Extra points for the sitting area in the shower, and a little clothesline for swimwear. While I no longer have photos easily accessible to me, the photos provided on the hotel website do great honor to the place, and aren't misleading in any way. The whole resort area was wonderful, very well decorated and just simply beautiful. Since we traveled during Covid, we were slightly concerned about safety, but that turned out to be a relatively pointless worry. The whole resort area was very clean, and we saw staff cleaning and disinfecting areas where people generally moved a lot, constantly. This included door handles, tabletops and so on. It was also quite empty at the resort, so we didn't end up bumping into a lot of other people, which also made us feel safer. The small improvements I mentioned in the beginning of my review include a bit more varied selection of snacks in the minibar (with fruit and something sweet, and juice, for example), robes and slippers available in the room, and generally a bit more closet space. The drawers in the dresser were difficult to open, and the information on the tablet wasn't up-to-date. I also wished there would've been plain yogurt available at breakfast. All in all, however, these are very minor details, and the stay was very successful despite them. As one might imagine, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hilton Playa del Carmen, which for us was a wonderful experience. The immaculate resort area, as well as the superior staff made the stay excellent.…
We spent a week at the Hilton Playa Del Carmen and weren’t disappointed. Amazing location, food, staff and accommodations. My daughter is vegan and the resort had wonderful vegan choices for her at every restaurant. The Kalamata restaurant made a special 3 course meal just for her, the staff was just wonderful. When going into each restaurant they asked about any food allergies or dietary concerns. We felt safe walking into to 5 th Ave and around the town. Overall an amazing week away at and will definitely be back.
This place did not disappoint whatsoever Rooms- 10/10- clean, comfortable bedding, mini bar fully stocked at all times, hammock to lounge on the balcony, hot tub inside the room Restaurants- 10/10- 8 on the property of all types of cuisines, my gf stayed for 5 nights and did a different restaurant each night, every single meal we had was fantastic Staff- 10/10- Rigoberto, Manuel, Lucas & David from los pelicanos restaurant were amazing. They made our breakfasts in the morning the most pleasant experience possible Hands down worth the all inclusive route, the property was clean, food and drink incredible and the amazing friendly staff makes me and my GF to want to visit again!! Do not pass on this property!!
Yes, we have stayed here 3 times already. The service is incredible. I want to mention Rodrigo out by the pool, and Louisa, because they were super friendly and made our stay even better. We love the entertainment and fun atmosphere. The food is excellent, and there are lots of options. Never had a bad experience at this resort.
First and foremost, I would like to say that the service was great. And there is no issues there. However… The first room we checked in too, was smelling like mold. I owned a mold restoration company, I can tell if there is mold. You couldn’t even breathe inside. So they changed the room for us. But unfortunately no hot water in the new room. We decided to stay because we ware very tired already. I would like to start with the food. This is not what to expect from a 5 star hotel. The food level is a mediocre unfortunately. Asiana restaurant was a complete joke. Not fresh, fish was defrosted and definitely not fresh. We were four people there who had a bad experience. Nothing was tasty. And felt like someone who never cooked food was behind it. Kalamata restaurant: Again a complete joke! This time we end up getting up and leaving the restaurant. Fish was not fresh, again it was told to us that it was the catch of the day. Unfortunately we don’t know what day was that catch. But definitely not same day. It tasted horrendous! For all of us. The pasta we ordered had 0 taste. Nothing. The chef did came to talk to us. But unfortunately we couldn’t take the chance and ordered something different. We end up going to the Mexican restaurant witch was ok. We really wanted to eat there the 2nd night but it was closed. The Third night we went outside of the hotel to eat. We could not taste the food at the hotel anymore. We rented a cabana at the pool but the menu was horrible. Only lobster to eat as a main course. We are allergic to shell fish. So you can imagine, we had to go bring food from somewhere else. We paid over $100 for the cabana and was hoping to enjoy it with food. The music at the pool. OMG really?? This is an adult only resort. Where is the quiet? Seating down enjoy the sun! Without screaming, super laud terrible music. The people who help making activities: We specifically told the guy, we are looking to do only ATV. Only! We are interested in a few hours activity with only ATV. We did this before in Playa. He asked us if we want to do zip line. We said no! We got to the place and guess what? Zip line and ATV. The ATV was only 20 minutes. Only 20!!! We end up ordering an Uber back to the hotel. We asked them to help us with a Taxi they wanted to charge us $120. We ordered an Uber for $25.00. The massage package: The massage itself was one of the best! But the experience before, not so much. The lady inside the massage room, for half an hour pushing us to buy more and more stuff and more service. The package itself was $350 not cheap. Even when we said no few times, she did not stop! We felt very uncomfortable. In the end we bought a $30 package for additional service. Crazy. Really. She kept pushing and pushing making us feel very very uncomfortable. Really really bad experience. It’s our 3rd time in playa. This was the worst experience ever. First time we want on vacation with no kids. We spent so much money and preparation for this vacation just to make it happen. And it was completely ruined. I am definitely not recommending. We spent over $3500 on this trip.…
Pros: Appears new, modern decor Very pleasant rooms, nice bathroom I was in king room, which felt spacious Exceptionally clean, outstanding housekeeping staff Quick room service, fast response to all needs Bed was very comfortable Many dining and snacking options Staff was all a delight to deal with - special shout out to Mario, one of the managers who fulfilled a special work-related request I had. Cons: Food was decidedly mediocre, except for breakfast, which was great Drinks were watery and most weren't good Giant whirlpool in the middle of the rooms was a poor use of space, annoying to look at and bad feng shui Beach was terrible but this area of Mexico has been having a lot of troubles with that Summary: This is not a "luxury"resort but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the property, although the main lobby area is fairly bland, the rooms were nice. If your goal by staying here revolves around eating, you'll be disappointed. Food off property is world's above. This is a very couples-oriented resort (the whirlpool in the room is a tip off) but there were many groups of women, like ours on vacation there as well. I would recommend this hotel - the staff was amazing, rooms seemed very new and as I mentioned, the beds are excellent. Tips: Request a robe and slippers. Get the "green juice" every morning. Upgrade to a garden view if possible so you face the interior of the hotel and can see what's going on. Be sure to have dollars to tip as needed, although it's not required anywhere.…
We had read about the seaweed problems before we left home and debated on canceling our vacation. But after calling the hotel 2 days before, she told us that Hilton and the government were doing everything they could to clean the beaches. This was not true! The seaweed at the property was piled high, smelled terrible and was infested with flies. It was apparent that nothing had been for several days or weeks to clear the sand. We had to walk down the beach to an adjacent hotel to enter the water. There was absolutely no one using the Hilton’s beach. It was hysterical when we checked in and the receptionist told us that since we were Honors members, there was a special area on the beach for us! Finally on day 3 there were a few men trying to shovel the seaweed into wheelbarrows; a futile effort! A tractor would have been a better option to be used daily. We ultimately took ferry to Cozumel for clean beach at Paradise beach club; an additional fee we had not planned on. Hilton was Not really all-inclusive; Pool service was slow and food service did not exist unless you rented a cabana for $75/day! No water activities included. No beach volleyball. No pool volleyball. Swim up bar could not be accessed from main pool without getting out and walking across the deck. The positive is that all the employees were friendly and professional! The food was good too.…
We were staying here for our wedding anniversary, one of our first big trips in years because of the pandemic. The staff was excellent! Maybe some issues with some people because of the language barrier at times, but it was nothing major and the point was always able to get across. The man who checked us in really went above and beyond to help us when our reservation had gotten messed up due to a computer error. Food is very good at all of the restaurants on property, particularly the seafood. If you have the choice between any steak that isn’t an upcharge vs some sea bass or octopus then go with the seafood and you won’t be disappointed. It is a little strange that all wine is not included in the “all inclusive” and is sold by the bottle (and is quite pricy). I was hoping there would be a house red and house white that would be included but alas, not luck. Most restaurants for dinner do have a sommelier if you decide you do want a bottle, and they were very helpful while not just pointing out the most expensive bottles on the wine list. If you are a Hilton Honors member there is a private beachside bar that you can go to that has at least the same bottles that every other bar on property has if not slightly nicer. This area does also have some cabanas that are first come first serve with some waiters that come around every so often for food and drink orders. The beach in general is a public beach and the hotel is right next to the public access area and where the ferry to/from Cozumel comes in. Generally wasn’t an issue while we were there but there are some people asking for money or trying to sell you things on the beach in the afternoons. The beach itself has nice sand but gets very rocky in the shallow water. Makes it hard to actually get into the water at the hotel, but a 5min walk down the beach and it’s much less rocky. The pool is definitely where the party is, from about 11am or noon onward until close to 5 there is something going on at the main pool. DJs, performers, musicians, etc. if you are looking for a nice relaxing day by the pool, it will not happen. The mornings are quieter there as are the evenings. Bars at the pool and beach open at 10am and close around 5, so the crowd starts to show up around that time in the morning. If we were coming to Playa Del Carmen with friends or even more lively family members, we would definitely consider coming back again. This place would be great for a girls trip, bachelor/bachelorette party, or even a destination wedding if you know your wedding party and guests will want to party it up a bit. We were looking for something a little more quiet and relaxing but still had a great time, but would probably not come back here if we were traveling for that reason again. But overall we were happy with our stay. Great food and drinks, excellent staff, great for a party, just good as a couples getaway.…
False advertising. All inclusive means ALL inclusive. When this place was the Royal.... the sauna was open for guests to enjoy the hot tub, sauna, wet sauna and the cold dip. Now at this ALL INCLUSIVE they upcharge you 25$ per person/ per day. Now lets say you want a massage which usually is an upcharge at most places.... they off that for $300 per person. TIP*** Go one block to 5th Avenue and walk to the left.... there's a place that gives massages 2 for $50 and its the same girls that work at the spa. OK let's forget the spa..... you usually come to a resort to enjoy the pool. And they will let you sit by the pool........FOR $75 PER DAY. You read that right....to get pool side they charge $75 per day. They're big on pressure selling you time shares also. The room smelled like mildew and the room refrigerator was stocked with ONE beer and three waters. The food is good but be careful..... if you order a glass of wine....It's an extra charge. Premium liquor is also an upcharge so say bye to Patron at their tequila bar and hello to only Cuervo Gold. This was my 7th time there...only the first AND LAST as the Hilton. I don't think ALL INCLUSIVE means what they think it means.…
