First the rooms are too small even for one person. The website shows beds in the rooftop pool area! Not! All broken old and roped off! The safe in my room was robbed for $400 USD! Don’t stay here! Pick another hotel if you want to be happy.
Decided to visit this hotel due to the great reviews. Well I am here now and I am honestly disappointed. We checked in yesterday 07/22 around 7:00 pm, and the male staff member who checked us in was extremely rude. He seemed annoyed and bored. A lot of people mentioned that there were drinks being served by the pool and THERE ARE NO DRINKS being served at all. There is no food or snacks available in the hotel, only the restaurant next door AND they stop serving at 8:30 PM. I really hoped I would have encountered all those nice things that others are talking about (Friendly employees, drinks, a bottle of wine), but there is none of that here. It’s just an average hotel :(
absolutely fantastic experience thanks to truly amazing staff and a great location in Playa del Carmen The room was absolutely fine and "spacious" enough but indeed at times a small desk would help. As a remote "office" it would not work though there is space and good wifi on the roof of the main building. The air conditioning system in the room was efficient and silent. The WiFi worked well during my 2 weeks stay with 6 to 10 Mb up and download values and there is a small fridge in the room that was very practical. The noise insulation could be better but that is only true when very loud people book some time at he hotel. Breakfast was very good and the team was simply amazing so that ensured a great start in the day. The guys at the reception were so helpful and so friendly. I cannot say enough good about them all. The area is quiet, especially if you get rooms facing the 2 small swimming pools on the inside. I spent time in the morning and late evening on the roof to relax and enjoy. The few lounge chairs were great and I did "swim" in the pool to complete the experience. The hotel is a 5 minutes walk to the sea/beach and a 2 minutes walk to Walmart (very convenient ;-) ... and there are plenty of great restaurants around. I guess I will return asap :D Now Playa was not very busy due to COVID which helped to get a better experience (late March/early April). I found the best beaches to be a 20 to 30 minutes walk to the south. Worth the walk ;-) ... it is also where the resorts (all inclusive) are located... but again it was very quiet due to the pandemic and there was no issue for social distancing even on the beach…
First of all Not bad, location is very good only few minutes to the 5 avenue and 1 minute more to the beach, theres also a Oxxo minimart round the corner, there are 3 pools but i only used the rooftop pool and it was great, outside its a square there will be some nightmarkets sometimes with little bit noicy, but no big problem, theres also a nice venezuelan restaurant beside the hotel, try that its good with a nice owner, the rooms are small, maybe to small for 2 people i had 2 queensize beds in my room and there was no more plaze , a king siza had been better, and theres no table for laptop, and the wifi didnt worked at all for 5 days in the room, value is very good hard to beat, if you dont mind NO WIFI and no table for work with laptop this is really good if you want to save some money No sign "Make up room"/"Dont disturb" Kind and helpful staff, fix this small issues and it will be great…
This is a small and intimate hotel. Rooms are tight if you are traveling with much luggage. (We were planning to stay up to 6 weeks and originally booked for 2 weeks.) There’s one armoire with some drawer space (think lingerie chest dimensions) and some hanging space but otherwise you’ll need to keep your things in your cases and slide them in and out from under the bed as there’s no room for the luggage rack to accommodate a 24” case and walk around the room. Bathroom is tiny as well with very little counter space. I solved that by visiting Walmart (2 block walk - very convenient!) and buying a cheap plastic roller cart to slide under the sink. I also bought a washcloth because those were provided day 1 only. I loved our balcony which was a garden view room of the above ground pool. It was very relaxing to sit on and I spent quite a lot of time there because I ended up needing to work remotely several times. I especially liked that the chairs were comfy and had wide arms and a footrest. It was super convenient and made working more enjoyable than a desk inside. Our room was always cleaned if we wanted it and the housekeeping staff was sensitive to Ned to sometimes skip a day due to the need to stay near the room to work. And I liked the “heart over the door” method of letting them know when you wanted your room cleaned. Towels and linens were clean and of quality consistent with 4* hotels in Mexico. I never had breakfast at the hotel so I can’t comment on that. But the restaurant next door serves delicious and innovative vegetarian fare. I ate there 3 times and was pleased with every dish I tried. WiFi was strong and generally reliable by US, not México standards. Downsides for us were that there were no phones in the room so no way to call the front desk, no message system (which is needed, see last paragraph), and no mattress toppers for very firm beds. It should be noted, however that the downsides would not deter me from returning (with less luggage). The casual and elegant traditional Mexico decor is a huge plus. The lovely grounds and well-kept public areas help rectify the lack of personal relaxation room in the bedrooms. And the price is accommodation a wide variety of travelers which leads, under normal circumstances, to increased communication and opportunities for greater interaction and understanding between guests. I would book here again without hesitating! I stayed here March 17-27. Then, due to mandated hotel closures by the Mexican government, we were told the hotel would be closed at noon on the 27th. La Passion secured rooms for all guests that wanted to stay at a new hotel, in a better(by some standard)location, in a more upscale room, for no extra charge. We were allowed, as arranged by front desk staff at our request, to go view the substitute hotel before deciding. You can read that review separately. For now, I will only say that, despite being closer to the beach and having double the space in our substituted room, I will choose to return to La Passion over the other hotel. …
