I went on my first solo trip to The Reef at the beginning of August. The Reef was amazing. I enjoyed massages, the shows, daily activities, the staff and amazing people I met there. The rooms were great! The staff was spectacular!!! I made reservations at the Mexican restaurant and had Alan as my server. He was absolutely outstanding!!! He was extremely attentive, kind, friendly and knowledgeable! He doesn't just go above and beyond one time, he provides a high level of service every time and to every guest! I ate there several times and was equally impressed each time. It is obvious that he loves what he does!!! Thanks for making my 1st solo trip so enjoyable and easy!!!
We are currently staying at this hotel and I feel I have to write a review! We have a 7 & 5 year old and have been blown away by how good this place is. We are staying one week all inclusive. As a small resort, and knowing resorts in Mexico can be ‘hit or Miss’ , we were nervous about our stay. However, every single member of staff has been wonderful and they can’t do enough for you. The kids club activities are so fun - the kids made chefs hats and cookies one day and the next made craft piñatas before having a piñata party after. They seek out families to make sure all children are invited to attend these fun activities and the staff are so happy and energetic. Adrianna and Maria have been AMAZING with our kids - the kids don’t want to leave! Honestly, they are very special people. Poolside, there are plenty of beds available and the place is so clean. They have mini golf, table tennis, pool and other activities for you to enjoy and throughout the day there is a lot to get involved in - again, the staff make a huge effort here. There was even a singer and saxophone player poolside to entertain people! The food is great - big selection (and a kids area with the standard chips, plain pasta, fish fingers, pizza and veggies etc). The drinks also are great. There is a poolside snack bar which is such a bonus if you don’t fancy the buffet or restaurants. There is a kids pool, jacuzzi and big main pool with easy steps access and steps on the side and places for loungers in the pool. Covid measures are great. Everyone wears a mask, they take your temperature on entry and spray the rooms and public areas daily. The buffet is served to you by chefs and everyone is very respectful. The buffet overlooks the sea and is gorgeous. The hotel is a 1 minute walk from a pharmacy and 7-11 convenience store. 5/10 minutes away there are lots of restaurants and stores / markets which are lovely to explore. The hotel arranged a hire car for us (MUCH cheaper than the airport - I think we pay $65 a day ALL IN) and it’s a lovely car. We have traveled to local cenotes and lagoons for snorkelling which is well worth doing. There are no hard sells at this hotel like others we have been too.. they are all genuinely really friendly people. They also all speak amazing English! Nobody expects a tip (although they work so hard, they deserve it!). Ive also booked an 80 minute spa treatment on Sunday (massage, facial and scrub) for only $95 - this is great value. Beds are comfy, showers hot and a mini fridge is stocked with lots of drinks. TV shows Spanish and English channels (probably more but we’ve stuck to cartoons!) WiFi is great. We were expecting a standard hotel that we could crash in as we explored playa del Carmen and tulum but this place has been such a find, we haven’t wanted to leave much!! The ONLY downside is the beach and sea is full of seaweed (not the hotels fault, they have workers out at 6am clearing it), so it can be a little smelly when the wind and sun are strong.. I mean that’s all I can think of of any sort of negative. The sea is strong and it’s not really swimable at the moment- however it’s next to a public beach and it makes for a really nice walk. Finally, I highly recommend you book this place. You won’t be disappointed!…
Myself and my two daughters visited this resort this past April! Loved everything about it! We had the time of our lives! Without Boris the activities director our experience would not have been the same!! Boris brings so much joy, love, creativity, excitement, joy to all guests! So many activities to choose from- you will never be bored. If you want to just rest and be still that option is there also! Best of both worlds at this resort! If you go please look for the one that makes this resort what it is!! Boris!! Thank You Boris for your amazing hospitality and bringing life into our world!! Until we meet again!!
Boris and the rest of the staff were amazing, came on this trip alone and made new friends! Everyone staying there is so nice and staff is very accommodating. They also have covid testing on site and also have a snack bar open until 2am for those that want to enjoy a night out at 5th Avenue which is about a 5 Minute walk from the resort. Definitely coming back again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our last visit to The Reef Coco Beach. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are daily activities like yoga, water aerobics and water volleyball. The buffet has a wide variety of food and the Japanese restaurant is amazing!
