We had an amazing holiday at the occidental, the grounds are lovely and the wildlife is amazing! The beach inlet is beautiful with clear water, you can see the fish. The buffet food is OK, lots of choice, the oriental restaurant is fantastic and the Italian is good along with packs tacos and the pizzeria. What really makes this place is the amazing staff especially Efrain Baland, Alberto Cajun, Jessica Gartias, Attito De La O and Rayor, everyone is so friendly and attentive it really made it for us, we can't wait for next time, thank you occidental!

Food and drinks where mediocre. We have stayed at other places where the food is a lot better! although the staff is very friendly and makes a world of difference the food was not good and the drinks where flat and watered down.

Firstly, I wanted to start by saying how other reviews are so false and make this stunning hotel look so poor and criticize everything possible, when in reality this hotel deserves a lot more praise. We weren't staying in the royal area which made us concerned that we wouldn't have access to everything around the hotel, but we were happily surprised, we had an amazing room in building 19, which was very spacious and well-located especially as one of our party has difficulty walking long distances. Housekeeping was extremely friendly and if there was anything that you needed 5 minutes later it was always there without fail, with an apology for not having items such as towels earlier, so much credit to the housekeeping team for their hard work and dedication The food on offer…

We arrived earlier than expected, but the hotel did not make any efforts to check us in earlier, we were even willing to pay for it. Be aware that you have to pay some type of tax, plus an early fee for access to the restaurants and facilities when you arrive early. Also, be prepared to be harassed by hotel personnel in order to get you to attend one of their presentations to become a club member, sort of time share. Most staff are very professional and courteous, except for Marely Tiburcious, we were trying to make reservation for one of our dinners and she had just finished assisting a guest, she did acknowledge or let us know that her or someone else would be with us soon. My husband and I found this little gem for our honeymoon in 2020. We were skeptical of the hotel and and its amenities but when we arrived we fell in love instantly. This resort is very spaced out so it doesn't feel crowded. I had read through many reviews online and learned to upgrade to the royal club for the private restaurant, which we did, before arriving. It felt like a decent resort with great service, that didnt break the bank. We loved it so much we another trip in 2021 and brought our sister and brother-in-law. They then fell in love with the resort and we invited the whole family August 2023 for my father-in-laws 60th birthday to they royal club. We were celebrating our 27th anniversary and had a very relaxed week at the Occidental. We bought tickets for the Xcaret Mexico park which was awesome. This park connects to the Occidental which was very convenient.

We knew it was going to be good but this hotel exceeded all expectations! The staff, the food, the wildlife! We had an amazing holiday. Very aware of food allergens (gluten free) always had plenty to eat.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Occidental Hotel. The room was always fresh, we love seeing all the animals that are around the hotel. Our favorite part was the natural pool very relaxing. The food was ok and the hotel stuff was very nice and friendly.

Check in takes 30 to 45 minutes. Front desk was not helpful and gave me inaccurate information. Our AC broke and couldn’t sleep. Hotel never provided with an additional bed for my child. Took a day to finally get additional towels.
