Travelers' Choice
For a boutique hotel in central Playa del Carmen, The Palm at Playa goes beyond the typical hospitality by offering the true lifestyle-beach character. With an accurate service, contemporary-beach design and a superb location by the "5ta Avenida", the town's most vibrant area, The Palm at Playa puts the best in town to handy distance. There are 69 resort-style accommodations which include lofts and apartment-like suites, very chic, generous in space and details. Our Sabor a Mar offers Mexican contemporary cuisine at local prices. But our star is the rooftop with the Bar and swimming pool. It's a perfect spot for celebrating the occasion in a stylish atmosphere, a place where dramatic ocean views and rounds of mojitos and margaritas flow constantly. The swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and snack bar are the perfect setting to relax under the warm and balmy Caribbean sun. But at night the whole terrace transforms itself into a jazzy-vibrant stage. A chic and trendy place meaning the perfect setting for young souls seeking the groove, while gazing at the horizon and the sizzling lights of Cozumel Island. Adult Only. Children +14 are allowed.

I booked this hotel last minute and was not disappointed. It is one block from the major restaurants and bars and 3 blocks from the beach. It’s way more then I expected. Sandra the concierge was amazing and wrote us the sweetest notes. Thank you The Palm!

On a positive note, Sandra, Mario and the rest of the palm staff really are the epitome of excellent customer service. Helpful, proactive and so personable. They made staying at the palm an enjoyable experience. The establishment itself however needs a lot of work. Definitely wouldn’t classify this hotel as luxury or four star by any means. We came to the palm when they first opened ( 5 years ago) so we were shocked to see how the hotel had changed. The rooms weren’t that clean, stains on the furniture, AC broke on one of the nights so we had to move rooms, fridge didn’t get cold, TV/cable wasn’t working for the majority of our stay (we stayed for 5 days). The rooftop pool is gorgeous and has a great view. However the pool is really small and gets filled up quickly. There’s no cushions on the loungers so it’s straight metal recliner and a towel for your sunbathing needs. If you’re looking for a cheap/mid-tier at best hotel to stay in Playa this could work. If you’re looking for luxury and an upscale vibe, this is not it. I’d recommend the Thompson hotel at playa. We had dinner at the catch and went to the day club, it was a whole vibe.

Could not have enjoyed our stay anymore at The Palm at Playa, location was perfect whether you want to drink/eat on the cheap, spend some time in the touristy areas or walk to the beach. The included breakfast was incredible and tasty; roof top pool hot tub area was perfect to wind down at each day, and always had great, attentive service. Amazing double shower was highlight of great rooms!

We live in Germany and due to Covid we couldn’t travel to Mexico in March 2020. We are still waiting for our refund, almost a year now! The Palm at Playa hotel just ignores our e-mails and Whatapps. They told us the refund was in process, but obviously not true.
