Lovelt condo, enjoyed every minute of this pool heaven place. Quiet and peaceful right on the beach, some 2.5 km from Playa del Carmen. Some rooms with swim-up option. Most have sea-view. All pretty positive. Just had a few hopefully helpful pointers... more signs from the top north side needed to places such as shop and reception areas. Disabled ramps to foyer of condo building needed... fine from roadside but a step up to the entrance of building, not good for wheelchairs! Food in restaurant was very good and not too expensive, but pool bar is way too pricey!

We booked a condo at Mareazul very last minute and were pleased with our experience. The resort itself is about 10 minutes from the heart of Playa del Carmen. We did not have a car and took a taxi (300 pesos) into town twice. All of our taxi drivers were familiar with the resort. There are two layers of security to get into the resort, which made us feel safe, given we had a first floor unit (701S) near the entrance. The condo itself was spacious, with a lot windows and natural light. The decor and furniture were modern. We arrived about 4:15 pm (check in was after 4:00) and there was still someone finishing the cleaning in our unit. The cleanliness was pretty good, but a few little things like old dish cloth with stains, moldy dish drying rack, some hair in the bathroom and streakiness on the refrigerator. Some of the bathroom fixtures were a little moldy, damaged. We had a few issues - like being locked out of our condo once, not having ice trays or a pump for the filtered water, but all issues were resolved quickly when we texted the administers. The resort complex is very large and we were at the way back, so getting to the pool, beach and restaurants was a bit of walk. We ate at both restaurants a few times. The one by the beach had the best service we had during our trip in Mexico. We liked the breakfast food more than the lunch options. As mentioned in the reviews, the pool is extensive, filled with bridges, Lilly pads, levels and all sorts of fun platforms for the kids. The chairs at the beach get taken up pretty early, but the beach itself is quite private and has nice fluffy white sand. One day the beach was a little wavy and the other it was nice and calm. The resort had two tennis courts and 1 paddel court to use, free of charge, including the equipment. We did not use the fitness center, which required a "reservation" and that you bring your own towel. There are paths outside of the resort gates that are great for walking or running. We were a family with two teenagers and enjoyed our stay. I think this condo complex would be great for families with even younger kids or for multi families vacationing together.

I was hesitant to go on our family's trip to Mareazul as it was my sister-in-laws 40th birthday party. However, once we were there all anxieties faded away and we had a wonderful 5 days. Some additional context that may help. We had 3 apartments/suites split between 8 adults and 6 kids. One penthouse, one firstfloor with a pool, and one other. Our kids ranged from 3 months to 14 years old and most were 8 or under. We spent 80% of our time at the pool and 20% at the beach. The pool is one of the largest I've seen that wasn't at a water park, and even compared to a waterpark it was big. All the apartments were in great condition. We ate almost exclusively at the on-site restaurant and bar by the ocean. Was it more expensive than I wanted to pay, yes. Was Wal-Mart out in town also more expensive than I thought it should be, yes. I mentioned Wal-mart being expensive because I don't think Mareazul was out of the ordinary. I'm just tired of paying $15 for a sandwich at home in Boston and thought vacation would be cheaper, it wasn't. The front desk staff ranged in helpfulness. If you're going to rely on them for everything then you'll probably be disappointed. We used them in addition to directly calling places and the concierge. Yasmine was ours and a rockstar. She even arranged to have a cake delivered for the 40th birthday.

This place used to be good… not anymore. Looking back at our latest experience of Mareazul, what we enjoyed most of this most recent stay was… LEAVING! We booked 9 nights, which turned out to be 9 miserable nights. The condition of the unit you get is pretty much like rolling a dice. We’ve stayed here prior, therefore can speak from experience. We booked a two bedroom swim out, which is actually a more expensive unit, your own pool and all, right there on your private patio!! Expect the lights didn’t work, they one small table with four old chairs and a tiny table with no lounge chairs or really anything nice about this swim out. The unit next door was getting remodeled. The unit above was for sale. And the one next to it looked empty as well. The unit was so poorly equipped and down right disgusting from the blood on my pillow which took getting to a manager after communication with the rudest staff via what’s app, and 3 days to get it replaced. The kitchen utensils were down right disgusting. The TV’s were tiny. There was mold growing in the bathrooms. Honestly. I wish I had my nine nights back!!!!! The manager sent replacement pillows. And some lounge chairs for our private pool since there were none. The onsite restaurants have gone downhill, the food isn’t as good as it used to be. The wait staff is so slow now, honestly you can cab or drive elsewhere and eat and drink properly and be back prior to finishing up at either of their restaurants. Their food used to be a good value and really good. Now its plain, and more money, inflation and all. Their drinks, are priced like all other drinks I the area, but are subpar We have so many better places that we could have booked!! My advice, book elsewhere. Mareazul, you’ve gone downhill majorily, there are so many options in this area, where honestly, we didn’t just feel ripped off, but violated of our time, we hated walking into this unit each and every day. If your owner doesn’t want to invest into his condo, you will get bad reviews. You have control over this. You did the bare minimum. I hope that others find better! Cheers.

Arrived late at night 03/25 so we were tired and unfamiliar with the code machine but managed to figure it out after a few attempts. Once inside, the unit was exactly as described and as shown in listing photos. The unit was immaculate and the entire property itself is amazing! A couple of drawbacks, though, are that the water pressure is almost non-existant in the master shower as we found out our first night there. Our family of four ended up using the guest shower the rest of our 6 night stay. Also, there is no dishwasher. The property grounds are beautiful. There was never many people at the pool, which is gigantic, and often it felt as if we had it all to ourselves. The private beach was also gorgeous, though, did not use it much, but thankfully when we did, there was not much sargassum. Sadly, there was much more on a second occasion we attempted to use it. Will definitely stay again and in fact are hoping to return next year with many more friends and family.

We stayed in a 4 bedroom/4 1/2 bath condo at this property. We did book through Airbnb, but I still wanted to give a review about the entire resort as well as the staff and grounds. Our condo was absolutely gorgeous with beautiful furniture, comfy beds, huge closets, an enormous and comfortable patio that had plenty of seating, a hammock and a tub. We had plenty of room for our family of 10. We had a great kitchen and washer/dryer which helped with all our laundry. There are two restaurants on site. One is a pool restaurant/bar and the other is more of a restaurant but both are located around the huge pool. Food is really good, drinks are tasty but prepare to spend some money. It's not cheap. Rudy was our bartender and he was fantastic the entire week we were there. In fact everyone we came across who works at Mareazul was very friendly and worked hard. The pool is magnificent. It's HUGE and close to the size of two football fields. The water is a nice temperature and they keep the pool water so clean. There aren't a lot of lounge chairs around which I found interesting so you do need to get to the pool relatively early to get a spot. The beach was beautiful and spacious. During this time of year, there isn't a seaweed problem so the water was crystal clear and the beach didn't have any seaweed to deal with. I've heard at other times of the year, it can be really bad and actually have a terrible odor. By the lobby, there is a small mini mart type of store where you can buy snacks, drinks and even necessities for your condo. We found this store very handy when we didn't want to go to the big store just to pick up a few items. This resort is more of a residential resort and many condos are occupied by the owners. It's definitely a quieter resort as they have a noise ordinance of 10 pm. And even loud music in your condo will disrupt any neighbors close by. Also we were told that we all had to be in our condo by 10 pm and not out wandering around. We did have teenagers with us so that could have been a rule just for us because we had 16 year olds with us. There is a ton of security guards walking the property at night with flashlights and you can't go on the beach past a certain time. So keep that in mind when visiting because complaints do come in and they will talk to you about it. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would absolutely recommend this to family and friends.

In March I visited the place and a reception man named Mauricio, he was disgusting, he looked at our breasts, I told him I would report it and he just laughed 😡 Come back, to celebrate my friend's birthday and the man is still there, we arrived on the 2 of June. We wanted to go to the gym, but we were very disgusted to see his face. We will not return to that place, I thought someone had taken my previous comment seriously.

We stayed at this property for a week recently. We booked through the property. We saw previous reviews and experienced many of the same issues. On the positive side the property is well kept and has one of the biggest pools I have seen at a resort. The staff was also pleasant and helpful. And the food at the two restaurants on site was always good. The property has potential but needs some TLC. It was probably a really nice property when first built but could use some updating. Our unit was on the beach which was mostly unusable due to the seaweed. The unit was not well cleaned and had some small issues like a leaky toilet and very wobbly ceiling fan. We were locked out of building after returning one night and needed security to fix the lock. The unit next door was being renovated which was kind of loud during the day. The location is about about 15 from downtown Playa Del Carmen by car. There is nothing around the property itself to walk to. One of the biggest issues was communication with the property management leading up to the trip. Emails weren’t always clear about instructions. They have a portal but it really doesn’t accomplish anything by having it. They mostly communicate by using the WhatsApp which I did not have. Overall it is not a bad property. I think with some improvements and attention to detail I could see it being a really good place to stay.

Place is beautiful, but if anyone is renting above you, or there is construction anywhere in a building, be ready to stay up all night, because of your neighbors and listen to banging Because of construction. The banging is insane. Any sane person would loose their mind. So much construction going on that you don’t even know. Then if your neighbors that are here on vacation as most units rented for Airbnb’s, you won’t even get a brake during the night. The stomping, the furniture moving it’s absolutely insane. Go stay somewhere else if you truly want a peaceful vacation. Unless you get super lucky.

Pros: Apartment was very spacious, quiet, clean, the views were beautiful, the pool was huge (but was undergoing some maintenance), the beach was very nice, loved that we had laundry facilities in our apartment. When the air conditioning broke someone came promptly to fix it. Patio was nicely furnished to have breakfast out there or to just sit in the sun. There weren’t the usual competitions for chairs on the beach or by the pool – very easy to get them. No extra cost for chairs on the beach. Drawbacks: We booked this resort through Expedia. It is advertised as a hotel condo resort. There were towels in the condo, but no other supplies. Since this booking was billed as a hotel, when we ran out of tp, we asked the front desk for more. They looked it up in a book and told us the contract they have with the booking entity doesn’t cover tp. So, we had to go to the store and buy tp. Many things you would expect (washcloths, dishcloths) were not in the condo. I checked both the hotel’s website and Expedia’s listing before we went to see what was provided but did not find any info. The check-in process was not smooth. The address and phone that Expedia provides is incorrect. I contacted the resort 3 days ahead for the entrance codes as directed by Expedia and was told by the hotel that they would send them one day before. We did not receive them a day before and were trying very hard to contact someone before our flight left to get the codes. They finally emailed them while we were on our flight there but would have been much less stressful to have them in hand before we left. We booked an oceanfront condo with the swim out pool. The one pane of glass (the stationary part, not the door part), was not attached all the way to the wall – there was about a ½ inch gap and this caused a very loud and constant howling noise unless we left the patio door cracked open. Overall, I think they have the potential to be a really great place to stay but there needs to be clearer information about what is/is not provided, provide more supplies in the condo, and better communication about check-in. Didn’t really feel like we got great value for the money we spent. When I was originally looking, there were some options at the same place available through Airbnb. I would recommend booking through Airbnb because they would be better set up for guests and offer better and more attentive service to assist with needs while you are there.
