This was our 6th time to this property. We were blown away yet again. They are doing an excellent job with covid going on. They grounds are spotless, the staff is extremely friendly. The food was abundant and always available. The Steakhouse is our favorite. The lobster is amazing. All the restaurants are good, you can't make a bad choice. One thing we really did miss is the alcohol dispensers in the room. Hoping that returns after covid. We would like to commend the following staff. Pablo was pure joy to he around. He is very engaging and up beat. He truly added so much to our vacation. He has very good rapport with the guests. We also want to commend Gigi, Ariel, Anna and the pregnant lady at breakfast and lunch, sorry forgot her name. All the lobby bar staff were amazing as well. We did not have a SINGLE complaint with any staff at this resort, which is incredible. We have recommended this to many people and look forward to our next visit!

We have been visiting the RIU Palace Mexico for many years. There are many places to travel in Mexico but we always return to the RIU as the staff is extremely accommodating, the facilities are great and the food is exceptional. We have visited many places around the world and this RIU is undoubtedly one of the greatest places to sit back, relax and fully enjoy yourself.

I’ve been to Mexico seven times, always staying at an all inclusive resort. After an extremely rough and stressful April, I decided to book a solo trip and chose this resort for some R&R based on the reviews. I was looking forward to 24 hour room service and breakfast in bed, however there is NO ROOM SERVICE due to Covid? Is it not safer to eat alone? room service was one of the major deciding factors in choosing a hotel, so I was disappointed to say the least. Hotel is practically empty. Several restaurants and bars are closed on different days. The food and drinks were not enjoyable. The drinks were made with sugary, fake mixes. The food selection was limited if you don’t eat seafood or pork. Under items were often empty and not re-filled quickly enough. Wait staff is friendly, but front desk staff was not able to assist me with most of my requests. I arrived early and was able to check into my room early, which was great. My room was outdated. My TV is very fuzzy and has lines through it. The safe battery was dead. My refrigerator was warm, but it got cold as the day progressed so they must’ve just turned it on. My charger kept falling out of every single outlet in the room. I guess they are old and loose. There’s no blanket or covering on the bed. The room was on the ground floor and smelled like mold, as was a complaint I read about in other reviews. You would think with so much vacancy they would put me in a better room. I booked a energy healing massage. What I received was a hard, rough and fast rub for $160. I specifically told the woman not to touch my head, as I did not want oil in my hair that I just had styled. She proceeded to oil my entire face and head. I have stayed next-door at the Wyndham Viva Maya, which is less expensive, but has better rooms, amenities, better food by far and better entertainment. I decided to try this place based on better reviews. I’m definitely disappointed and would never stay here again. So much for R&R!

The hotel is hit and miss. Especially when it came to the food. Breakfast and lunch buffets were very mediocre. No other choices. Wish there was more options. The dinner in the alacart restaurants were better. Entertainment was fine. The beach was very nice and the pools were nice and warm. The employees did a nice job and the grounds were kept up. The rooms were nice but you can hear all the noise.

I have been traveling to this resort since 2012. It has been more than beautiful every time with amazing employees. As a travel agency owner, I have done weddings and group travel to this resort. I came with a client to present the resort to them. Imaging checking in and asking to upgrade your room to be told nothing was available. After asking again for the best upgrade available, I was told a price and told the room was not ready. Fine , no problem since I had time to walk client around property. Front desk staff was non Chalant and came to find out room was already ready. Next, room was very dingy. Grout was terrible. Shower water backed up constantly and room was only serviced once for a three night trip. Woke up to two huge cockroaches in room. Unacceptable. Restaurants were open from 630 to 9 pm for dinner. Are you serious? 2 1/2 hours to eat dinner. Breakfast and lunch were buffet and outdoors. Birds flying and landing everywhere . Walking around food and picking up food that’s not covered. Cold food was not properly placed. Covid testing: Requested reservation when arrived. Never heard back until I had to follow up twice. Appt given the day before return travel. As a travel agency owner who has visited thousand of properties, I cannot recommend RIU resort. When you make a complaint, you receive a generic response.
