Outstanding employees very friendly and hard workers throughout the whole resort ! Great food did also visited the other resort riu palace the food there was also excellent ! The only thing I dislike was the beach water was dirt ! But it not the resort problem.. would recommend going there again
OK first of all we’re going to start out with the travel part of Trip.Booked the trip through Apple vacations Which chartered airfare with Frontier Airlines. Traveling through O’Hare international Airport was the norm, had a temperature check before boarding on Frontier and during the flight there is no in-flight beverage or food due to Covid and contactless service.Cancun international Airport steps it up a little bit,They have a thermal imaging camera to check temperatures a little bit more high-tech definitely also seems very clean . Transportation through Amstar - wow ! Once I was given a driver he sanitized my luggage and my backpack and I had to use hand sanitizer to get into the car he did this to the other couple that shared the ride. OK let’s talk about Riu - I have stayed at many in the Caribbean and Mexico. That’s why I am club member. Once at the hotel The front door Man had me step on a sanitizing pad for my shoes use hand sanitizer on my hands stepped through the door and stand in front of another thermal imaging camera once I did those things I was cleared to go and do the check in. At checkin and I was offered hand sanitizer again, presented my club card -at this point she gave me a upgrade to a Suite . The Riu palace México is sooo clean , Now my room had a great view of the pool and very Spacious, it had the wear of many of the Caribbean hotels I’ve stayed at - how can they not ,just think of how Many drunks people who think they’re entitled come through. Food Food Food wow ! Hand sanitizer and temperature checks again before entry for food,My lunch and dinners were some of the best I had at a Riu - breakfast hmm I was up and out at 7 am for diving so maybe if came later it would have been better- just seems if they would have not have it all cooked at 7 might of been better - but dinners omg yum ! Entertainment staff went out the way to try to make it as good as possible. They got me to play bingo I’ve never played bingo in my life and I won ! Now this place is got to be losing money I think maybe 150 to 200 guests? When I was there . Beach was amazing. And they were giving beach service I was surprised by that No barstools at the bars to help with social distancing tables were spread apart there was not one employee in the 4 days that I was there that never did not have a mask on. It can’t be Said for the guests, some went out of their way to cause trouble about the mask . I would stay here again . I had room 2045 - keeping in mind a room in Chicago is like 259 a night for a bed- the Riu is a deal - the Staff were amazing and I thought the grounds were very nice, i used Dressel divers They’re one resort over technically two if you want to count the other riu next door just had to get in my two cents for them great crew Do you have any particular questions feel free to reach out . Well that my 2 cents …
We took 9 family members in 4 rooms and had a wonderful time. We thoroughly enjoyed the week and would go back in an instant. There were a few negatives, and although they were relatively minor, I’ll still mention them for reference, so keep reading for all the great things about this property: Downsides: -For us, check-in was a long, inefficient process - Due to Covid, there is no liquor in the in-room dispensers (yet there is the same exact dispenser in the 24-hour lounge for anyone to touch and use - kind of strange and seems to be more of a cost-saving action than a health concern.) -Due to Covid, there is no room service. The big problem here is that no food can be taken out of any of the restaurants either. -For the few issues we had, most everything is blamed on the “boss”, and staff members seem to have very little empowerment to make decisions for the guests. -Please hotels: STOP letting guests use their portable speakers (especially at the pool): it’s annoying and often offensive. -The “in-room” shower could be an issue for non-couples, so have a plan there if needed. Upsides: -Transportation at the airport provided by the hotel was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. -Room was nice (get the courtyard view if possible) and extremely clean and well-kept. -The property is beautiful and well-cared for. -The food was surprisingly good (we normally cruise and we thought the food was on-par with standard cruise cuisine.) We were especially impressed with the breakfast buffet. -We tried all the “specialty” restaurants (which are closed on a rolling basis, so check your app!) and enjoyed the open-air steakhouse the best..so nice on a refreshing January evening. -Fabiola was our favorite breakfast server - wonderful. -The bar staff, especially in the pool area, is amazing. They work hard and seem to have fun. Tip them! -The coffee shop and it’s staff is a really nice feature and the views from up there are beautiful. -The activities during the day were there, and the activities staff came by to ask if you wanted to participate, but they were always friendly and not pushy. -The evening shows were fun in the indoor/outdoor setting , but the entertainment wasn’t that great (effort appreciated) -The beach was very nice...plenty of chairs, palm trees, sand, and very few rocks. -Pablo from the activities staff is over-the-top excellent at what he does. He is interactive with guests, fun, a little crazy, and seems to genuinely enjoy his job and life. He made our week better. Find him if you go here. -The Riu app worked well for looking at activities schedule, dining availability, and for making requests for the room (more water, extra blanket, etc.) We can't wait to return !!…
Riu Palace Mexico is smaller, quieter and more personal than other Riu's in the area. Great for ambiance and rest; but can get boring for kids and teenagers. Unlike its neighbouring resorts, it is not set in jungle - it has more a Cancun or Miami feel. Gorgeous Grand Hotel lobby has awesome coffee shop serving excellent expresso or capuccino and fantastic deserts in grand atmosphere. Honestly, hotel has some of the friendliest and helpful reception staff in the area. An alley with gorgeous European-style fountains leads from lobby to pools and beach - no more than 7 minutes walk. Room was adequate, with jacuzzi bathtub in the middle. Not huge, but immaculate and modern. Mini fridge has standard selection of beer, pop and water. Motel-like simple corridors seem to hamper Palace feel, but it's not a big deal. No room service at the time we spent there - they say due to covid, but most resorts do have it. Food is very good! Buffet is incredible for breakfast, ok for lunch and mostly great for dinner: some nights were better than others in selection. Ususlly lots of seafood. For lunch, we liked restaurant by the pool more. Steakhouse is the best a-la-carte at the resort - lobster tails and excellent cuts of meat. Others - Italian, Mexican and Japanese - are gorgeous inside but food was not better than at the buffet. Fantastic ribs and arrachera at beach shack. Premium alcohol drinks served quickly everywhere at the resort, but beach service can be slow. Beach is good, cleaned regularly, no seaweed issues at all. Soft sand, pleasant water, not much waves (most of the time, except when windy). Nice long walk in both directions. Some beach vendors are agressive, but that's normal in Playacar. After few days, we relocated to pool (and we are 100% beach people) because it was hard to relax when someone approaches you every few minutes. Pools are small and ambiant, close to beach area: nice place to relax. Not much to do in the evenings except shows, that are mostly good but typical for resorts. We loved our stay at Riu Palace Mexico and will return!…
We had a wonderful time at the RPM, December 26-31, 2020. Our great experience was mostly due to the hotel staff. So many wonderful people, who seem to truly love their jobs. Shout out to Maria in the coffee bar. She went above and beyond every morning. Kind-hearted woman who is charming and a joy to be around. My husband said he would hire her in a second if she lived anywhere close to us. Food was really good at most restaurants. The steakhouse was exceptional! The resort grounds are stunning! Little bit of a walk to the beach if you have older people who do not get around as well. It wasn't a problem for me in the least. Beaches are beautiful and I didn't see any seaweed while I was there. Rooms could use a bit of updating. Very clean and nice, just a little dated. Nothing that bothered me after my first day there. Completely different vibe from Riu Palace Cancun Las Americas, which is my favorite all inclusive. You can use all the other Riu's in the area, which are walking distance. This is a nice bonus.…
