I have returned time and time again over the last several years as the hotel, staff etc have been outstanding - I just have concerns that the new refurb will eliminate a lot of the Mexican charm which the previous hotel had... There was a...More

Stayed here in Sept 2017 and as the title says it was hands down the best food I've had at an all-inclusive hotel. The drinks were great too which is a nice change - some premium spirits and they made great mojitos! The rooms and...More

Hi there! Well, as you may know by now your fears have been realised as regards the renovations of of the Riu Tequila. If you look at the recent photos you will see that , yes indeed, the new style is mostly chrome, and glass with absolutely NONE of the beautiful Mexican/Spanish influence that was there before. Very sad and I can't think why they have done this as SO many people had previously remarked that, like yourselves, this was one aspect of the resort that they really appreciated. Oh well, I had already made my bookings for August so can't change things now. I'm sure it will be very nice but if I'd wanted a modern hotel I could have found that anywhere; I go to Mexico to to find a Mexican atmosphere!! I'm sure we'll have a great time but really disappointed in what they've done. Do you have any recommendations for trips or excursions? Cheers from a Belfast ex-pat now in Vancouver.
