Not a 5 star hotel. Even 3 stars would be too much. Low quality food, had stomach pain after eating almost every day. Found green flies in food twice. 90% of food not fresh. Dirty plates and cups as if they were wipped and not actually washed with detergent. Staff not friendly nor efficient. Room service extremly slow. Had to call 4 times to ask for water. Room had small ants on the walls. You must put your ids in the safe locker otherwise it can be stolen… you must lock the balcony too for same reason. They charge 120 US dollars to get a food poison pill from doctor..!!! People smoking weed at the pool and staff didn’t do anything about it. Pool water very dirty, especially the bar pool. Very low quality of alcoholic drinks at bar. Non alcoholic drinks extremly sugary and artificial. Would never return there……
The Riu Tequila was an amazing experience. We had never been to Mexico, and wow! From the moment we arrived at Riu Tequila we were blown away! The staff is super helpful and friendly and got us checked in right away. The welcome cocktail and seamless check in was great! Our room was lovely! The beds were comfortable. The shower pressure was great! The fridge was stocked with alcohol pop and water. Loved it! The all inclusive aspect was great! There was always a place to get food. Because of sone medical issues I had done dietary restrictions. I had no issues AT ALL!!! The other thing that I was super impressed with was coffee! There are no in room coffee makers (due to covid restrictions) so I was worried about being an early riser. My new best friend … the early morning bar tender at the 24 hour sports bar!!! Forget in room coffee, his espresso beverages are AMAZING!!!! Everything was great. The pools were warm and rejecting! The raccoons adorable. Loved it. The property is across the road from the ocean. It’s a really short walk but the shuttle is really constant! Oh and the beach restaurant is a hidden gem! The other thing is add is if you feel there is something you need - just ask! Whether it was a help fixing a suitcase (seriously!!!) extra blankets or help with tipping, the staff always answered our questions. Also the evening entertainment … loved it!!! We’re already planning to go back!…
Wonderful place, exceptional service with such great people, the rooms are spotless. You won’t want for anything 24 hours a day. Glad to see the Neon and White parties are back they are very professionally organised and great fun.
My partner and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Riu Tequila but we were desperate to stay! We had the most amazing time and loved everything about our stay. Room: The room was great, the bed was comfortable and consisted of 2 double beds pushed together. Good sized en-suite with two sinks and mirrors, separate toilet and nice big shower. The room was cleaned to a high standard each day, with a different, very well created towel animal each day which was a nice touch, they are very clever with what they can make. Our only slight criticism is that the communal corridors are very echoey and the sound travels to the room quite easily, the doors slam quite loudly which can be a bit irritating. Hotel: The hotel was immaculate - staff were constantly cleaning and maintaining the grounds. The pools were always tidy and plenty of sun beds to choose from. The sports bar was good, showing all kinds of sports which was great for my partner to watch the F1. The Friday parties were amazing - alternating between Neon and White parties each week, guests from the surrounding Riu hotels are invited for a huge party. Face paint, dancers, acrobats and DJ - great fun. You can also make use of the Playacar and Yucatan hotels, which includes lunch. Both hotels are really nice and right on the beach front, which we preferred with the sea breeze (brits aren’t used to the heat!). The Yucatan/beach is a 5/10 minute walk under a shaded canopy, or a buggy comes round every 5 minutes or so. I also particularly loved the hotels four-legged residents - the coatis, agoutis and two cats were very cute and lovely to see! Food and drink: The food was excellent for an all-inclusive resort. The buffet breakfast was good (churros were INSANE), dinner each night was a different theme so lots of variety, no getting bored of the same food each night. There are 4 speciality restaurants - Steakhouse, Italian, Asian and Mexican. They were all great other than the Mexican surprisingly, very disorganised and food was bland. We loved the beef fillet steak in the Italian. Big shout out to Luis P and Jeremiah in the buffet who gave us outstanding service at breakfast and dinner, Luis even sorted us a table with rose petals one evening. They are an absolute credit to the hotel and deserve all the tips they can get. The drinks were good, in particular the frozen cocktails - the pina colada and mango daiquiri were amazing! Also the iced coffees were also really good. Excursions: There is so much to see and do in Mexico, two weeks just isn’t long enough! We visited Chichen Itza, Xel-Ha, Sian Ka’an, Holbox Island and Coco Bongo. Sian Ka’an and Coco Bongo were our favourites, absolute must-do’s if you’re in Mexico. Seeing dolphins and turtles in their natural habitat at Sian Ka’an was incredible. The only one we were disappointed with was Holbox - our Tui rep said this was one of his must do tours and that they only sent 6 people per day so it was a very private tour, however there ended up being around 50 people from Tui as there were three large mini busses. The tour was sold to us as starting with a 2-hour speed boat tour around the island with a local expert to give us insight into the wildlife etc (we were driven direct to the island with a silent driver), followed by lunch at a 5-star resort (standard buffet, nothing great, 4-star resort not 5), followed by a golf buggy tour of the island (we drove the buggy direct to and from lunch on back roads, no tour whatsoever). Overall very disappointing and would not recommend. One of these tours was also sold to us by our Tui rep as including local tequila tasting and being given fresh coconuts, we can’t remember which tour this was exactly but did not happen on any of them. Overall: We had the most amazing holiday here and would not hesitate recommending to anyone. We are already planning our next trip to Mexico! A huge thank you to all the staff, you are an absolute asset to the hotel and we are hugely grateful for you making our holiday so special.…
Lovely place in general. Food good. Our waiter was just outstanding, Jeremias was attentive, professional and just seemed to enjoy making our dining a very comfortable happy experience. A huge thank you to him. Everything was lovely with the exception of the swim up pool bar......overall, disgraceful behaviour. It was closed more than open at our stay with over drinking and being sick in it!! Other disgusting things went on too. As predicted also a fight took place. Hotel needs to control this so everyone can enjoy their holiday!!!!! Staff were so lovely and kept the hotel and grounds very clean and tidy. Not sure if we'd visit again due to the pool bar experience which is such a shame.
Good Hotel, foods good, can’t complain lots of variety but a bit same same after a while. One recommendation though. Stop serving people at the pool bar when they are clearly Drunk ! Will stop you having to close the pool when they are sick every day !!!
Great place 5 time and not the last lovely food room spotless cleaned every day left balloons and tequila for wife's birthday waiters great Rangel remembered us from before top service sports bar lady got us our tequila sunrises x4 as soon as I got to the bar no need to ask cant fault the place loved the beach apart from the sea weed
This was for my 60th still very young at heart. Pools amazing, entertainers and entertainment was brilliant. The staff more than helpful. The beaches to die for. And the food was absolutely delicious.
Great holiday, would recommend this hotel. Staff are hard working and are always happy to help you. Special thanks to Laura and Julio in the buffet dining room. Great entertainment staff especially Stefanie and Ciprian. The rooms and communal areas and grounds are all kept very clean and tidy. Overall a great time.
What an amazing 2 week holiday spent at Rui tequila. From the moment that the 11 of us arrived the check in was quick and the staff were helpful showing you to your room and bringing you your cases. The rooms were great clean with lovey towel art and a stocked up mini bar. The staff are a great credit to the hotel from the waiters in the restaurant to the bar staff. The pools were great all 7 of the teenagers loved it and so did the adults especially the pool party.Staff round the pool are always keeping it clean and tidy. Where do the entertainment team get there energy from? They were running round from 10 in the morning to 11 at night making sure you're entertained and enjoying yourselves. We loved the white party and neon party the hotel go to so much effect. We would definitely recommend this hotel and all go back.…
