Beautiful scenery at the resort with jungle in the middle of it, waterfalls in different places, exotic animals around the hotel, hotel lacks clean beach with clear water, there was seaweed everywhere made you not want to go in. Hotel requires masks for restaurants and buffets but does not supply guests if they don’t have one, tells guests to go purchase one at the store in hotel for $5 each mask. You can’t be eating at the lobby where the bar is at the tables but you can drink as much as you want which made no sense. Not a huge selection when it comes to drinks and alcohol, mix drink selection is not big at all.

Hotel's Favorite
I didn't expect to like the Tucan as much as I did - big, all inclusives aren't my typical choice - but i LOVED IT!! In fact, I could barely have loved it more. There is wildlife absolutely everywhere. We had howler monkeys on our balcony every day, and were treated to marauding posses of coatis, including the cutest babies you've ever seem. And the agoutis....well, don't mention the agoutis; they're EVERYWHERE! Iguanas, frigate birds, pelicans, mot mots, woodpeckers, raccoons, where do I stop? The only sad sight were the Toucans in cages. The food's great, the beach is better (yes, there's some sargasso, but don't let that get you down - i worried too much about it before arrival, but it's almost a non-event once you're there). The cocktails are potent and the grounds are to die for. Our teenagers rated this as the best hotel they've ever been to, and that's a compliment indeed as they're well travelled spoiled little b***ers :) The entertainment is definitely aimed more at our American friends (in fact, ours were the only English accents I heard the whole time), but it's quite a laugh in short bursts. I really can't recommended this place highly enough. I guess you might get more service at some of the flashier nearby offerings (this place has the audacity to make you get out of your sunlounger to go fetch yet another margarita) but i bet they can't compete with the drama, setting and downright beauty of the Tucan! My only regret is that Grant bloomin' Shapps turned the country red half way through our trip and we had to abandon ship :( :( :(

The iberostar TUCAN done a great disservice to our previous 9 stays. We have previously booked ocean front at both the Tucan and her Sister hotel I've never been displeased. However the TUCAN has replaced its ocean front view with cabans and chairs with their private club "starprestige". Thus the entire beach in front of the only ocean front building at the TUCAN is private and not accessible the unless you are a private club member. And children are not allowed to belong. Our biggest complaint is that the 700 person resort is at capacity and there are only 2 club members using up 1/3 at the beach front. We believe that iberostar Company has Has done a great se disservice to their resorts by trying to add this private club especially at a family friendly resort. We will say that the staff has been very it's been very open about having no control about allowing us to at least use the club level. It is not something they're allowed to give us access to without a $40 A-day payment payment for nothing but a chair since we have children The rules say they're not allowed to sit with us. After waiting 2 and a 1/2 hours I'm going through 3 levels of managers they may be able to move us to move us to the quetzel side Which still has only one ocean front building but it is in front of the The beautiful beachThat we are used to seeing for the last 20 years that we've been coming here. THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE OCEANFRONT AT THE TUCAN BOOK AT THE SISTER HOTEL "QUETZAL" PS the resort is running well after covid with less staff but food service and office staff are all very polite and try to do their best to make you happy... I believe the big company in Spain has tied their hands about this club idea....bad idea and hopefully lack of use will prove us wrong but I saw it the Dominican Republic but there were no oceanfront rooms to ruin the view

Please stop accepting new guests till you get your air-condition fixed... The managers know about this issue but cannot do anything. How can you sleep without an A/C and the temperature is over 40. On top of that there were a water outage twice during our stay. In general staff were nice, food was great the night show was amazing but the pool was packed cause there were plenty of seaweeds. I'm not going back again to this place..

Dear guest, Thank you for choosing our Resort and for taking the time to share your observations with us. We regret that we did not completely fulfill your expectations. Concerning our air conditioning system, i we work with an intelligent, eco-friendly, energy saving system, with a motion sensor, however, whilst the guest is in the room it does not turn off as it is activated by the electronic lock, nonetheless, we offer you a sincere apology for the discomfort that you experience. Once again, thank you for your feedback, we hope that you had a safe trip back home. Best regards, Qualoty Manager Iberostar Tucan & Quetzal

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this hotel and had the best time . It was a bit of a culture shock to stay in the jungle but was amazing . The food was great for an all inclusive , lots of choice, healthy and good quality . Good quality brands of drinks and all the staff were friendly . The day time entertainment team made the holiday for us , try really hard to make sure everyone has a good time . Things we loved Location , easy to get into town , on the beach Service Food Clean Entertainment Pool Beach Jungle location Gym Things that could be improved Room was small for a family of 4 and needed more electrical plugs and storage Aircon in the room and gym wasn’t great Beauty and message is too expensive , 150$ is too much Need to get a bed by the pool early as they all go Room tv had little English channels Things to be aware of We we eaten alive ( nature and not the hotels fault ) Sea weed on the beach, it has its good and bad days (nature not the hotels fault ) We had such a great time and we’re gutted to come home

Staff was wonderful, food was excellent. We did the archery and shooting activities. Beach had seaweed but can't do anything about that, OK once you wade through it. Pool was good and not crowded. We didn't do any specialty restaurants. They do need to turn down the sound and not show so much butt cheeks during the shows. We enjoyed being in a setting that had so many wild animals. My daughter had a peacock pecking on her third floor sliding door at 6 am and a monkey on her balcony one night.

We had a really fantastic holiday at Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal. The staff are all really friendly and so helpful. Any issues we had were resolved straight away. The resort is absolutely beautiful and has a really tropical feel. We loved the rainforest area and the huge amount of wildlife there. I could spend hours watching the howler monkeys in the trees, it was really incredible to see. The sound they make is unlike anything I’ve ever heard too!! The food was great too, with a vast (& different) selection every day. There was something to cater for all tastes but we loved all the Mexican food. The drinks were great too - great cocktails!! The pools were lovely and the beach is really beautiful too. We went snorkelling most days and saw loads of fish. Don’t be put off by the seaweed, once you’ve got through it the water is clear. The hotel does a good job clearing it too. There’s also loads to do on the surrounding area. A visit to Akumal to snorkel with the turtles and then swim in a cenote is a must! The only reason I’ve not given this hotel 5 stars is the rooms. Although they’re spotlessly clean and nice and cool, they are very dated. They just look like they need updating. Thanks Iberostar!
