I was really looking forward to my stay at Be Playa but I am happy I was only there for 2 nights. The noise at night is unbearable and it goes on to the early hours. Ear plugs did not help and the front desk is not honest about how long it will last (after the first sleepless night, I asked about it and they said the music would stop at 10pm that night since it was a Sunday... it did not). Also, my sheets were stained, and in general the room did not look like it was in good condition. I needed to work one morning but the wifi is super spotty and I spent over an hour just trying to connect on and off. I was looking forward to an included breakfast that was more than just a continental one, but it definitely was extremely basic and both days they did not have the "bread basket" which was supposed to include some pastries like some other guests previously posted. Instead I received 4 pieces of plain white wonder bread like toast. The only thing good about this place is the rooftop which has a pool and bar serving decent drinks, but it is also the worst thing about the place due to the noise ! ;) It's also located in a very convenient and safe area so for those reasons I am giving the place at least 2 stars.

I don’t think I have ever left a 1 star review before but wow, this place earned it. I want to preface this review with the fact that I have stayed in PDC at least 8 times in the last 6 years and have never had to move hotels before. The initial greeting and check in process was good, no issues there, but after that it went downhill. I booked a junior suite room because the pictures online looked great, and definitely gave a couples vibe with a double shower and large jacuzzi tub. Once we got into our room, we noticed it was not as nice as the pictures which wasn’t a big deal honestly. But, the tub was pretty stained with hard water build up, and the stopper didn’t really work very well. It either leaked or wouldn’t come undone once you got it to stop leaking. Then when we went to use the double shower, the drain didn’t work properly and caused water to go everywhere outside of the shower. They did not provide a towel to go on the floor outside of the shower either, and instead had a rug near the bathtub that looked worn/dirty. They had not refilled the shampoo/conditioner/body wash before we got there, there was not a soap tray for the hand soap bar, there is no mini fridge, we noticed ants and other bugs crawling on the ground, etc, lots of little things that continued to add up. We had rented bikes which is super common for the area, and they at first seemed like they didn’t have parking for them which I found odd. Someone finally said we could park them downstairs in the garage and they made us carry them down the stairs instead of using the elevator?? It was so weird and honestly super difficult to navigate the bikes down a narrow 180 degree style staircase. I actually ended up cutting my leg on the bike as I brought it down. After we got back to our room for the night, we were shocked at how LOUD it was! I had read reviews about noise so I had brought ear plugs but wow. It was still so noisy! Between the rooftop and the bar next door, it was practically unbearable. We ended up checking out early and having to pay for another hotel which was another unexpected expense, since we couldn’t get a refund. We weren’t even asked why we were checking out early/if there was a problem. I’m not sure who would be a good candidate for this hotel, maybe some really young adults that plan on partying all night and sleeping all day and don’t care much about cleanliness/functionality?

Be Playa has a nice rooftop bar and pool. The rooms are spacious. The reception staff are friendly. The breakfast is nice at the sushi restaurant. You order from the menu which has good choices. For some reason though they don't always have yoghurt even though it is on the menu. The location is good it has nice restaurants and bars nearby. The bed sheet was very rough so that could have been improved. Also the housekeeper kept forgetting to replace things in the room. We'd be short of soap, face towel and shampoo and kept having to ask at the reception.

We stayed here a few years ago and loved it and were eager to return. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend the hotel. Every night there was music blaring from the rooftop bar and club next door until 3am. Ridiculously loud and impossible to sleep. It’s a shame because the rooftop bar serves excellent drinks, the sushi club and breakfast are great, and the hotel is a great location. But, none of that negates the fact that we were exhausted from our vacation, which is the opposite of what you want.

Don’t stay here! Our friends stayed there. They had to switch hotels because it was too noisy and they couldn’t sleep. Obnoxiously loud blasting music until very late and the front desk didn’t seem to care. Sad because they liked the hotel and visit Playa often.

This rooftop bar was recommended to me from a list of nice places to have a drink in Playa, and did not disappoint even one bit. The views of the city are amazing, they have a sleek and spacious pool to lounge, plenty of seating and the daybeds are very comfy. The drink prices are also very reasonable with a cocktail averaging at about 120mxn, but by far the expert drink making and vibe setting with the music and friendliness of Jorge, Martha, and Roberto were the highlight of my visit. I’ve gone several times since my first visit and the quality they all deliver is unmatched and consistent. Highly recommend passing an afternoon there. Don’t forget your swim trunks!

We received good help from Karen when we checked in and throughout our stay. She had many good tips and was helpful in ordering a taxi when we were going to travel. Very nice staff and Jorge who worked in the rooftop bar was absolutely fantastic and made lovely aperol spritz. Slightly disappointing cleaning. Dust between the mattress and the bed and along the skirting boards. Very tired towels that were once white but now gray. Got two "towelcards" that we could use to borrow for the beach etc., but they were several times empty or only had one available. Breakfast was ok.

Great experience overall. Rooms are basic, but clean and air conditioning was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Karen, the manager and front desk greeter was fantastic and helpful with tips and ideas for our time in Playa. Close enough to the main strip yet far enough away from the noise. Also an easy walk to the beach. I would stay again.

Very nice hotel, adequate accommodations with a great location in playa del carmen, close to the 5th avenida. Small enough to where it feels very personable and the staff recognize you. Karen especially took good care of us and knew us on a first name basis. The rooftop pool & bar has good drinks and nice ambiance for relaxing in the evening. Additionally, the comlimentary breakfasts were delicious. All for a reasonable and affordable price. Couldn't be happier with Be Playa.
