This is a very family friendly resort. There were a lot of options for kids, and as a big kid, I really, really enjoyed the trapeze. The food options got kind of boring while we were there for 6 days. I did enjoy the snack bar woodfire pizza. It was really good. The restaurants that you make reservations at were really good. Shows in the evenings were fantastic. The entertainment crew was also very engaging with us. Loved them. Our first room was not the greatest, but we asked about relocating to a new room and were given a couple options. In the end, our room was satisfactory. The adult pool was nice and peaceful. It was nice to have a bar next to it and that it was secluded away from the loud areas of the resort. The resort is HUGE. I was impressed with the size of it. The disco was nice to have onsite since it isn't really within a district like the hotel zone of Cancun. We didn't leave the resort and we weren't bored at all - this includes the two 18 year olds that we had with us, which says a lot. I am not sure if I would book this one again or not. The mundane nature of essentially the same food daily was enough that I'd not want to return, but the caliber of professionalism with the staff across the board was really impressive.

We only go to the Viva Wynham Maya after trying Puerto Aventura and The Reef Playacar. Great beach with zero seaweed (thank the mayan gods!), good friends that work there that we see time and time again and share laughs with. The special reservation dinners that come with the plan, are as high end in terms of food quality, presentation and service, as anything I've had in the US and lots of western Europe. The buffet chow is tasty, if not presented in as high end fashion as some snobs may need, but does include excellent tuna sushi, ultra fresh ceviche and great fruits and juices, and the usual breakfast/lunch/dinner fare, none of which has gotten us sick over all of our trips. The watersports, including catamaran rides by excellent young skippers, sea kayaking or SUPs, was readily available as were great spots under the palms with no shortness of spots. Way more personal than the huge things next door. Clean rooms cleaned immaculately and I didn't even feel the need for the safe. Great to see so many Europenas take advantage of what many Americans have no clue about, which is a sweet mayan value, full of quality.

Stayed 4 nights and it was very relaxing and a nice place for what I paid. Plenty of options and good food. Rooms were cleaned daily and most staff were friendly and helpful. Beds weren’t too comfortable, check in was really slow, main bar is the pool bar and they work hard, but at times I waited 15 minutes for a drink. Beach was nice and had plenty of chairs. I didn’t like the fact that they wanted you to get out of the pool when drinking(never seen that and have stayed at lots of all inclusives). I would stay again, all in all good visit.

We just spent a week at Viva Maya -- August 11-18. This was our 14th trip to Cancun/Riviera Maya. This hotel did not disappoint. We liked the smaller size of this property. And, we loved the ocean front/beach and all of its palm trees. We would highly recommend this property. Pros: overall smaller size great beach with lots of palm trees and plenty of chairs cold water and juices available -- self serve on the beach ala carte restaurants -- delicious entertainment staff -- daily events and nightly shows everything is very clean and well-maintained Cons: small rooms -- a bit crowded with four people small pool -- always hot, not refreshing limited amount of ala carte meals allowed -- we would have loved to go to an ala carte each night We would like to acknowledge a few of the workers who provided us with excellent service. Antonio and Alberto at the Don Diego were very kind and helpful for our first meal there. Javier and Josie were equally helpful and efficient for our second meal. At the Portofino, Elmer and Harlyn took great care of us -- everything was delicious. And, Humberto and Edwardo provided excellent service at the Viva Cafe. The food tasted great and was beautifully presented. We had a great vacation. Thank you Viva Maya.

Looking for an affordable All Inclusive family trip to Playa del Carmen? Viva Wyndham Maya is the place. Looking for good food? You won't find it here. The quality is terrible, you will find yourself looking for items that are edible or going off the resort for good food. The beds are not the worst I have experienced but not very comfortable. The rooms were clean but worn and in need of updating. If you are a member you get better service and rooms. You even get a wash cloth instead of a hand towel. At 5am our toilet broke spewing water everywhere. We had to use our towels to soak up the water. Instead of giving us a new room, they came in and out fixing and cleaning up the mess. And made us wait until after 7am for new towels. Quality is better than affordability and if you can get both you're doing GREAT.
