Definitely an adult hotel. Parties, especially over the weekend, are sometimes held all night long. However, the hotel is recommendable. Very sylish, good breakfast buffet and pleasant service. I recommend it for party people.
I made a reservation for booking and the cost was one, when I arrived they charged me almost double. the hotel is ugly and tacky, they include a horrible breakfast. the receptionists are not friendly. My experience was not good.
The hotel was good clean and confortable, the staff in the rooftop bar was really helpful even though it was only one guy, so are the people at the breakfast they are really helpful and kind, the breakfast was really good, just the people at the front desk they were rude and in general they weren't helpful
We just had the dubious experience of staying at Reina Roja Hotel, an empty bathhouse, er, a “boutique hotel” in the center of PDC. We stayed there because we had read some places saying that it was one of the gay-friendly hotels in town. Regrettably, I did not log in to Travelocity and check the reviews (lesson learned!) First, the good (hey, can’t be all bad, right?): The TVs are upgraded and large. Breakfast is provided – and it’s OK for the most part. Parking is available for a small fee. The hotel is steps away from the famed tourist-trap Quinta Avenida, if you care to be that close to it. And, while it’s a weird design aesthetic, it is a coherent one; to me, it felt pretty creepy and liminal – which isn’t necessarily bad. Now, the bad: This is a NOISY place. Techno starts at ten AM and continues through the early morning hours. I had a falling rain soundtrack turned up to monsoon levels to mask the thump-thump-thump of techno. If you decide after this review to actually stay here, either drink yourself into a coma, bring lots of Ambien, and/or have great earplugs. Furnishings are sparse and uncomfortable. For example, the bed is firm. Very firm. Klingon-style firm. The sofa was poorly padded as well – and there was only one bedside table. Lighting? Mostly for design, not practicality. No lighting conducive for reading, either by the bed or the sofa. Washcloths are hoarded like gold for some reason (I noted it in another review); we requested more than one, but didn’t get them. Water pressure in the shower? I know, shower issues are a common problem in Mexico - well, this place has them too. The rain shower head provided more of a drizzle (and small for a rain head) – and the temperature fluctuated wildly from just right to boiling hot in a split second. Don’t be tempted by the claims of “boutique”. Or the low price. You can find much better properties in the same price range.…
This experience overall is a scam. They show really low prices however once you check in they let you know that there is an extra charge of $11 per person for the use of the beach club ( which we were not planning on using), a 12 -6pm open bar (however once at the bar we found out it only includes beer or wine, no liquors) and the breakfast (eventhough it is advertised as free breakfast. The rooms are ok and well located however there are a lot of hidden charges you may now see clearly advertised until you get here. Once we asked for a refund they immediately asked us to contact our travel agency to farther waste our time trying to get a clear answer.
I have been to this hotel 4 time, although only wrote a review for it the first time. My first visit was in 2016 and the last one was at the end of 2020, however I cannot believe how different the hotel is. While I will acknowledge that I stayed during more dificult times due to the covid pandemic, it was not an excuse for how dissapointing my stay was. The staff are still very nice and helpful people and they really try to make sure you are having a good time, however the state of the hotel itself is the problem. The rooms are very worn down. The hotel is about 5-6 years old if I remember correctly, yet the inside looks like it is 10 or more. Not working lights, heavily used furniture, no in-room amenities (even though they were promoted on the page when I booked the hotel, which was done directly on their website), no more free parking, and the shower was either too cold or too hot. I must mention that the breakfast was still very tasty and helped me fix my morning to a good start. The hotel's location is still a plus as PDC has grown into a more touristic area, but if you bring a car you have to either pay to park in the garage, pay to park on the street, or hope to find a parking spot in the nearby neighborhoods (which might mean you have to walk 10-15 minutes to/from the hotel). This was the last time I will stay at this hotel (unless it goes a renovation) which is very disappointing as it was one of the hotels I would try to stay at whenever I came to visit PDC. The other hotel shutdown last year due to similar issues.…
I originally intended to stay at the Reina Roja hotel in PDC for one week but enjoyed it so much, that I stayed for a whole month. In fact, I have just booked to return again. To review the hotel without giving it an exceptional rating would be difficult to do. Everything from the moment you arrive and see the famously award winning design of the hotel, to the amazing reception staff (Citlali, Dianna, Enrique and Fabian) you are greeted immediately with a smile and fast and efficient check in. I have not come across many hotels that greet you with your name each morning and a smile, like this one from the reception staff. Nothing appears to be a problem for them, as they are informative, helpful and deliver an exceptional service, especially Citlali who simply works 24/7. The chef Juan for the morning breakfast is always on hand to help you and cooks fresh produce each day. Again, an excellent service. And then of course there is the bar service…..What can I say, the Pedro and Mirian team are one of the best I have found and I travel globally and always stay at 5 star resorts, albeit this is a 4 star hotel but in my opinion, with a 5 star service. I came from the Sandos 5 star resort in Playacar and can say without a shadow of a doubt, that the service you will receive here is no different than any 5 star resort anywhere. Go ahead, put any of the staff I have mentioned here to the test and you will not be disappointed. The rooms are spacious, cleaned daily, with up-to-date amenities such as flat screen TV, toiletries and clean towels. The rooftop pool provides a relaxing atmosphere with sunbeds in the shallow end and a short splash pool. Accepted that you cannot swim in it, but it provides an alternative relaxing area and in any event, you have free daily access to the Martina beach club, if you wish to go to a new pool and splash in the sea, all at 44th street. If I can sum this hotel up, it is simply, an exceptional, clean, safety conscious, hotel with exceptional service delivery on all levels. I cannot honestly suggest anything to improve at the hotel, even the out of tune piano in the reception area is quirky and even if I did, I know that if I were to suggest a problem or an improvement, the staff would be immediately on hand to address anything. Value for money is certainly a key consideration here and the location, being right on 5th Avenue is perfect and safe. A definite recommendation to stay here and if you have any problems, just ask the staff who will be more than pleased to help you, I guarantee. Brian…
My partner and I visited this hotel initially excited abut the interesting decor. First terrible experience was the fact there was no iron in the room, we quickly got over that, however the experience got worse and worse. We were provide wash rags(they didn’t have any) the hot water lasted a good 10minutes causing us to take cold showers, and then of course our toilet stop working and almost overflowed into our room. However the staff was nice.
My partner and I came to Playa Del Carmen 01/14-0/19/2021. The first four night we stayed at an all inclusive resort. We saw great pictures of Reina Roja and in hunt for a Bachelor Party hotel for this spring we decided to book 1 night. Check in was easy and the hotel staff was great. Reina Roja fell short with three things tat gave me an overal rating of less than satisfactory or poor. 1st thing is our room had little to no hot water. The water only turned hot for 30-60 seconds before turning cold (Rain Shower) . They sent someone up but did not fix the problem. 2. The hotel does not give you any wash cloths - Instead they give you a half towel. 3rd The hotel has no irons or ironing boards in the rooms. I mentioned these concerns but did not push the issue as I was only staying one night. I would love for this hotel to host my bachelor party as every other aspect ( ambiance, staff, location, price) was GREAT. When the guy at the lobby saw I was upset I could not iron my dinner clothes he did run to what seemed the garage and gave me a broken iron that worked enough to get by. Again this place could be AMAZING with those three small fixes. ALL THE BEST…
Hotel is a cool concept and has great location since it’s only a block away from 5th Avenue but beds and towels are filthy and front desk was unhelpful. We had a late check in, process was smooth but upon entering room we were received by a filthy bed full of what looked like lube and brown stains. It only got worse once we removed the top covers there was a bad smell of urine. Went down to reception and they weren’t able to do anything, there were no rooms available to switch to and no staff to change out sheets. There was also a maintenance issue in the room and he mentioned he couldn’t do anything but file a report. We were so tired and it was late so we stuck it out, put a T-shirt on the pillows so we wouldn’t have to lay our heads directly on them and had AC very low so we wouldn’t have to cover ourselves. We later learned that this is a “motel” they rent rooms with temporary passes, you get use for 3 hours. Their morning breakfast was good and lady serving was very kind. …
