I traveled with some dear friends the last week of April 2021 to celebrate together many of the milestones we had missed due to the covid-19 pandemic. Our stay at Playacar Palace was absolutely delightful. While my party was fully vaccinated, we appreciated the measures put in place to ensure safety and sanitation - including masks by staff members, masks at the buffet and a seal on our rooms, ensuring no one had entered after cleaning. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. (Turn down service was excellent - never had a shortage of fresh towels!) Our rooms were very quiet, never hearing other guests or outside noise when we slept. Location of the resort was great. We enjoyed having access to both the pool and the beach. We never had any trouble finding enough chairs together for our party of 5 adults. We explored 5th Avenue and loved the proximity of the resort. We enjoyed all of the resort restaurants during our stay as well as ordering room services. The evening entertainment was lovely every night (but the fire show was our favorite). And we all had spectacular service at the Awe-Spa (definitely arrive early so you can experience so you can experience all the amenities like the sauna, steam room, polar bath, whirl pool etc). I would like to take a moment to recognize some of the staff members that truly went above and beyond to provide exceptional hospitality. Alan greeted us for check in and was incredibly helpful with answering some questions about our reservation as well as arranging covid tests to return home. There had been some confusion on my end but Alan was extremely kind and patient in helping resolve any and all issues. Sylvia was a wonderful waitress who served us multiple days by the pool. She was so prompt and thorough, always making sure we had anything and everything we could possibly need or want. With every interaction, she was positively a joy. Caesar, a food and beverage manager, deserves a shout out for arranging a truly special evening dinner on the sky deck. The food was superb, the service by Caesaro and Antonio was excellent. Thank you for helping us celebrate our girls' birthdays! Roger was a wonderful bartender at the Luna Lounge - we loved going there after dinner or the evening shows for a night cap and some pool. Roger kept our glasses full and the music playing! Brenda and Jorge kept us from being lazy the entire trip - we loved paddle board yoga, water aerobics and pool volleyball with these two! Margarita's massage and facial at the awe-spa were simply divine. Yesina and Portfio took care of us multiple mornings at Cafe del Mar. Here's a tip - sit outside and get the cafe frio, with tequila cream! Mario put on quite the show at the hibachi table, so talented and entertaining! In conclusion, we had an incredible trip. Thank you to everyone at Playacar Palace for making our vacation so relaxing and enjoyable. We plan on making it an annual trip and look forward to seeing all of your friendly faces again soon!

We visited the Playacar Palace Resort the 1st week of April 2021. Our reservation was originally made at the Moon Palace for November 2020 but due to covid we change the dates and based upon the reviews of Moon Palace at the time, we also changed resort. We were not disappointed with our decision. Playacar Palace is a much smaller, more intimate resort. It is super easy to get everywhere on the property. The elevators are quick to respond, and run efficiently. Our room was on the 4th floor and the elevators were fast and in good working order making the trip up or down a breeze with limited waiting. The resort is well maintained and super clean. The rooms are sanitized between quests and there was tape between the jamb and the door to ensure that the room had not been entered after being treated. The staff was constantly cleaning the public areas. All staff wore a face mask at all times. There were hand sanitizers throughout the property. I have never been to a resort where you had access to more pool towels than room towels. You could have as many as you wanted anytime during the day. No towel passes or limits of any kind. That is not to say that room towels were in short supply. The food in all 3 restaurants was good. The buffet’s pastries were exceptional both in taste and presentation. The Covid test procedure was 1st rate. The test was administered on property for free for 2 of us and we had to pay $19 for the third member of our party. A very reasonable cost. We scheduled an appointment, showed up, had the test and waited on the balcony of the room where the test was done for the results. In under 15 minutes we had the results in our emails and were give hard copies as well. I am sure that some guest will find something that is less than exceptional during their stay, but they certainly will be outweighed by the positive and not worth mentioning. We enjoyed the resort so much we have already booked a return trip later this year.

My wife and I stayed here for the week. The town of Playa del Carmen is good size, but not as big as Cancun which I actual preferred. It is around a 45 minute drive from the Cancun airport. This place is right beside the ferry that goes to Cozumel. We took the ferry during our trip and we both think we felt bad from diesel fumes. There is also a small airport close to this place. It seems the airport only handles small planes and I did not notice any plane activity at night. There is a mall very close. This place is at one end of 5th Avenue if you want to this kind of shopping (they will ask you o the street to come see their shop). The rooms are good sized and nice. With a two person jetted tub. The air conditioning works great. There is a small fridge with Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite/Corona/Big Bottles of water. There is a minibar of liquor. There is also a nice coffee maker in your room to make individual cups of coffee. There are some snacks chips, nuts, gummies. If you run out of something use the app’s concierge service and they will bring it to your room. The app was not working correctly during part of our visit, so hopefully they fix this. You can have room service. The TVs are nice, but keep in mind many of the channels are in Spanish. I did not hear other guests other a chair rubbing somebody balcony floor. The pool area is very nice. They will come around and ask if you need food and drink. This is where you realize the service at palace resorts is great. The people that work here range from good to exceptional. The beach seems to have eroded and is not quite as wide as in some pictures. The water ranges in color and is beautiful. There is a seaweed situation right now, but I think this is seasonal. They have pool activities late morning and afternoon, which are fun, I enjoyed the pool volleyball (1pm during my visit). The food is good here. At breakfast I suggest to make the French Toast fresh. The bacon, sausage, and most other items were quite good already prepared. The iced croissants for breakfast was my favorite item at breakfast and they should consider making it an everyday item rather than every other day. Order a burger with cheese at the grill for lunch and you can thank me later. Also the cookies and cream ice cream was quite good at lunch. Dinner there seems to be only two restaurants and a buffet option. In reality the Asian restaurants has two Hibachi areas, two hotpot tables, and if you have a special dinner it will be at Momos too, so Momos for us was four restaurants in one. The tempura ice cream is quite good. I believe this is the first time I have had octopus. The other restaurant is Italian and can highly recommend the calamari and petite filet. The spa here is quite good. I enjoyed the massages. If you are able to get resort credit I would use it at the Back to the people. Many of the people go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Daniel at the spa, Mercedes in the spa, Portofino at breakfast, to be honest I cannot remember all the exceptional staff.

My husband and I usually come to Mexico without our son. Last year we were supposed to come to Playacar Palace for our sons 9th birthday that was cancelled due to COVID. We came this year for his 10th birthday with family friends and had an amazing experience! The staff was wonderful with our kids. The food and accommodations were perfect for families. We have a big place in our hearts for our waitress, Sylvia. She was not just attentive but she became someone we grew to love over our stay! Thank you Sylvia... hopefully this is "see you later", not goodbye 💜

As an avid traveler in general, but specifically to the Yucatán and Baja California Sur, in Mexico... we enjoyed our stay. In hopes of answering any questions specific to your needs I’ll share the following: Reception- we’ve had better. Keep in mind this is a very urban/city location.. it’s quick not elaborate entrance/arrival.. they were not as accommodating as we are used to/would have hoped but lots of smiling faces - my feedback to the staff is remember as travelers from the US it has been a long trip especially with kids and if you notice we may have come from a colder climate make accommodations to increase comfort.. I want minimal conversation and don’t want to book anything special until I have eaten and changes into more appropriate attire.. Rooms - neat and tidy, well stocked fridge, great views, lots of energy. All the utilities function well other than phone and TV. But your on vacation so hopefully it using them much. Phone for ordering room service and well the menu is now on the tv so when it didn’t work it was a little inconveniencing. The food is good - I’ll get there. **if you like to watch tv, May want to bring a Roku stick or maybe hdmi to see if you can input to the tv.. we used a laptop to watch movies and had no cords. Everything on tv was in Spanish and no Netflix/streaming options. **walls are a little thin. Light sleepers will wake to the loud doors or nearby rambunctious children. We didn’t mind as we have two of our own, so if a family and occasionally noisy feel at peace — if sensitive to that kind of think may want to ask for room not near kids if they can do that kind of thing. Room service is on point, towels always stocked and fridge/snacks always replenished- can ask for specific drinks too if you catch them. As for drinks (made to order/bar) Recommend: iced or hot cappuccino (very well made every time), Moscow mule, purple rain, iceberg Food: go book hibachi right away (reservations are limited especially for non members - inside cafe Del Mar @ momo) **if not motivated by the entertainment you can order off menu the hibachi food (steak, shrimp, fish, chicken) this was our favorite- the last entree of the menu was very cool/good too: itchyachi or something. Cook your own beef on a hot stone at table. Italian food fans.. the Italian restaurant was great too for dinner. Petite filet was excellent with asparagus & mashed potatoes Between the two above 5 dinners of 7 were there. Cafe Del Mar and the outdoor dinner areas are fine just didn’t have the flair with the food/service that the other two offered. Pools are great clean and perfect temp. Lots of activities and attentive staff. The birds can get a little overwhelming when you order food poolside so don’t let your guard down... they are watching. Tours/membership sales.. honestly not too pushy. We are already interval members/other hotel group so we’re prepared and open. We did spend some money to get weeks but felt like we could have walked away and they had a lot of confidence in their product. You can start very small if you were ever curious and certain you would use/book the travel... you can always upgrade so start small if cautious. The benefits are there. Spa was delightful- keep in Mind spa credits have limited services and there are plenty of add on costs. Book your own tours. AVOID- Selvatica.. go to XCARET or XPLOR for cenotes- zip lines - those activities. Stay on top of transportation if you have it included book in advance There’s an OXXO across the street. Spend money there instead of at the on site shops for Misc stuff.. energy drinks, sunscreen, ect.. mall right there too for everything else.. Starbucks if you can’t deviate but the resort coffee products are not a downgrade in my opinion.
