This is our first time to Mexico and will not be the last. The hotel has an excellent setting right on the beach. We are beach people so didn't use the pools, there was always something going on around the pool. The pool/ entertainment team work really hard and are very friendly & even on the beach sat & chatted to us. The beach itself is stunning and you can do various watersports from the beach. We didn't have any problems with getting a sunbed even at 10 am. The staff organise various games on the beach during day. The hotel itself is excellent, the staff from the cleaners, bar staff, reception staff, and restaurant waiting staff all work very hard and always smiling and nothing is too much trouble for them. We ate in the buffet restaurant and the choices are excellent and cooked and presented very well, we ate in the steakhouse one night and was very disappointed with the food. We were in block 6 which is right by the monkeys. !! Early alarm call every morning haha but its their habitat aswell. The room does need updating and there was a musty smell but we only use it to sleep and shower in so its ok. Download the RIU app and you can see what entertainment is on & order things for your room ie extra towels alcohol etc Overall this an excellent hotel in a great location and can highly recommend it

Hotel's Favorite
We just returned from a 6 day trip to Riu Yucatan for our anniversary. I was very pleased. The resort was clean and everyone was very friendly. Drinks were plentiful and good. The food was good and some restaurants were better than others. You could always find something to eat. Pools were clean and they were always cleaning the beaches. Our room was always cleaned and air conditioning was super cold. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again.

Great hotel in great settings. Me and my wife had a fantastic holiday here everything was beautiful from the pools to the beautiful beach. We met some fabulous friends and the staff was amazing and work so hard and they deserve there tips. It was also brilliant you can use the other rui hotels as some of the entertainment is better in the Tequila for example 😉 definitely would return and the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars fot 2 reason yes rooms do need updating but they are still fine . Second reason was the food the food in the buffer was ok and some days it was really nice but the A la cartes restaurant was really poor in my opinion 😎 that's my honest review 😎 but the hotel and Mexico are still amazing place to go see you in few years 😉

just returned from 2 weeks at the Yucatan, our 4th stay there. just want to say, positive points. excellent staff service yet again, special mention for Alexandra at breakfast, Vincente at evening meal time and Alex on the outside evening bar, all very good at their jobs, lady who deals with towels (sorry forgot her name) always friendly and saying hello and all of the hard working entertainment team. food good with a large varied choice as always, rooms clean and tidy. negative points as mentioned by other people, very hard to get a sunbed unless you went out early and claimed one, a habit I hate, but we found we had to do it or we simply could not get a sunbed anywhere, one couple took over a 4 sunbed area by removing 1 sunbed and pushing the other one over into another area, then used it for just 2 sunbeds for over a week unbelievably selfish. Riu please take control of this as it can ruin some peoples experience of an excellent Hotel. also if there is a rule on covering up to enter the lunch time dining area and wearing a mask in all dining areas, can you please enforce it, the number of people not doing it was unbelievable. this aside we were happy to be there again and really hope we have the chance to return as soon as possible.

No complaints in terms of the hotel itself. The food was good, always choices at each meal time. Majority of staff were friendly. The rooms are older than the other 2 Riu hotels but this didn't bother us as we only sleep and shower and don't spend our days in them. Also they are cleaned daily and fresh towels if needed. The only complaint for me was that it was a real struggle to get a sunbed/chair around the pool and beach. it wouldn't have bothered me as much but the majority were taken up by other hotels guests. I appreciate we can use their facilities but the reason we booked this hotel was for it's location on the beach and not having to walk to it. So at 7.30/8am not being able to get a bed in your own hotel i felt was really disappointing. People staying in the Tequila should not get priority over Yucatans own guests. I think a rule of maybe them being able to come over but not until 10am would help as most people would have chose their beds by then. The towels started to go out really early mornings, seriously people must have set their alarms. I wish the Yucatan management would look at this as this would be the one thing that would prevent me from returning it seriously is annoying when you've travelled on a long haul flight for some rest and relaxation to then find you have nowhere to sit or lay down because of a different hotels guests taking over.

I stayed at Riu Yucatan for 1 week and at least everyday I had an issue with my doors not opening, the keys not working, and safe not opening either. Each time I was told I would have to wait up for a couple hours until someone could come out. I spent almost half my vacation waiting for someone to come help me. The people running the water sports are very shady as well I was asked every single day sometimes multiple times a day if I wanted “sugar for my booger” or cocaine and also offered me weed. They are very persistent and keep asking you to the point where it makes you very uncomfortable. I mean how many times do you have to say no thank you. It doesn’t seem like the resort even cares about this. The resort is beautiful and the all inclusive food and drinks is nice but customer service is terrible and I would definitely not comeback to this one.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Every Staff member very friendly and helpful which made the stay more enjoyable. The food is great and a good choice every day, lunch, breakfast and dinner. The rooms are a decent size and always clean and well air conditioned. There was an issue with the sink but was fixed eventually. The hotel was spotless always being cleaned and the cleaning staff always say hello. The location of the hotel is excellent, right on the beach and short walk from shops. The entertainment team are amazing and really make the hotel but a special mention for Gustavo who we became friends with, he lights up the place, so friendly and hilarious it isn’t the same when he isn’t there! We will be revisiting next year!

Stayed for 10 nights 20th - 30th April, originally due to travel in 2020 for my brother in laws 50th Birthday, have to say it was worth the wait, the hotel is spotless but as said in previous reviews the rooms them selves do need some TLC which I'm led to believe this is now due to happen soon, the food in the buffet for me is the place to eat, we visited the steak House at 8.10 & were told to come back at 8.50 we were then asked to wait for 10 more minutes which ended up being about another 30 mins when we eventually sat down we were offered some water but no other drinks & when the food did arrive the steak was not great & the vegetables were very hard, this was the worst evening of our stay, all the times we ate in the buffet restaurant it was excellent including the service, we had a couple of nights that we were woken by some inconsiderate guests who thought it was OK to shout & make as much noise as possible & another night when some lady also thought she could make a lot of noise as well, apart from these 2 incidents we slept quite well. The entertainers around the pool work hard & we enjoyed the beach party, we found the entertainment on an evening better in the Tequila hotel, the white party was great as was the neon party, you also get branded drinks but you need to ask for them or you will normally be served there own brands. We loved the animals on the hotel grounds & getting woke up by the howler monkeys was amazing, we were in room 3221 which is very close to the monkeys so no alarm clock required. This was my first visit to Mexico, I've visited the DR twice but did definitely prefer Mexico, Coco Bongo was brilliant as was Xcaret, the latter being quite expensive when you need to spend a lot more money if you want to things once inside. Overall this is a lovely hotel where all the staff work very hard, the buffet restaurant is very good but the others there is always a wait & the service especially at the steak House is no way as good as the standard set in the buffet restaurant, I would probably return but I personally prefer Greece which is closer to home & you can leave the resort & go to lots of different bars & restaurants but most of the Caribbean is basically stay on your resort unless you book a trip which I knew before I got there, you xam visit 5th avenue which is a short taxi ride away but it is a bit hectic & you do get pestered a bit which does get to you after so long. Hopefully this review helps in some way & there is definitely more positives than negatives at the Yucatan hotel.
