very pleased with the ambience, prefer the lovely stretch of beach with swaying palms (simply hop over the initial little bit of seaweed and you can enjoy a morning / sunset salt water swim each day, so good for the joints) , the fabulous layout and masses of space all over (as opposed to Cancun, choc a bloc hotels, solid block of rooms and lack of greenery) with tennis courts and football grounds, pool and ping pong table to stay active if desired - rooms are positioned all over the grounds and fragrance of jasmine around the outdoor chess set is very intoxicating at night as you return from the daily entertainment. Absolutely service based with excellent, professional staff be it Nafatari at reception, spa ladies (who provided masks when we forgot ours for dinner service), resto service gurus Alejandro Mis, Miguel, Liber, and Lucia in housekeeping (who ensured our frij was stocked despite our chalet (4403) being close to the outdoor pool bar and thoughtfully aired our swimwear in the sun) and not forgetting the every energetic young men at the evening entertainment - and the most enthusiastic pool bar service late into the evening. If you like authentic, hearty, non processed food , you get it here - non greasy beans, excellent greens, non stop salsa and guacamole, super smoothie bar, non greasy meats and appeased carb cravings (rice, pizza, pasta etc) and variety of decadent desserts (indulged with 4 selections at a time but truly loved the local caramelised plaintain), very swift, healthy grill area - themed meals were the norm and we got to enjoy spanish paella, mexican mole, and chinese assortments. PCR test was on hand at a chalet and priced in line with market med sites. oooh, yes, 5 minutes to the downtown 5th avenue, where you can also enjoy the promenade, shopping (Kristine salon 984 803 4267 offers great massages by Gina and Canda - $55 fr a couple!! and we enjoyed the excursions organized by local (canadian returned) Jesse Castillo 52 984 104 8891 - do get the well informed guides at chichen itza so you can question away and actually understand the mayan ambience - followed along a spanish Mass in cancun and catamaran chillaxing - do the cenote swim as its very invigorating to be cocooned in the belly of mother nature, tied back to history, stead of a concrete chlorinated pool we all are used to) and stroll along 5th avenue, the beach in case you missed it! All in all a very relaxing enchanting break - moreso during these challenging times ... having been in the industry, can imagine the extreme work and thought that goes to provide this seamlessly hospitable picture. Well done Allegro Playacar, awesome Mexico, Muchos Gracias.

Hotel's Favorite
Allegro’s exceptional service is what makes this all-inclusive resort stand out from the rest. This is a small charming, well kept, all inclusive resort. Due to COVID-19, it’s probably at half capacity at the moment. My fiancé and I loved the breakfast chilaquiles and green juice. The staff, Elizabeth, Humberto and Moises treated us like family. Then we would head down to the beach where Magdiel’s joyfully brought our drinks. The beach is well kept so you can really see that white sand and turquoise water. I’m not going to lie, we struggled at first to find a room we liked due to air condition issues but the manager Felipe Cruz took our complains with humility and concern, the third room was the charm. We had the romantic dinner by the beach and it was a dream, the surf and turf meal was excellent! Ricardo, our server was such a sweet angel, we highly recommend this resort. I’ve been to a lot of resorts but I have never been treated this well by staff. Can’t wait to come back.

When reading reviews, please make sure to read several. People shouldn't have 5 star expectations when booking 4 star. I was a little hesitant but we were in need of a vacation and decided to go ahead - so glad we did! Started lwith the beautiful open natural foyer and the friendly helpful front desk staff. We had to wait a bit for our room (not uncommon for all-inclusives and always depends on your arrival time) but we were welcomed to a fabulous lunch buffet, excellent Margaritas, all accompanied by the welcoming Humberto and wonderful team. Morning greetings from Elizabeth, Humberto, Allejandro became a daily event, as well as evening meals with Miguel, Luis, Limber - too many friendly people to remember all their names, my apologies to those we missed! We were impressed by the quality of food and the attempt at different theme nights. People, please remember we are still in a pandemic, so no surprise that there might be some restaurants closed or some minor inconveniences. Nightly entertainment done with heart and MC'd by the wonderful Edgarrrrrrrr! Short taxi ride (or 20min walk, but too hot for us) to downtown Playa del Carmen for many more restaurant, bar, salon etc options. Morning and evening dips in the sea - yes there was seaweed at times, but this seems to be common in PDC but the water was lovely. Yes, some rocky spots - walk down the beach a bit and there are lots of spots with better entry. Sad to leave, can't wait to return. Shout out from Canada to this wonderful gem of a resort!

My wife and I just returned from Allegro Playacar last night and we throughly enjoyed our trip. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept, and the beach is one of the best I've ever seen visiting any resort The staff is absolutely amazing. We spent alot of time at the activity pool and I think I had to go to the pool bar only 3 times during the whole week, the waiters and waitresses made sure our cups were always full (sometimes even bring drinks without us even asking) shoutout to Sairnel and Maggie (she said we could call her Maggie because her full name is hard to pronouce) The food was really good at the buffet for breakfast and dinner, and the snack bar for lunch The only negative aspects of our trip was that the bed in our room was really firm and the walls were paper thin ( we literally could hear the people in the room next to us having sex lol) so if you are a light sleeper I definitely would recommend bringing ear plugs with you. Overall I would rate this resort a 9/10

Good location, Perfect beach, clean and beautiful premises and great staff. Really horrible food with limited choices. Average room that had no warm water and smell like mold the entire 7 days. Only Buffett restaurant with NO speciality restaurants. Very watered down liquor.
