We booked this boutique Hotel for the first time.
From the location point of view, it is very central and nearby everything and even so very quiet around it.
The swimming pool area makes you feel that you are in a “ Oasis “.
The decorations of the rooms are very neat with everything you need like a mini refrigerator, a safebox,Tv, ceiling fan, central air conditioner, shower box and finally a balcony (varanda) . Oh and the beds are very comfortable.
Although it only has breakfast included, that by the way , has a variety of food, the hotel also offers some meals.
When it comes to one of the most important things, the Service was absolutely amazing from front desk, waiters and waitresses, housekeeping , maintenance and security.
The conclusion is that we Absolutely recommend it and if we ever go back to Playa del Carmen that’s where we are staying.
Thank you HM Playa del Carmen

This hotel was AMAZING! It’s difficult to find a place that looks exactly like the photos online, but this one definitely lives up to the hype and positive reviews! Immediately upon checking in, you are greeted by super friendly people at the reception desk and given a nice beach drink for free! The people in the hotel were not only super sweet and nice, but incredibly knowledgeable about the taxi companies and what you should be paying for travel from the hotel to certain places in the area! (Helpful tip: the ride from the ADO bus stop in PDC to HM Playa Del Carmen should only cost you about 50-70 pesos, aka any 5 minute ride in that area so that be fooled!!). The hotel itself serves such delicious complimentary breakfast with incredible variety. The pool is gorgeous and perfect for pictures and the pool bar service is simply great, especially during happy hour from 4-6! The hotel was a couple of blocks away from all the amazing food places, bars, and night life. There’s three beaches within walking distance of the hotel, with the one closest to the hotel being my absolute favorite! It’s only about an 8 minute walk away from HM Playa Del Carmen and the view/water is gorgeous! The restaurants nearby were all superb, my favorites being the local taco places and La Parilla!!

I truly enjoyed my stay so much at this hotel and will definitely be returning for the amazing hospitality (such wonderful staff and room service)! ❤️

Great stay at HM Playa Del Carmen. We booked our flights / hotel / transfer directly through the HM website and got a great deal - in saying this we had A LOT of issues with the transfers booked. They had severe delays on arrival meaning we waited upward of 2 hours at the airport for our car to collect us (meant to be a private transfer) and ended up in a group shuttle that prolonged our travel time. We booked the Suite with Terrace however at check-in the team at HM Playa Del Carmen tried to give us a standard room with out the terrace space - as soon as I clarified the booking they gave us the intended suite. The hotel itself is lovely, a little basic but has a wonderful pool area, cheap bar and the breakfast was just enough to kick start the day. If you're not fussy about super LUX this is the place for you as it has everything you may need plus the location is PERFECT to get anywhere you may need to go!

The hotel is as pictured - very beautiful and peaceful. Unfortunately with so many hotels to choose from, the lack hospitality will keep me from returning. Just a few examples are included below.

One night we decided to take out from a restaurant. As we sat there eating just a few feet away from the empty seats designated for the hotel bar, a staff member came over and said we could not eat where we were in case the space was needed for the bar. When we asked where we could eat he suggested we go to our room. Surprised and thinking there might be a language issue we asked if the only place we could eat was our room. The hotel employee confirmed.

When we checked out we noted we lost one of the two key cards provided. The employee charged us about $12. To be honest I think it’s great if they reuse keys. But the employee did not apologize for not telling us we would be charged when we checked in or explain the charge. It was clear she could care less about us.

If you are looking for a well located hotel this is a great place. Just don’t expect the hospitality this area is so famous for.

This room has a serious problem. The drain in the shower overflows out into the room with every shower. They said they would send maintenance to look at it but the problem is structural. The floor of the shower does not slope to the drain (one of the 3 rules of a plumber). The 1/2 inch high barrier to the rest of the room was quickly overcome by the water because it could not drain. There were several other problems each of which on its own would not be worth a bad review but taken together it was not a great stay here. Each time the AC fan came on the door to the room, being loose it its frame, rattled giving the impression someone was entering. Startling the first few times. The lighting was quite dim even when all the fixtures were turned on. The small refrigerator was very loud when the compressor came on and sounded like very loud water pipes. After a couple minutes in the shower the pipes did rattle and so loud it was scary. On the plus side the staff was great. As helpful as they could be given the out of their control problems with this room. The pool area was very nice though I wish they had a few loungers instead of all sun beds. The breakfast was good for a buffet though they could have filled things a little faster on our second day there. Fine the rest of our stay. We would stay here again but in a different room.

Price is OK. The facilities are a little problem.

The temperature setting of the air conditioning in our room did not work. We set the temperature at 22F but the room temperature could go down to 19F and would keep on dropping if we did not turn the air conditioning off.

There is a gap between the shower booth's glass door and water stop, so the water will spillover.

The people are nice there. The location is good. Just 5 minutes walk from the famous 5th avenue.

The Good: The hotel is beautiful, very well kept, and centrally located. They had a great breakfast spread included, which included made to order eggs, yogurt bar, fresh fruit, juice bar, and hot dishes that rotated daily. Also, took covid safety protocols seriously - guests are required to wear masks when walking through the grounds and not seated eating or in the pool area, hand sanitizer everywhere, temp checks at breakfast, all employees masked at all times, etc.

Here are the cons: No elevators, so all rooms with balconies and patios/terraces are up and down flights of steps. The first floor rooms are off the pool area, which I did not like. Wouldn't have minded the stairs much but dealing with health issues that made it more challenging. Most rooms have 2 double beds, hardly any king size beds. And by double I mean full size, they are definitely smaller than my queen size bed at home and we were tight as a couple. We tried to get a different room and none were available. We overheard another person complaining about this and trying to get another room and pretty much in a tense exchange with front desk about it, where the front desk basically told them, "Well we can cancel your room and stay if you'd like." in a nasty attitude. It pretty much summed up the customer service with front desk. They didn't try to accommodate their guests, I've stayed at other places in Playa for even less price than here where the people went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure we were happy and I ultimately returned a few times because of it despite the other things I wasn't too happy about.

I also had tried to contact them beforehand as this was for a birthday celebration and wanted to request something special or explore a potential upgrade to room and there was no easy way to get a hold them, only an online form and got no response ever. Lastly, my coworker called them because she wanted to surprise me for my birthday and pay a tab at the bar for me, among other things and they were not able to do that and she shared they didn't seem to care to want to try to either. A wasted opportunity for them to make money and get loyal guests. Like how could you not try to figure out how to do something to make your guest's day special, especially when someone is willing to pay for that?! It baffles me, I have never encountered this ever.

Lastly, the pool is almost 5 ft deep, which makes it not good for just hanging out in. If you go, you will notice that hardly anyone's in the pool and it's because it's too deep. I know there's not much they can do about that, but just a heads up, because we ended up paying for beach and pool clubs on other days because we wanted to just be able to hang in the pool and other pools in the area aren't as deep and more conducive to that.

I hope management really takes to heart the customer service issue because they def lost a repeated guest in me and we go often there, and my coworker was disappointed and was thinking to book there her own trip upon seeing the pics, but is now staying away.

We loved staying at HM Playa Del Carmen! The hotel was well decorated, the room was lovely, the staff was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was delicious, so many choices, we especially loved the Rancheros at the omelette station and the fresh fruit. It was wonderful to chill by the pool on days when we wanted a break from the beach. The hotel is super well located, walking distance to the beach, great restaurants and shopping, and felt totally safe. Definitely check out Moots and Uno Japanese Noodle across the street for delicious food, El Fogon for great tacos and Taconsciente a few blocks away if you’re looking for great vegan tacos. We would definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit to Mexico. Thanks HM for making our holiday extra great :)

Playa Del Carmen is absolutely our number one favorite destination to visit, we have been here 5 times. In January for some reason our regular hotel had skyrocketed prices, so we decided to look elsewhere. We landed on this charming HM hotel, and we are never looking back! The whole weekend went by really quickly sadly (but thats how you know youre having fun), checking in was very pleasant, and checking out was a total breeze as well. Our bedroom was really great, and do more than adequate for our needs. Nice pool, first class service, this is our go to hotel going forward in beautiful Mejico!

Great location for Playa del Carmen. Breakfast kept you content with variety. Staff pleasant.

Rooms are minimalistic, felt they could provide complimentary water bottles and a coffee maker. A/C very noisy!

Showers great. Clothes Storage is in the bathroom
Area and rooms have single shelves, so our items were pretty much scattered everywhere.

It’s busy, bit not so noisy you can’t sleep… unless your neighbours are playing music in their patios.

The pool area is great with tropical vibes and the margaritas were cheap
