Was a great time! Great location! Could tune the music down a little on the roof top and wish that the food was a little hotter on the buffet. But rooms and service and location I would give it a10+ I will definitely return!!

Hotel's Favorite
Spent 4 nights here for a birthday gateway with a close friend and we both enjoyed our trip. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very accommodating. Staff is always on site maintaining the property and the hotel was always clean. Housekeeping made sure our rooms were always tidy. The spa & the rooftop pool is where the hotel shines. I recommend doing the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa and visit the pool either early in the morning or once the sunsets since there’s not that many people at those times. The views from the roof are gorgeous. The hotel is locate within downtown so there’s plenty of options for food and activities. No major complaints or issues during my stay. The drinks could of been a little stronger for my liking but it’s all-inclusive and I understand why they might of tasted water down. There were a few cocktails on the menu I did enjoy and ordered plenty of those. The buffet breakfast and the Asian restaurant in the hotel were great but the food did take a while to be served. There’s plenty of activities and shopping to be done downtown so you will always have something to do. I would definitely come back.

Booked this last minute and we’re quite pleased with the location and the option for all inclusive which gave us access to their two sisters resorts. We did fall for the time share promo option, under the impression that it was a 90min presentation, which would get us to see Coco Beach and score us two massages. The presentation was almost 3 hours and the beach on Coco Beach was quite small and I didn’t particularly care for the resort. The pool bar area seemed to be closed and sitting there almost seemed a nuisance. As we politely sat through the elongated presentation and then explained as well as it being a financial reason we were declining but we honestly didn’t like the room or lack of privacy in the resort they persisted to try to explain different offers. I suggest opting out of the presentation and paying the $100 US dollars per massage, (the spa area was quite beautiful) especially considering they billed me for it at the end anyway (we did handle it, but make sure you check you’re receipt!) My only other complaint is we didn’t love the food. We did choose the all inclusive option so we could enjoy the other properties (which Playcar is amazing!) but also because we wanted to eat! Unfortunately we spent almost $1000.00 on dinning out anyway and would of been better off not opting for the all inclusive package, although my boyfriend and I did our best to make it up in drinking. Overall I’d say this is a great hotel. It’s close to 5th Ave and 3 blocks off the Beach giving you a great location to access everything. Their rooftop gives you a beautiful view of Playa and is a wonderful alternative to the beach.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Reef in January 2020. We arrived at 2 pm (one hour prior to check in) and we graciously received by the front staff. We were provided mimosas and given a tour of the first floor. Everything was explained to us: restaurants, the spa, what was included in our hotel, and how to access the other two properties. We were then escorted to our room and checked in a bit early- a wonderful surprise. Our room was located on the first floor and faced a street. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet included a station where you can have eggs cooked to your liking or made into an omelette, a bread station, meats, cheeses, yogurts, and fruit. Additionally, you have the option to order from a menu. We ate dinner at the Asian restaurant and the Mexican restaurant. Both provided great meals in addition to wonderful service. I cannot say enough about the employees, they are absolutely delightful. We paid for a couple Swedish massage and it was AMAZING! I totally recommend the spa. In regards to the location, you can’t beat it. We were within walking distance to restaurants, bars, and we walked to the sister resort Reef coco twice. It was about a 10 minute walk which was very safe. At the reef coco we easily found beach chairs both days. The town of playa del Carmen is lovely and there are tons of things to do. Lastly, I will add that since this is a lively town, there is a lot of noise. We were expecting this as we had read reviews regarding the noise, so we were not surprised or upset. If you are on the first floor you will hear the music from nearby restaurants. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back!

Every year, my boyfriend and I go on vacation. For our American thanksgiving we decided to travel to Playa Del Carmen with a few friends from holland we met in the Dominican Republic. Best decision we have ever made!! The staff was by far the best staff we have had the privilege of meeting. The resort allows full access to both sister resorts, we traveled to all of them and the Reef 28 is by far the best one. The staff at the Reef 28 really amplified our whole experience in Mexico, allowing us to really see the beauty of Playa Del Carmen. Alessia was the best server, giving us the best service every day. Such a beautiful adventurous soul. She helped us experience the beauty of Mexico and became a very focal point of our entire trip. Without Alessia we would not have experienced as many beautiful sights without her guidance. Along with Alessia; Gina & Monse were phenomenal servers as well giving us great service throughout our stay. Props to Raul for managing the roof and being a great host, always full of smiles when we we would see him. That man works long hours and was such a pleasure. Mario was always there to serve us lunch and he was amazing as well!! Orlando was our favorite bartender, and always left us laughing. Everyone else was fantastic too, however the people I listed were by far the best!!!!! The security was amazing too!!! However, I will say again, thank you so much to Alessia for creating such a fantastic environment for us. She was by far the best and we had the privilege to get to know her personally. She was simply exceptional!!! Such a wonderful woman!!!!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE Alessia. The food was phenomenal, Italian restaurant was the best by far. In my personal opinion, these people I mentioned above all deserve a raise or some sort of bonus. They work so hard and really care about giving their customers the best service they can provide. We met a lot of people who were rude to the staff/ bad tippers and I truly believe that they deserve more money for the amount of work and patience they do. Tip these people generously, they deserve so much. Thank you Raul, Gina, Monse, Mario, and Orlando for such great service and laughs!!! And an extra special thank you to Alessia for showing us places we never would have seen without your guidance. Alessia is the best!!!! We love the Reef 28 and will be booking again absolutely. Thank you to everyone for such a lovely stay. Te amo Reef 28!!!!
