The Grand Velas Riviera Maya is a BEAUTIFUL property. In college I took a hospitality study abroad where I got to see some of the best hotels in Europe... and this property blew most of them out of the water. The staff is attentive and extremely helpful. The food is amazing, the views are lovely. The spa is one of the most impressive I've EVER seen. I can't recommend this resort enough.

My concierge Anaid was fantastic and highly recommended. The Bartenders at the adult pool Isreal and Christian were awesome. The servers at the adult pool did a great job all week….thanks to Yas, Donato and Marco. Dinner at Chaka was amazing..great job to Antonio and Johnny. The property is gorgeous, the place is very clean and the staff is great and very happy and friendly. I have been to this resort 4 times and it is one of my favorites. Five stars from the Bull Family from Michigan

This super luxury holiday at Grand Velas was unforgettable and we are grateful to all the people who work there for how much they spoiled us. From the bartender to the starred chef we couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate our birthday. We definitely recommend this resort and we hope to be back soon.

This Grand Velas has a different and I would be inclined to say a more magical setting than the resort in Los Cabos which we have stayed at many times. Both have excellent and attentive service with an special call out to our pool attendants Daniel, Gabriel, Donato and Nemo as well as the staff at all of the restaurants of which there were too many to name but Edgar, Ernesto, Pilar and Karina were a joy at breakfast at the Bistro. A special thanks to the housekeeping staff (we’re sorry we don’t know your names) for keeping our room so comfortable and beautiful throughout our stay. Lastly we appreciate the care and attention of our concierge Viridiana. The food as always was some of the best we have eaten and we especially enjoyed the differences between the restaurants here in Riviera Maya and those in Los Cabos. There wasn’t a single miss at any of the restaurants which speaks to the excellence in the kitchens. The grounds are immaculate and the staff does an excellent job. The pools are varied and lovely especially the adults only pool which is situated close to the beach. Elena provided a fantastic, relaxing message at the spa cabana by the pool. We would recommend any of the Velas resorts as exemplary examples of what a five star resort can be but especially the one here in Riviera Maya. Hope to be back soon.

Aggressively convinced us to sit through a timeshare presentation for $300 off our insanely expensive weeklong vacation bill (specifically to offset the spa services we used) and when we checked out, they never took the $300 off the bill as promised. Everything is on the invoice is basically in internal hotel code and Spanish, and amounts are in Mexican pesos, so it was incredibly confusing. We called them immediately after returning home to let them know and ask for the $300 refund and they refused! Such shady business practices and shocking considering our vacation was super positive otherwise. Shame on your management team!

I'm not a celebrity actor, I'm not a sports superstar, and I'm far from royalty, but if you want to be treated as any of the above this is the place to be!! Their level of service and professionalism is unparalleled in my experiences as a traveler. You can expect this from the guy who rakes the beach to the general manager. Our personal concierge Melissa de León took care of every possible detail - from dinner reservations to coodinating a private yacht outing and an out of this world massage experience at their world class spa facility. She even went as far as having special treats for us and our 15 month old waiting for us at our suite when we returned at night. Her work was truly stellar!! As I mentioned, we traveled with our 15 month old. The resort was excellent in providing everything we needed for her - from crib to stroller and everything in between. The common areas are meticulously kept and are top class. The suites are spacious and well decorated. The food, oh my god the food - AMAZING!!! We will definitely be back.

Mauricio, your enthusiastic title sums up perfectly your fulfillment and happiness on this, your first taste of Grand Velas Luxury All-Inclusive Vacations. As you've experienced firsthand, residing at Grand Velas doesn't only make you our guest, but it allows Melissa, our gardeners, and all of us the chance to shine to make you feel like a VIP. And that honored label applies to your baby, too. We feel that the little one will soon have a say in where you vacation, and we'll do our best to open your child to many of life's luxuries and help shape the little one into a first-class traveler just like the parents. Mauricio, we look forward to having your young family grow alongside our Grand Velas family and make this wonderful experience a yearly tradition. As always, my friend, we place ourselves at your faithful service for all your family's future needs and requests. Thank you! RODOLFO GONZALEZ DIRECTOR GENERAL GRAND VELAS RIVIERA MAYA

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Velas. We spent 3 nights there over labor day weekend and were surprised by how quiet it was. The downside of that was that a number of the bars and restaurants were closed for refurbishment and that wasn’t advertised in advance. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The standard of food was generally very good, particularly when dining at one of the main restaurants. The food around the pool was slow to arrive and the quality was not as good. The all inclusive drinks were weaker than you’d get if you were buying them, but I guess that’s not that surprising. Our personal butler Alejandro was excellent, and went above and beyond to try to accommodate anything we asked of him. We also did a photo session with Kris the photographer and were pleasantly surprised by the results, but it quickly gets expensive if you like the photos. He was great with our 7 year old daughter. All in all an enjoyable trip. A few small improvements would have add this a 5 star review.

Thank you, Daniel, for selecting Grand Velas Riviera Maya as the setting for your family's summer vacation. As a team, we are truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you found our staff very friendly and our cuisine to be, in general, very good. As you have noted, once the summer school break is over, hotels in resort destinations experience low occupation rates. Many of those same properties will normally take advantage of the quiet time to upgrade infrastructure and perform seasonal maintenance to key areas. However, during these periods, we do not lose sight of the valued guests who honor us with their reservations. For example, our restaurants may schedule time for necessary maintenance, but at the same time, they will offer all our world-class menus on a rotating basis. Although there may be few guests, we still aim to deliver on our culinary program as well as our activity and entertainment schedules. You can be assured that we will commit to informing each guest of the day's activities, as well as the dining options that best represent each of our evening venues. And although we've never been one to skimp on the strength of our cocktails, if one wishes a more enthusiastic drink, we will gladly make that happen without delay. Daniel, we hope that the many positive aspects of your brief vacation entice you to return to our resort next Labor Day, perhaps for a lengthier stay, and take advantage of the amenities that we offer year-round. As always, sir, we remain at your faithful service, RODOLFO GONZALEZ DIRECTOR GENERAL GRAND VELAS RIVIERA MAYA

It was a great pleasure for us, Scarlett, to show you the level of quality that we offer valued guests who come from near and far to vacation with us. We, of course, wish to make your lengthy journey from England well worth your time. And we couldn't be happier to read that you noted the high caliber of gastronomy we employ and the well-enforced cleanliness we feel is essential for our discerning clientele. One of the basic principles of a successful hotel is its image and the confidence it transmits to the world in being impeccable: a place you would not hesitate to allow your children and loved ones to reside at for a week or two. And add to that boost of confidence our award-winning culinary tour and SE Spa, along with our stunning sightlines and warm service, and what you have is a vacation setting that's absolutely "Brilliant." Scarlett, on behalf of the women and men who administer every facet of Grand Velas Riviera Maya, I thank you for trusting us to deliver this outstanding holiday. You can be assured that we will continue to shine on your next visit to our paradise. Cheers! RODOLFO GONZALEZ DIRECTOR GENERAL GRAND VELAS RIVIERA MAYA

As always, it's a great pleasure for us, particularly our chefs, to learn that we've converted yet another avid traveler to our upscale style and brand of all-inclusive. You can only imagine what a similar dinner for two would cost in any major metropolitan city. Here at Grand Velas, this level of gastronomy is part of your evening dining schedule. So, if it's French on Monday, Italian on Tuesday, and 5 Diamond Cocina de Autor on Wednesday, etc., you can be assured that your palate will be vibrant and your finances will be at ease knowing you're receiving excellent value for your vacation investment. On behalf of our Executive Chef Mario Lopez and his team of world-class chefs, I welcome you to the Wonderful World of Grand Velas Luxury All-Inclusive. We await your return with open arms and your favorite table ready and prepared. Thank You and Bon Appetit! RODOLFO GONZALEZ DIRECTOR GENERAL GRAND VELAS RIVIERA MAYA

I REALLY wanted to love this place and was so excited to visit and experience everything I have been seeing in photos and videos posted. It happened to be very low occupancy for some reason the week of August we went so it was very quiet and allot of things were closed. This was disappointing as the Zen pool was completely closed and dinner was tricky since they had a rotating closed schedule (and 2 places were completely closed). There were also no shows, no kids zip line, no foam party, all the things they posted 1-2 weeks before we arrived. We are still in summer (August) and before school starts. I understand if there is not enough occupancy you can’t do some of this, but I do feel like things could have been done to make up for it. We paid the same price for when it was busy but got less for it. Would I go back? Only if there was a deal to experience maybe what it’s like the way it’s suppose to be.

Thank you very much for traveling all the way from London, England, to enjoy our style and brand of upscale Mexican hospitality. I apologize, however, if we didn't meet your expectations in some areas of the experience. Whether the resort is at a 10% occupation rate or 100%, it's our goal to ensure that all guests feel they received great value for their investment. Of course, to provide an excellent ambiance in our dining venues, we aim to have other diners present each evening to help create a warm and charming environment. That is why we rotate the services of our gourmet venues in order to achieve the perfect ambiance in times of low occupation. One issue I have already addressed with my team is the need to inform all guests of our daily entertainment schedule during the day and evenings. During August, we do indeed have evening entertainment and shows, but the key is ensuring that you have that essential information to plan your time better. Again, my apologies for the perception you take with you and for the lack of communication on our part. I hope there were many positive aspects to your experience to warrant another cross-Atlantic trip and, next time, enjoy the Grand Velas Guest Experience to its fullest. Until then, we place ourselves at your faithful service for all your future needs and wishes. Thank you, RODOLFO GONZALEZ DIRECTOR GENERAL GRAND VELAS RIVIERA MAYA
