Paid around 650 pesos or so for a private room for two people. (Around double the going rate in Playa Del Carmen and the surrounding area). Our door wouldn't lock properly meaning we couldn't leave our room for long. The child on the desk didn't speak any English (Not that this is a requirement, it just made it hard to...

Very unsafe and depressing hostel. When me and my friends were on the beach someone just entered our dorm (no problem to enter a room which has no key) and broke my locker (huge lock) and stole my money. And apparently stole also a lot more money in the room next to ours. One day before when we where in...

Stayed there one night. It was good, the dorms are allright, the nice point is the bar and dance floor on the roof with live band music. Its open to persons whome are not from the hostel so there was quite a lot of people and I had great time.

The hostel was a fair deal but rooms are not very clean and the mosquito fence in front of the window was broken so lots of mosquitos inside. Anyway, it is a fair backpacker deal with some local food places just across the street and 2 blocks from the main street. Wifi could be better as well.

Shared the room with other people, one of which had a locker full of marijuana. The room was dirty and the tenant had lived there for a month or so. Otherwise, the hostel was nice -- people were friendly. No breakfast option. Not a lot of communal area for seating / meeting people. Bathrooms were mediocre at best.

I stayed here for 5 nights in Dec 2014 for NYE, it is clean and does what it says on the tin... There is a lovely rooftop bar area, with good value drinks considering the area. Location is not far from 5th Ave where the main tourist area is located, highly recommend staying here if you are on a budget...

I am travelling Mexico and was looking at hostels to stay in when I came across "Happy Gecko" on hostelbookers.com. It was cheap, VERY central, but had a review of 77%. Ignore that rating. This place is amazing! 2 minutes walk from the beach, shops, bus stations (OK, maybe 5 for the ADO station) with an amazing open set roof...

The poor cleaning lady did all the work in the place. Everyone else just lounged around and rarely , if ever got off there lazy buts to help each other or the guests. Furthermore it was 4 times the price it should have been. Also the beds sucked. The water pressure was crap. The internet never worked. The TV didn't...
