My boyfriend and I took a couples trip for a week to the Fives. Part of our ownership package was 2 free 50 minute massages. Sandra and Flor were our masseuses and they did an amazing job!! Our massages were exceptional and we felt so relaxed after. The service started with 10 minutes in a steam room with a body scrub and then a quick rinse off before heading up for our massage. It concluded with 15 minutes in a relaxation room with a warm neck pillow and chamomile tea.

We brought our 2 kids (3&5) for one week and had the best time. It was so relaxing and exactly what we needed to get away. We’re already ready to go back!! I can’t say enough about the great staff - so kind and helpful- with absolutely anything we needed. They were so accommodating. Including our concierge, Claudia. It was so nice to have someone to help us each day; and she’s awesome! Everything was also very clean. We felt very comfortable and safe and appreciated all of their protocols to sanitize and keep guests safe. The pool and beach area was amazing. Unbelievable. We loved all of the space and that it wasn’t difficult finding chairs. Each day, we bounced back and forth. Within the big pools, they had shallow areas about a foot deep which were awesome for the kids playing! And, aside from the big pool, there are pools throughout the property - which was so nice to “change the scenery” for afternoon vs morning (so spoiled, right?!). Plenty of pool bars, which was awesome for us parents too! On that note, the property itself was so beautiful and a huge plus of the resort. Big property, with varying landscape. We loved that they have a jungle walk and paths. It made it really fun for the kids. The food and restaurants were also great. No complaints. It was really nice that each restaurant had plenty of food options for kids - and they would put together anything requested outside of their normal “kid options.” All you had to do was ask. For example, we asked for grilled chicken, rice, vegetables, etc. based on the restaurant and it was no problem at all. They say you need to have reservations, but the resort occupancy was so low when we were there that it really wouldn’t have been an issue if you didn’t have them. I do wish they would have more lunch or all day food options - for snacks, lighter food, etc. For example, they have one full service sit down lunch, but they would benefit from another beach grill type restaurant (aside from the burger bar they have, and taco cart). I do think they are working on one (construction phase). The gym onsite was very nice. About 4-5 treadmills, at least one bike and one elliptical plus great weights. It looked onto the main plaza area which was nice for treadmill runs. My one word of warning/caution: they will try to offer to you to get you in a sales pitch meeting. We sat through it and it was high pressure. About an hour time commitment (no cutting it short) and it’s awkward because it is so high pressure. I feel like there has to be a better way for them to go about this. It’s a great resort and family of properties, but the sales approach could be a bit more mature. I have such wonderful memories from this trip and am appreciative for such great staff and the resort. Highly recommend!

We had a great stay at the Fives after having to cancel our wedding there a couple times due to the pandemic. We ended up as a group of 8 and brought our photographer down so we could do a bridal photoshoot. My dream of pictures on the sky deck was finally checked off my list and my heart is so beyond happy. A few highlights: - Cinthia Medina (Prestige Ambassador). She absolutely took our trip above and beyond with her assistance. There was a hiccup with one of our group's luggage and she came to the rescue. - Adriano at Arezzo. We went back for a 2nd night of Italian because of him. Great sense of humour and made our 2 dinners there so enjoyable. - I didn't catch his name but there was a gentlemen in the Gin Bar on the day we flew out that went above and beyond to find me a banana (upset tummy) went the buffet was closed and smoothie bar was out. I am beyond grateful to him. There were a couple hiccups but nothing that would deter us from coming back.

Honest review by a travelling UK mum with a 2 year old little boy! Although we are still here and we really are enjoying ourselves, I felt ready to leave an honest review and remember this is my experience and my opinion. Firstly, we upgraded our package to the ‘EPIC one bed penthouse’ when we did this I will be honest, I expected the most luxurious room, although the room is clean and is nice I think I’m my head I expected our roof top to have more than just some metal furniture and a hot tub - that said, it is still a really nice room and the bed is super comfy. Upon arrival there was nothing in our room for our son so we did have to send for this - but it arrived quickly and he’s slept really well in his cot. Flavours (the buffet restaurant) - although the food tastes ok, it is very small and the selection is not the widest! The staff aren’t the most helpful and wait times for high chairs and drinks are really long. I wouldn’t say this is the most well organised restaurant but it does the job if you have the time. Arezzo (Italian) - our waiter was amazing, super attentive to our son, really friendly really helpful and the food was lovely! Oku (sushi) - this is by far the most amazing restaurant on the resort (if you like sushi that is!) so much choice, order as much as you like the flavours are amazing and it is a Wonderful experience in total, we would have been here 3 times in our stay! Koh Thai - again, although it was busy - food is amazing!! To eat in a bird cage, you need to by a bottle of wine about $75 - we did this, although I felt as an ‘epic’ member this shouldn’t have been needed - the wine wasn’t great, and we just got eaten alive by mosquitos! - the second time we sat indoors, the food was amazing again so really pleased! Metizo - (Mexican) - really good for breakfast and lunch! Food is cooked well and staff are attentive but the dinner wasn’t the best! The French restaurant is closed for a month so we haven’t used it. The adults only is off the cards for us because we have our son, we haven’t used the babysitting service but we have taken him to the kids club and we played with him in the pool and the shaded area - really nice set up to let him run and explore! The pools are all lovely, and all except the beach club - we never struggled for sunbeds! Beach club/Bali beds - we have had 3 Bali bed, again these are $130 a turn and again, having paid for Epic, these should be included in your package - however they are not, you do get waiter service but it is just as quick to go to the bar yourself and order this. One thing i will say - I do not feel like the epic was worth the upgrade, other than the WhatsApp group with your concierges to pick you up in a golf cart and book your reservations for you - it’s not really worth it - your suppose to be able to pick your pillows and aromatherapy for the room - this eventually happened about a week in, I just feel if you pay for a service you should get it from the start, not half way through. In conclusion - this is a lovely resort and they really try and help where they can! They are great with our little one, and when they have the opportunity they look after you, it’s just not consistent. I do not like the amount of ‘optional extras’ you need to pay for especially when we have paid so much for the upgrade and are still expected to pay for beds, Ice-creams and wine for a better seat. The evening entertainment has always been pleasant! The Disney show for the kids was amazing!! Haven’t been to the night club because we are in bed by 10pm. Do not be put off by this hotels reviews, it really is a nice place - but if you want a decent beach without seaweed - this place isn’t for you! (Barbados, Antigua or Bahamas would be better) but if you want gorgeous grounds, great food and lots of pools - this is a great facility for that! We have just under a week left and we’ve had a lovely honeymoon! (Lastly, they do not make a huge fuss out of honeymoons or birthdays unless you pay for it - both our honeymoon and husbands birthday and although they knew, it was not made ‘special’)

On the plus side, the grounds are beautiful and maintained in immaculate condition. The staff are friendly and helpful and the choice and quality of food is fantastic. There are some beautiful pools. However, there are a couple of significant issues that spoiled our holiday: the smell of sewage outside our villa and in the sea was very strong, depending on wind direction. Presumably this was also the reason the sea was brown and a red flag was flying on the beach in calm weather conditions … and potentially the cause of the stomach bug that confined us to the hotel for six days (so far!). The other issue was the nightclub vibe and noise around virtually all of the pools all day. It was impossible to find a shady, quiet spot for lunch or to read by a pool. It would be so easy to have a dedicated quiet area. The only other downside is the lack of storage space drawers/shelves in the bedroom meant living out of suitcases. Could have been an amazing 5-star but didn’t quite make it.

My wife and I had a great time at The Fives. Everywhere was neat, the staff members were friendly and ready to assist at every moment. Our butler, Andy, was exceptional. He was very proactive and had events and appointments scheduled before we even asked. He even went out of his way to provide personal services. He's the best! Next time we come back, I'll definitely request for him again!

I had a beautiful suite above a pool with a rooftop deck. The room was large and had two balconies. The grounds are beautiful with awesome wildlife and lovely sounds coming from birds. There are so many places to eat throughout the day like burgers, pizza and tacos. Just make sure to make reservations for dinner. The smoothies and ice cream shop are nice too. The staff is incredible. They work so hard and we were great tippers because they deserve it. I would love to visit again!

Beautiful gardens, very friendly staff who worked very hard. Lots of restaurant choice and pools. Hotel is on the beach, but it was seaweed season, tons of the stuff. The staff were out there clearing it all day so you could swim in the sea. The spa is very nice, Irma and Flor gave us a great massage. Very relaxing. Downside was an upset stomach, so was not able to enjoy the food or drink. After speaking to other guests, most them had a least one person in their party suffer too. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend

Dear ShellsBellz, Thank you for choosing The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences and sharing your kind remarks. We are delighted to read how much you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for highlighting our friendly service and giving a special mention to our amazing Staff and for sharing your wonderful experience at our Spa. We are sorry to hear that you had an upset stomach, we would like you to know that any reports relating the health and wellbeing of our guests are taken very seriously. Even though most people relate stomach sickness to something that they have eaten or ingested, there are many other factors that also need to be considered such as climate change adaptation, activities, personal condition of the guest, allergies, medication taken, alcohol consumption, etc. We can assure you that we follow strict hygiene procedures, and we take many precautionary measures. Regarding the seaweed, unfortunately the entire Riviera Maya as well as many other parts of the Caribbean experience every year an increase in the amount of seaweed being washed ashore during certain months. This is a natural occurrence and out of the hotel’s control; we do our best to ensure that our beachfront is clean and all seaweed is removed from our shoreline. We look forward to seeing you again at our beautiful property. Kindly, Management Team The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences

We had a great family vacation at the Fives! I would like to recognize Cinthia Medina. She helped us to re book our reservation at the pagoda. She also made my daughter’s 17th birthday so special. Our room was decorated and a gluten free dessert was in our room after we returned from our excursion. She is an amazing asset to the resort! We will definitely return!
