The trip went great overall, the timing was perfect and we all had a blast. The food, room / accommodations, and the service was all excellent. There was a lot of fun wildlife on resort too- we got to see spider monkeys walk through right past our pool everyday! Capacity was probably 50% for the first half of the stay and over the weekend a number of guests checked out so it went down to about 20%. As a result, they closed the swim up bar and a few restaurants we wanted to go back to but that is understandable. The beach was nice, although a bit rocky in areas getting in and out of the water. They also had huge sand filled bags setup as wave breakers surrounding the swimming area, which the kids had fun playing on, but took away from the scenery just a bit. The only things we didn't like were that there were a number of things that were not included. Room service was a $4 charge each time, the cute ice cream shop was not included, the "nicer" seating areas at restaurants were extra (ie: to sit out on the scenic deck, you needed to buy a bottle of wine for $120, etc.). Just things like that. Every resort has VIP options but this one seemed to have more not included extras than most, taking away somewhat from the all-inclusive feel. There was an adorable Mexican restaurant that included cooking lessons of authentic Mexican food, but it was an extra $60 each for adults and $40 per child to eat there. The concierge called to find out what time church was for us on Sunday in Playa Del Carmen, but when we got there it was 4 hours later instead so with our arranged pickup time already setup and we paid $80 for a roundtrip transfer just to walk around town a bit longer, which was fine. We were required to wear masks in all restaurants when not seated at the table, including needing a mask to order at the beach grill. Not a big deal and we got used to it pretty quick. The staff was great, rooms were kept very clean and the food was excellent, especially the Mexican and Italian restaurants. The layout is a bit different as we had about a 5-6 minute walk to the beach from our Villa, but being more spread out, the pool outside our deck was never busy. The $20 massages from vendors on the beach were amazing (according to my wife who had 2 and my daughters each got one), and probably better than the spa massages offered at the resort for $150+. A special thank you to our bartender Marcos, who did and excellent job and was very kind and accommodating. Same for Francesco (Frankie River).…
The Restaurants are all delicious and portions are not to big and beutifully presented. Best Japanese in Playa along with the Thai, Italian and senses are all consistently outstanding. Their Covid protocol is fantastic and the resort is spotless. You feel safer here than at home ! The staff are all great always happy and always super attentive and accommodating to guests needs. A special high five to Omar Rodrigues at senses. a true lover of hospitality industry and a gentle up seller ;) when he takes your order he makes suggestions and they were all great.
last year i had long trip in Mexico in 4 different resorts , all resorts were amazing but this one was on week of Christmas before we go home, i do not know what people like there may be they did not see better places, sorry but service was disgusting ! nobody refilled my fridge in the room for five days , they did not care !!! i was going for a walk in the morning and asked guys to bring me soda water they told me we do not bring soda to the room only cola , sprite and beer but even this i should to call room service after 5 days because my fridge was empty!!!What is that??? i have never seen services like that!! I asked juice at least from pack in the bar they did not have any except tomato! All hotels had different variety of juices but not this one!!! Every hotels had freshly squeezed juices in the buffet every morning but not this one!! They do not bother!!! i like to mix rum with tropical or orange and red wine with grape juice they did not have nothing!!! i mostly stayed sober there because i hate those chemical liquids what they add to the cocktails!!!! Thats all they had.. All previous resorts had no problems with anything I asked!!!At this time hotel was packed ,they did not prepare enough beds on the beach !!! Only one buffet was working with huge line in the morning for breakfast, food in the buffet was very poor!!! we started to skip breakfast at all!!! restaurants not very good, always something "no" , no olive oil no sauces no balsamic vinegar no decaff coffee itc!!!.....I really hate to leave bad review but i was very disappointed with my last week vacation... The only what I really liked its a monkeys -VERY CUTE!!! ...i will not recommend this resort to anybody!…
This is my second time visiting the Fives Beach Hotel and Residences and it was just as good as the first time everything from the food to the amazing staff and accommodations! The resort does an amazing job at ensuring that everyone is in a safe and clean environment with various cleaning and safety precautions. I’ve been to the resort my family and my friends and everyone had a great experience, a special thank you to Tamara for assisting me with the booking. Would definitely come back again!
We spent a week there and it was a great trip. The staff was very good and helpful. The beach area was small but nice and a little rocky so wear your shoes. The beach vendors were pushy so be careful with them too. We usually stayed at the beach pool or the swim up bar. Francisco was the bartender at the swim up bar was great about making us drinks el special so make sure you stop and see him. Overall our trip was very enjoyable and look forward to return trip!
