A hotel that advertises itself as boutique. It sits on Calle 60, just off the north side of the Plaza Grande. The main entrance is modest, sitting between tourist travel shops and bureaux de change. But on getting beyond the utilitarian reception desk, there is a loverly airy atrium leading through to a small garden, pool and restaurant where breakfast is served. We had a small double room overlooking Calle 60 with a small balcony. The room really was very small with little space for anything, and with a proportionately tiny bathroom. The street-fronting aspect gave some natural light but the street also gave much traffic noise from 5am, enough to wake us. The saving grace was that the square did fall quiet by 11pm. Service was perfunctory but adequate. Continental breakfast was barely adequate and is not recommended; the full breakfast looked better value. Overall a great location, but boutique only in style, image and price. Service and room were barely adequate.…
Have you heard the expression, “If you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig”? That perfectly describes this dump. Sure, as you enter the main area, it is visually arresting but that’s where it ends. Inside the rooms (I was moved once) the bathrooms wreak of sewage, the drains constantly gurgle and the walls are filthy. There are no desks as promised in the description and there are no drawers to put your clothes, so you have to live out of your suitcase. The doors to the balconies don’t close all the way so mosquito’s get in and they bite. Also, the main road (Calle 60) is right below your window and even great earplugs couldn’t drown out the loud trucks, motorcycles etc. Mid-week they tried to offer me a window-less room but I just couldn’t do it. I came for sun! I finally had to move out (found a WAY better place) and although they told me they would refund me, they totally lied and completely ripped me off so I am out a lot of money. The food was bad and now that I’ve had a much better experience my second week, elsewhere, I can tell you there is so much better food/drinks everywhere in the city. Do not be fooled by their photos and do not waste your money here!!!…
Central location, pleasant staff and nice common areas. But I am afraid the bad far outweighed the good. The rooms that abut the street (the majority in the hotel) are not properly soundproofed and the traffic/street noise makes it nearly impossible to get any sleep (or peace) until well after midnight. And even then you will hear motorcycles and trucks throughout the night. Further, as several others had mentioned, the plumbing is, shall we say, temperamental. You may get hot water and then again you may not. We also had a light in our room that would spontaneously turn on throughout the night regardless of how many times we turned it off. With all of this, the manager refused to give us any reasonable compensation . If you go there, make sure you ask for an interior room and hope that you get lucky with the plumbing and poltergeist lighting. Better yet, find yourself another hotel as there appear to be many nice ones in the area.…
We needed a hotel for a one night stay in Merida and Piedra De Agua was perfect. Located right in the heart of Centro - less than 200 yds from the Cathedral - you are within walking distance to everything you could need or want. The lobby is beautifully decorated and very inviting. The rooms, while smallish, are tastefully appointed and immaculately clean. But the courtyard was the highlight for us. We arrived late after a long day of travel, but at the prompting of front desk clerk Israel (who was extremely helpful), we decided to enjoy a nightcap and some appetizers before retiring to our room. It was a beautiful night to sit outside under the stars, watching the palm trees sway in the gentle breeze, while listening to some terrific live music. Highly recommend this hotel.…
Very stylish hotel, perfectly located a few steps from main square. Most importantly: staff very kind and extremely helpful. Everything has been done to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Attention: room on the street can be a bit noisy for those who need quiet to sleep. I more than recommend!
I haven't stayed personally at the hotel but they have gone above and beyond. My friends will be arriving today for their stay in Merida. I ordered them flowers to be delivered to the hotel. I forgot to add a note , so I called the hotel & asked If they could do me the favor and add a note along with taking the flowers to their room as I did not have that information. They sent a WhatsApp following up with me once it was done. The entire staff was so kind and helpful, the service was amazing!
Without doubt the best hotel in Mérida! Besides being extremely beautiful and unique, the location is absolutely not to compete with. It's walking distance to everything in the city and they sell amazing private tours as well! We went on two tours and they were just fantastic, and the freedom of having you own driver is what really made the difference. We even got our delicious breakfast to go since we wanted to leave early. We stayed in the master suite which was a truly beautiful and spacious room with everything you need. The service was brilliant and all of the staff were super helpful. The same goes for their restaurant which has some of the best food we ever had and awesome cocktails as well (to very reasonable prices I must add)! The only problem about this hotel is that you don't want to leave.. Ever🙈 We thank you so much for one of the best experiences, we will definitely be back🤩…
This is a lovely hotel, just a few paces away from the central plaza in Merida - location is definitely 10/10. The hotel is full of Mexican character, housed in a very old building with high ceilings. Generally the hotel was clean and was a truly enjoyable stay. On a less positive note, a couple of things: 1. There is no lift which in truth does fit in with this type of building. However, when one needs to carry their luggage to the top floor, it is a slight inconvenience. 2. Breakfast - there were always a handful of people to serve, and since breakfast is served on order, one would expect a quick turnaround. On one of the mornings, we were down early and ordered a pretty simple breakfast which took 1 hour to come. Breakfast staff definitely needs reinforcements or improvements. Otherwise the staff were helpful and overall we really enjoyed our stay.…
The setting, terraces and gardens give the hotel an extraordinary freshness despite being located in the historic center of Mérida. The food is extraordinary with a wide selection of Yucatecan dishes that are the delight of foreigners and locals. Sunday breakfasts are a pleasure, not only because of the food as I mentioned before, but also because of the Yucatecan regional music and dance show that accompany the diners in the large patio of the mansion. If something could be missing, the hotel is located precisely in the center of beautiful Merida, it has become my favorite place to get to the White City.
Actually loved this hotel! It’s an old (1855?) hotel that has been well renovated with a lovely, quiet pool and courtyard in the back. Generally good showers, comfortable beds, well appointed and reasonably quiet (the rooms facing Calle 60 can be noisy, but you get a small balcony to compensate). One of the hidden pluses was the restaurant which was uniformly good for any meal we had there. There were other guests, but it generally felt like we were in a large, private home. The staff was lovely and extremely accommodating (shout-out to Pilar, the excellent manager!). Highly Recommended!
