The setting, terraces and gardens give the hotel an extraordinary freshness despite being located in the historic center of Mérida. The food is extraordinary with a wide selection of Yucatecan dishes that are the delight of foreigners and locals. Sunday breakfasts are a pleasure, not only because of the food as I mentioned before, but also because of the Yucatecan regional music and dance show that accompany the diners in the large patio of the mansion. If something could be missing, the hotel is located precisely in the center of beautiful Merida, it has become my favorite place to get to the White City.
Actually loved this hotel! It’s an old (1855?) hotel that has been well renovated with a lovely, quiet pool and courtyard in the back. Generally good showers, comfortable beds, well appointed and reasonably quiet (the rooms facing Calle 60 can be noisy, but you get a small balcony to compensate). One of the hidden pluses was the restaurant which was uniformly good for any meal we had there. There were other guests, but it generally felt like we were in a large, private home. The staff was lovely and extremely accommodating (shout-out to Pilar, the excellent manager!). Highly Recommended!
This hotel was like being in a museum. The staff, food and drinks were all incredible. And to top it off the view was absolutely stunning! As soon as we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home. Right in the middle of the heart of Beautiful Merida!
So beautiful. Historic. And incredibly interesting. Kind front desk. Amazing downtown location. Beautiful pool back area. Kid friendly. Terrible food, just terrible. Some of the worst we have had in Mexico, or anywhere in the world for that matter. Don’t eat here. Why so terrible? Just yuck. It’s not even poorly cooked, the ingredients themselves taste awful. How can eggs taste this bad!? I didn’t know that was possible :-( The bathrooms are too small. I wish there was more counter space.
Nice location for the restaurant, but horrible food, which included A completely bad avocado eventhough we had send it back to the kitchen ones. It took very long time and the staff was not helpful. I got old berries in my açai bowl. The omelette was ok
This is a gorgeous hotel right smack dab in the middle of everything! But. You hear everything. The noise comes up from the streets and sounds like it's directly in your room. I have no idea how a property would even remedy this. And, if you're a city dweller, this may not bother you at all. I had difficulty sleeping. I would have used my sound machine app on my phone, but needed wifi to do so and the wifi would never connect. The tv also did not connect. I realize we're in this lovely town and should be out site seeing, but there are down times and we're accustomed to having these little conveniences at hand. The staff was incredibly nice. We checked in and they had us for two nights; however, we only booked on line for one. We went to the room and it was the wrong one. We went back to the front desk and they immediately admitted they had made the mistake and promptly had a bellman move our luggage. No attitude at all. I really appreciated that. Another time the front desk went to great detail to refer us to a breakfast place. So, I don't want to knock a place for sound structure. The tv and wifi could use some fixing. But, our room was spectacular with two doors that opened up over the street (could be why so loud) and the common area of the hotel is simply stunning.…
All of Central Merida feels like one big museum. Everywhere you look you will see beauty, authenticity and creativity. Piedra is no different, old and well maintained building you will be glad to call home for a few days. The rooms have high ceilings, giant old wooden doors, patterned tiles, and in my case a small charming balcony where you can get a glimpse of the cathedral and people passing along the busy street. The rooms surround a gorgeous indoor courtyard decorated by modern artist’s paintings and metal art. The building prepares you for the beauty you will see all around Mérida, and the staff will make you feel at home. The reception and restaurant staff is very professional, friendly and patient with my very weak Spanish speaking skills. This is not a luxury hotel, it’s just very engaging. I would definitely stay there again because of the kind staff, beautiful building, and great location. It’s a comfortable and engaging experience, not a pampered one. …
Daniel and his team provided outstanding service in a charming, historic 19th cenutury hotel. From eating breakfast at the quaint poolside courtyard, to the luxuriously relaxing spa massage, you will not be disappointed! Additionally, this charming hotel is steps from the old city center. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. You will not be diappointed by the charm and old world service.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. Staff were great and pool was good enough but rooms are noisy, beds are hard, wifi is slow, tv connection often went out and frequent problems with electronic door key. If you can put up with this - location is good.
Most of the staff had poor attitudes and acted as though they were doing you a favor by providing a service that you had already paid. The single rooms are tiny with 1 electrical outlet, no table, desk or chairs. If you do stay hope that it does not rain as the showers back up with sewage and you can imagine the horrible smell. We spent 30 minutes in the Pool area without any person offering service from the bar or restaurant and this happened on both days. The PM front Desk folks were good to go however, the day shift were bad with a capitol B. There are so many better places to stay in Merida.
