I stayed at the Villa Merida Botique Hotel for a few days. I loved the atmosphere and the kind service. The hotel manager, Batiste, is a very kind person, easy to reach and present on the property. For anything you need he's there. The place is clean, cozy and above all has a very nice atmosphere. As a single girl travelling I felt safe and relaxed. I will go back for sure!

For $50 USD/night I’m not sure you could do better anywhere in Merida, or in North America for that matter. The gardens (3 total) and pool are every bit as breathtakingly gorgeous as they look in the photos. The Villa is like a fortress that seems to block out the sound and smog from the city — yet somehow tropical breezes still manage to blow through the gardens to cool things off. Great care has been taken in the restoration and maintenance of the building. The common areas at the Villa were just as beautiful as the 5-star luxury hacienda we stayed at later in our trip at 4x the cost (the major difference being the hacienda was a full service hotel, which the Villa is not). They have decorated the common areas with era-appropriate furniture (Campeche chairs!) and many of the tiled areas outside the rooms look like they belong in an Architectual Digest photospread. The beds are comfortable, and we greatly appreciated the A/C unit. The villa is located on a main artery that feeds directly into downtown. We didn’t find the location to be problematic, as Uber in Merida is fast, cheap, and safe (as is Uber eats). As previous reviewers have mentioned, they have a fully equipped chef’s kitchen, and allow you to bring and cook your own food if that’s your thing. There is a grocery store less than a block away.

We rented the entire Villa to accommodate our families for our wedding in Merida and it was the best idea! There are 8 total rooms/suites so each couple had their own space, there is even a small outdoor space outside of each room - it was perfect. The rooms are nice, but the real standout of the Villa are the outdoor spaces. The entryway courtyard is magical, creeping vines, hanging flowers, and birds bathing in the fountains. The pool area is also magnificent, the plants are lush and the pool was always cool and clean. The outdoor space is immaculately maintained and we ate almost every meal next to the pool. The kitchen is large and was great for hosting a private chef and catering services. Batiste was really helpful during our visit and flexible to accomodate all of our special requests. The Villa is an enchanting place and I only wish we could have stayed longer!

This is truly a beautiful property with historic vibes. High ceilings, spacious, well-maintained with special touches (such as a pool table). Beautiful gardens and outside sitting areas. There is a pool surrounded by sitting options and tropical foliage. We did not swim in the pool, but did enjoy sitting at one of the tables having a beer one evening. There is a free use modern kitchen which is fully stocked with all needs. You just need to supply the food/drinks. Breakfast is not included but there are all the culinary tools needed to make a delicious cup of coffee and more. Although located about a mile from the town center, it is an easy and comfortable walking distance to town. We walked it daily without concerns. Merida is a very safe comfortable city to stroll. Uber is readily accessible if you prefer transport. The manager, Baptiste, is very responsive to concerns and readily offers local recommendations. We connected with him several times easily through WhatsApp. My wife and I stayed in room 3 for 8 nights. Comfortable mattress and soft bedding. Special touches such as a chandelier and painting of Diego and Frida above the bed. There is a ceramic water dispenser that is filled every day with purified water. This was truly a fantastic and eco-conscious addition. No plastic water bottles needed to drink water or use when brushing one’s teeth! There is a small refrigerator in the room, however there is an emphasis to store purchased food in the kitchen (there is adequate storage available). We did cool some beer bottles in the in-room refrigerator. Our only glitch was water that splashed from the shower onto the tile floors. There is a fan in the bathroom that fosters drying, but the floor can get slippery. We believe that this is related to the tile floor structure and given the historic aspect of the hotel may be difficult to correct. Calle 59 is a busy street. However the traffic noise was minimal in the room, but audible at times. Internal noise does easily transmit through the property just given its historic structure, however there is a noise policy to be respectful of others by 10 pm each evening. Merida is a beautiful welcoming city. We truly enjoyed our travels and our stay at the Villa Merida. (btw: my wife wrote this and I approve of this review).

This place is beyond beautiful. There are so many courtyards and rooms to just sit, relax and enjoy nature or read a book. The community kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed if you wanted to cook. Our room and beds were comfortable but you will probably want to stay outside while here to enjoy the courtyards and pool area. It is close to restaurants, shops, a lovely square with church, Super Aki is one block away as well as a gas station. Parking (safe) is on street within a block and was an inconvenience. The value for the stay was well worth what we paid for the short shopping trip we made to this exquisite city.

This not what you see and what you get, this is get more than what you see.
What an amazing experience!? :-)))
To start with; you will be staying in a historical building. It is very well preserved. Highest ceilings ever in a hotel room. Wow!
Street view will tell you nothing about this hotel. You have to walk in.
It has 2 inner gardens. In the first one there is a fountain fish pool, in the second one a wonderful swimming pool.
No breakfast, no room service but a wonderful, fully equipped general kitchen at your disposal. You can either cook yourself, bring or order food and drinks. Across the street there is a market to buy food and drinks.
Being able to sit around the pool, listening music, eating, drinking and even swimming with friends until reasonably late is a privilege.
You can either park on the street or use the parking across the road, which we did the latter.
Julia does your laundry in about 3 hours. Clean and ironed.
Batiste is always online in Whatsapp to help you.
Real nice people.
We stayed in #2 and the A/C was a bit noisy. Not unbearable and to be honest with those high ceilings you hardly need it. Fan would do just fine.
Thank you guys. Please do not change a thing. Hope to see you again.

Our stay at VILLA MERIDA Boutique Hotel was amazing.
From the minute we walked in the front doors, we were transported from the busy streets of Merida into an oasis.
The charm of the hacienda was tranquil in all common areas from the courtyards, sitting rooms and the beautifully landscaped and luxurious pool area.
We were in Room 4 and it was immaculately designed. The lounge area was huge with plenty of room to unwind and relax after a long day of sightseeing. The upstairs loft bedroom was equally huge with a walk in closet, baggage storage and dresser set behind an extremely comfortable king size bed.
Honestly, highly recommend this property as a must stay in Merida.

We had room #4 beautiful loft big and spacious. Bathroom was beautiful nice fixtures.
The pool could have been cleaned a couple of times a day as the fluff from the trees littered it.
It’s a small little oasis in the court yard
Easy check in
Communal kitchen very clean

Understated elegance. This was such an enjoyable hotel to have the pleasure to stay at. We enjoyed every moment there.
The suite was perfect, with a wonderful bed and pillows, a sofa, desk and chairs, wardrobe and dresser, small refrigerator, plenty of towels including pool towels.
The grounds of the hotel were so lovely, with plenty of seating in perfect areas, throughout the many rooms and areas of the hotel, lush plantings and fountains.
The pool is beautiful! Deep enough to tread water in the centre yet shallow areas for non swimmers. Gorgeous and thoughtful design.
Batiste,so wonderful, as are the man and women who maintain this property. Unstuffy, professional; welcoming, thoughtful, respectful! Beautiful!
The professional grade kitchen is set up for guests to use whenever they like, complete with everything you need, want and more! Even baskets to keep your things in the refrigerators! Coffee is made every morning to help yourself to!
This would be a gorgeous venue for a wedding or similar function yet would be a welcomed small business retreat. What a treat it would be! Approximately 10 suites of varying size but all are generous and beautiful with high end furnishings.
We enjoyed every minute there and have not one complaint!
Muchas Gracias and hope to return!

The Villa Merida is where we (my wife and I) go to escape the wrath of Indiana's winter, and to melt our stress away for a few days each winter.
The beauty of this colonial mansion can't be overstated. The rich colors, beautiful grounds, and the tastefully selected decor make the Villa Merida an oasis within the city.
Additionally, the staff are without equal. They are, without exception, the most helpful and friendly staff I've ever encountered throughout the world. You can see the pride they take in their work, and I appreciated them allowing me to be a small part of their special place.
