We’ve just got home from a trip to Merida which didn’t quite work out how we were expecting – but I’m so glad we were staying at Villa Verde. As many of the reviews below have already said, the Villa is stunning and a peaceful oasis near the center of town. The location is great and the rooms very comfy. I only got to enjoy one of the breakfasts but it was very tasty! We were there in early October and there were no day visitors to the pool / bar at the weekend so I can’t comment on whether it’s much busier then. However, the main thing I wanted to comment on is how lovely the hosts are. My husband was very poorly overnight on our first night at Villa Verde and he ended up being hospitalized for five days. I cannot thank Robert and Michael enough for everything they did. From the moment I had to wake them up at the crack of dawn to ask about which hospital would be best they did everything they could to make it easier for us. From organizing me an Uber to get to the hospital, to being a shoulder to cry on and a Spanish / English translation service, to giving me healthy snacks to make sure I was eating and a blanket to take to the hospital never mind letting us stay on as long as we needed with no commitment of length of stay. I was so touched by the kindness that they showed me – if you want somewhere where the hosts will look after you and really treat you like a friend rather than just a paying guest then please do stay at Villa Verde. It’s a beautiful place, with amazing hosts. If you’re considering staying – book it now!…
Our 10 days at Villa Verde with the excellent service provided by the owners were perfect. The owners Robert and Michael made our trip so memorable in this beautifully designed hotel. Their knowledge of Merida, the restaurants, special places to visit, and activities was superior. Can hardly wait to return to this very special place.
My friend and I spent 9 nights with Robert and Michael, the super gracious owners of Villa Verde while doing a spanish program. Everything was so wonderful - the food, the ambiance, the building, the location, the referrals, the service - everything! I will definitely stay there again when I return without hesitation.
Villa Verde is a beautifully restored grand house with modern amenities tucked into the heart of historic Centro. The owners were helpful and informative without being obtrusive. The gardens were as beautiful as the house. I would recommend Villa Verde to anyone wanting to experience the best of historic Merida. And breakfast was delicious!
This is a beautiful hotel with lovely tiled, lush gardens and a fountained courtyard ... a tranquil space away from the vibrant city ...the room was airy, stylish and large and the bed was comfortable. The pool area was beautiful and the daily breakfasts, which were included, were delicious and creative. The hosts help with maps, restaurant recommendations and must see sights. It was a small, welcoming sanctuary in a really beautiful city!
