Casa Lecanda is a small luxury boutique hotel exclusively for adults located within the historical center of Merida, Yucatán. Built in a completely restored traditional Yucatecan home, the hotel has been designed to retain the original Meridian style with points of European luxury so prevalent in the golden age of Merida’s Sisal barons. Painstaking attention to detail, architecture, and landscaping provides guests with a uniquely local experience and a sanctuary within the city; a refuge of serenity, privacy and relaxation. A place our guests can call home as they reach out and discover all the beauty and magnificence that the Yucatan Peninsula has to offer.

Fantastic hotel and a must stay. Super friendly and helpful staff. Balthazar makes the best Margaritas and gives out excellent dining recommendations. Breakfast was delicious, best continental breakfast I ever had. I don't normally eat yogurt but the fruit and yogurt dish was superb . Merida is a must visit city – the people, the atmosphere, the colorful houses, the quiet beautiful streets, the bustling busier streets full of life, the fantastic food, very clean, safe and a convenient to great adventures in surrounding areas/towns/cenotes. The Casa is conveniently located the heart of the old city. We had a balcony room with a large very comfortable bed, high ceilings, air conditioning, great bathroom and lovely spacious balcony.

A beautiful hotel with 7 rooms and exception personal service. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The hotel, service, facilities, food, rooms, pool and bar/cocktails were simply outstanding. The perfect location on a pretty street in Merida and many excellent restaurants close by and a short walk to all the main streets in Merida. The entrance and welcome by staff was excellent and we were offered a welcome drink ‘Tamarind Margarita’ which was amazing and we immediately ordered another! Our room was a balcony room with a large very comfortable bed, high ceilings, air conditioning, great bathroom and lovely spacious balcony. Breakfast was delicious located by the stunning pool. The entrance hall had an array of ‘Coqui Coqui’ scents for us to sample and use – the hotel smelt amazing. Incredibly friendly and helpful stall who gave fantastic advice about places to visit and recommended excellent local restaurants. We loved Merida and all it had to offer – the people, the atmosphere, the colourful houses, the quiet beautiful streets, the bustling busier streets full of life, the food was fantastic, all very clean, safe and a great adventure to surrounding areas/towns/cenotes. Thank you to all - we will definitely be visiting again and will recommend to all.

Ms. Bastin thank you for taking the time to share you experience with such beautiful words!. Guest that become as part of the family are the reason of our existence, and for us you and your husband sure are now part of Lecanda. I was happy to hear that you enjoy not only the hotel but the city and I really hope that the last part of your trip was as good as the rest. We really hope to see you again so we can share with you one of our unique experiences; our cooking classes including a visit to the local market and honey tasting, I am sure you both will enjoy it. Receive warm regards from all the staff of Casa Lecanda!

This was by far and away the best hotel we stayed in during our two week trip to the Yukatan. From the moment you enter into the small internal courtyard, you know you are in a special place. The elegance and decor of the interior is outstanding. The style is a mix of old and new, sympathetically treated. Our room on the ground floor was equally well decorated and had all the required facilities including lovely toiletries. Breakfast on the patio was excellent with fresh fruit, yoghurts, breads etc and the cocktails prepared in the historic and elegant bar area were equally well appreciated! All of the staff were charming and efficient. The hotel is just a few steps from at least 3 restaurants - all of which seemed quite popular so it is probably best to pop in and book if visiting at a busy time. We ate at the Steakhouse and the Italian, both were fine. You can walk to the town centre in 10-15 minutes - it's an easy walk as totally flat. We took time out just to wander down to and around the centre and it was worth a visit - Afterwards, returning to rest in the elegant courtyard of the Casa and having a cocktail in the bar was the perfect end to the day.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Lecanda for three nights in January. The hotel is stunning and the service superb. It is a very small and intimate hotel. There is a lovely bar area--try the tamarind margaritas. Breakfast is simple but good and served on the patio overlooking the pool (they even provided gluten free bread on request). There are several good restaurants steps away (we particularly enjoyed Micaela which the hotel recommended). Morgana, on the front desk, was very helpful organizing a tour service with an excellent guide to take us to Celestun Biosphere Reserve one day, a Merida city tour the next and a tour to Campeche and transfer to our next hotel the following day.

We read many positive reviews on Casa Lecanda and went there in person to inquire about the possibility of having breakfast there without being hotel guests. The manager showed us the beautiful patio and told us yes and that the breakfast would usually be served there. We then called a few days later to reserve, but when we arrived on the scheduled date, the waiters seemed very surprised to receive us, and ushered us into a closed room, saying that the patio was reserved for hotel guests. We then had breakfast in a dimly lit room. At the end, when my husband went to the bathroom, and I waited on the patio just for a minute, I was again told to leave by a waiter, and learned that every area except the entrance was reserved for hotel guests. Honestly I don't know why Casa Lecanda tries to serve breakfast to other clients if they want to maintain the exclusivity for their hotel guests. There was much dishonesty in the operation. We felt like second-class clients while we were paying exactly the same for breakfast.

Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your valuable comments. I am really sorry for such an unpleasant moment and for the misinformation regarding our breakfast service during your first visit. We are happy to welcome all visitors for breakfast and private events, however, we do offer priority to our staying guests since our rate includes breakfast, and the patio is part of the “plus" we offer to those paying a hotel night. Nevertheless, the service and attention should be one of excellence and outmost cordiality to all visitors without any distinctions. Please receive my sincere apologies on behalf of all the staff and hopefully you will give us the opportunity to invite you during your next visit to Mérida.
