We stayed for 2 nights during our honeymoon in the Yucatan peninsula. We had the room right in the corner on the top floor where it was very peaceful, and outside the room from the corridor overlooked the pool in the middle of the hotel complex. The pool was perfect as the weather was around 38oC, kept clean by staff,... More

Lovely hotel with historic atmosphere but clean and welcoming. Great location as close to main square. Seemed all rooms are away from the street so very quiet for a good nights sleep. Had a minor plumping problem that was addressed immediately and with no fuss. Good service at the bar, even though we ordered just a few minutes from closing... More

We were looking for a small, quiet, quaint hotel close to the historic center of town. Mision de Fray Diego was the perfect place recommended by a local Meridian. We arrived after 10 pm and were greeted by friendly bilingual staff one of which promptly took our bags and escorted us to our room. The hotel is just two blocks... More

A former monastery, named after Friar Diego, charming, moderately priced, spacious rooms, helpful staff and if you arrive by car, valet parking! Nice cosy swimming pool, breakfast OK, try the spanish ommelet!

It's a little nice hotel with an interior patio. The room was not very clean, had a lot of dust on the floor. the beds and pillows are awful, it's like you are sleeping in a rock. The food at the restaurant is good. Most of the staff is helpful and can help you to make your day trip reservations.

Excellent moderately priced hotel. We loved all the decor. The staff were all very helpful, can´t comment on the restaurant as we only had breakfast. we stayed in room 204, opposite the reception desk. Very spacious, good beds. Wifi reception not very good because of the thick walls. The only problem we found was that the air conditioner is directed... More

Thank you very much for your comment! It was a real pleasure to host you. We sorry to hear about the air condition. We would like to know, if it is possible, the room number you had, so we can fix it, and if you told this to Front desk in order to get help. Anyway, we are doing maintenance... More

The most interesting aspect about this place is that it is a former Franciscan monastery named after Friar Diego. The second most interesting fact is that in the agreement that you sign to stay here, the hotel can kick you out for participating in "immoral activity." I supposed that this involves either drugs or prostitution. So you know you are... More

Nice hotel with a lovely courtyard. The restaurant was good but opened late and closed early. Staff were helpful and pleasant. I forgot to tip on checkout and still feel bad. Good location right near Centro. The walls are very thick so there is no phone signal or wifi once inside. The mission theme was a bit overdone and the... More

Our first trip to Merida and we very fortunate to pick this hotel for our first few nights. It is just steps to the Centro but tucked away in a quiet courtyard, we felt secluded in an oasis. Walk thru an unassuming doorway, past the courtyard fountain. The excellent front desk clerks, who were happy to speak with us in... More

My wife and I stayed at La Mision de Fray Diego for our first two nights on a trip in the Yucatan. The hotel is true to its Catholic theme in many ways with crucifixes, paintings, and other little details. We booked one of the suites and we're glad we did. It was spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished. The valet... More
