We just returned from a 5-night stay. The owners (Jan and Rita) and staff are all gracious, friendly and knowledgeable. We were in Room 6 with a private terrace, which was great. The room is big and the bathroom is a nice size also. They even have Netflix so we could watch movies in the evening. Breakfast was included and was always tasty and ample. We liked the location - on a quiet street, within walking distance from everything. Could be a little distance from the center if you don't like to walk, but the neighborhood is good and we felt safe walking at whatever hour. If we get to Merida again we would definitely stay here again. Note: the bed is comfy but if you like soft, squishy pillows, bring your own. The restaurant/bar can be a bit noisy in the evenings, but settles down by 10pm or so.

We stayed for one week at this Boutique Hotel. Our room was Suite 4, top level overlooking the pool. The room was very spacious with an equally spacious adjoining spa like bathroom. The decor in the room was regional appropriate and functional at the same time. I would highly recommend this room from the location on the premises, spaciousness, quietness and privacy. This is truly a special boutique hotel - the service was exceptional - from bartender, to serving staff, to kitchen staff to reception, to the owner/managers. This was our first visit to Merida, and we couldn't have selected a better place to give us guidance as to what to see and do in the city and surrounding areas. Access at your footsteps to top quality local food, drink and service was fabulous. The onsite restaurant is open for breakfast from 7:30am and closes after dinner at about 10pm.

We spent 2 nights at this delightful place. Very friendly and attentive staff, fabulous food and a really nice setting. The room was a good size and the bathroom was an absolute rockstar, huge with a great shower and a whirlpool bath tub. Nice and central location. There were cooking classes available which looked great fun and wish I’d had more time to get involved with. My partner booked a massage which was done in the room to a top standard. Nice and quiet at night, a really delightful stay

We were booked by our agent into another hotel which was so poor that we looked for an alternative. In spite of having to pay again to stay 3 nights at Merida Santiago Hotel it was worth every penny. The room was perfect. The breakfast was the best throughout our trip. The many staff were delightful and could not have been more helpful. We did the tequila/ mescal tasting which was brilliant. Food from the open kitchen was fabulous. Being slightly away from the centre means a 15-20 min walk but Uber is very cheap as an alternative. Best to ring to book to get best rates. Highly recommended

The staff at Santiago Hotel Boutique is absolutely amazing. The dining and bar options are great and the grounds are very well maintained. The hotel is a few blocks from most of the main attractions in Merida, so be prepared to do a small amount of walking to get to most activities. Our suite was a nice size with a comfortable king bed and a very large bathroom. It overloooked the small pool and the adjacent outdoor dining area. We could have used a few more outlets to charge our devices, but nothing to really complain about. A little bit of construction is going on at the hotel during the day, but it didn't disturb us too much. We would highly recommend the hotel for those who want a more peaceful and quite experience in Merida and/or for those who may want to enjoy cooking classes and the nice dining options available at the hotel. We enjoyed our 2-night stay.

Santiago is a true gem. Its yellow façade tells you nothing about the interior. The courtyard/dining/swimming area is lovely & so comfortable. The room is huge, and we had a lovely patio; at first, I thought the furnishings somewhat spartan - but I came to appreciate them. The breakfasts are really wonderful. The hotel’s location is really perfect - quietly away from the center, but close enough to be totally walkable. What makes the hotel special, though, is its staff: owners/managers, Johannes & Rita are always there & helpful and José, the front desk clerk and the kitchen staff are so nice. Even if I didn’t like Mérida [which I did] I could go back, just to stay at the Santiago.

We had a really enjoyable stay at this boutique hotel. We were there for a week and had great service throughout our stay. Rita and Jan, the owners and their staff did everything they could to ensure a pleasant experience. The hotel is well situated in an area about a 15 minute walk to the centre. There are good facilities such as shopping and coffee shops nearby. The hotel itself has a very welcoming atmosphere with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. We were served a delicious breakfast every morning. The kitchen is always open and we loved being able to order snacks and drinks during the day while sitting by the pool. The hotel has its own restaurant and we ate there every night, which we found very convenient. The food was consistently good and the presentation of all meals was excellent. You can tell this is a well-run establishment by the staff who were always friendly and helpful. They arranged out of town trips and taxis for us which we appreciated. would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Merida. Thank you Rita, Jan and all your staff for a great visit

Merida Santiago Hotel is an oasis in the middle of Merida, easily within walking distance of the Centro Historico. It has a beautiful indoor courtyard with pool, lounge chairs and a restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and found it to be a relaxing getaway in the middle of the city. All staff at the hotel and especially the husband and wife owners are exceedingly friendly and helpful. The property is meticulously maintained. On-site restaurant has tasty, affordable food. We ate several meals there and the included breakfast (we had the Belgian waffles one day, poached eggs the other) was delicious. Overall would highly recommend this small resort within the city as a great launching point for a Merida vacation. Highly recommended!

We spent four delightful days at Hotel Santiago in Merida. The location on a quiet street right off Calle 59 and in walking distance to Plaza Centro is ideal. The rooms are spacious and the pool is beautiful. They also serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel and we dined there every morning and evening. The food was excellent. What really makes the place special is the employees. Many thanks to Mario and Rodrigo for taking such good care of us during our stay. These guys are amazing. They are receptionists, pool attendants, waiters, bartenders, and bellhops rolled into one! Such great people. The chefs are also great. A perfect stay.
