Casa Dos Lirios is a boutique Bed & Breakfast located in the Santiago neighbourhood of Merida, within easy walking distance of many of the city's historic, cultural and culinary attractions. Our home is a beautifully restored "casona", built in the early 1900s, in a quiet, residential area. Our 5 comfortable guest rooms are situated in our mature garden at the back of our property, and separate from the main house. There you will also find our refreshing pool, and cosy sitting areas; perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring Merida and the Yucatan. Our guest rooms are comfortably furnished with locally handcrafted beds, tables and armoires. We offer plush pillow top mattresses, high thread count linens, and hypoallergenic pillows for a restful night's sleep. Each private, en-suite bathroom is stocked with soft towels and organic amenities made in the Yucatan. A complementary gourmet breakfast is offered each morning, along with full coffee and tea service.

This review is a bit overdue and unfortunately finds us in the midst of a travel downturn. However, Sue and Steve's B&B gives us all something to look forward to once the world opens up again. You can expect a warm welcome from the very beginning. The room was spotlessly clean, with comfortable bedding and quality toiletries. WiFi signal was strong throughout the property. Whether you prefer to lounge in the pool or explore the city (ask Sue or Steve for dining recommendations), this is the place to stay. As others have mentioned, you'll likely have to skip lunch after enjoying Sue's gourmet breakfasts. The hosts are respectful of your privacy while remaining accessible for any needs. Traveling solo, it was nice to have a chat with Steve in the garden over a cold beer. Eagerly anticipating my next visit.

I really don't know where to start. I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely b and b for three weeks in February. From the moment we entered, where we were greeted with warm smiles, I knew that we had made the right choice. The grounds are lovely, just far enough away from the center of town, but still walkable, to escape the noise and goings on of the city. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and the bed amazing. AC and fan kept it very cool, as we were there during an apparent heat spell. Okay...let me just tell you about the breakfast, although I probably don't need to because everyone else has already done so. One word...AMAZING! From sweet to savory, and back again, fresh and beautifully prepared by Sue. Waking up to coffee in front of our door will be missed. And not just any coffee, from fresh roasted beans down the street. Steve and Sue were made to have a bed and breakfast...there are lots of beautiful places, but Im pretty sure that you won't come across any hosts like them. They seem genuinely interested in helping you plan excursions, make reservations, and coordinate with their tour guides, who by the way, were incredible, knowledgeable, and a true pleasure. Argel, our guide, is who made our every excursion memorable. A real pleasure. I would highly recommend Casa Dos Lirios... and most of all the opportunity to enjoy Sue and Steve's unmatchable hospitality! Also...I attended HABLA language school to further my Spanish studies. I have studied many places in Mexico, and this was the best one ever!

We recently enjoyed a 2 week stay at Casa Dos Lirios. Our hosts, Sue and Steve were astounding, incredibly helpful and caring. The breakfasts were sumptuous and upscale. Sue is an epicure. A luxurious mattress and comfortable sheets gave us a cosy sleep. The room was spotlessly clean, well appointed and inviting. Various settings in the interior of the Casa, eg kitchen, dining areas, stone walkway, trees, pool, etc. provide a feeling of adventure as one wends their way to one's room. We are grateful for the many suggestions from Sue and Steve as to what to explore and experience in the Mayan province called Yucatan. Waiting to come back.

We stayed with Sue and Steve for 8 nights. Beautiful rooms, beautiful, relaxing grounds where we daily enjoyed a peaceful happy hour with my brother-in-law and his wife. Sue and Steve had great suggestions for day trips, restaurants, etc. Sue even put us in touch with beekeepers who cultivate a type of stingless bee, after finding out my husband and brother-in-law were beekeepers. Breakfast was always delicious and healthy, beds were super comfortable. It is a bit of a walk to the plazas, but Uber was fast and incredibly inexpensive. Highly recommend staying at Dos Lirios!

Sue and Steve are gracious, helpful and meticulous hosts. The casa is beautifully detailed, quiet, and comfortable. We stayed for a week and yearned for another week or more. Like-minded guests offered interesting conversation in the mornings as we sat by the pool and enjoyed coffee and tea. Iggy, their all white and sadly, deaf, cat would stroll by on his morning sojourn. And then there's breakfast. Oh my. Sue is an extraordinary chef and each day a new deletable dish awaited us, always artistically arranged and mostly non-meat, which suited this vegetarian. Sue and Steve also shared gladly their knowledge of the city and surrounding areas as we sought to find sights and sounds beyond the typical. We're already planning our return trip!
