Casa Dos Lirios is a boutique Bed & Breakfast located in the Santiago neighbourhood of Merida, within easy walking distance of many of the city's historic, cultural and culinary attractions. Our home is a beautifully restored "casona", built in the early 1900s, in a quiet, residential area. Our 5 comfortable guest rooms are situated in our mature garden at the back of our property, and separate from the main house. There you will also find our refreshing pool, and cosy sitting areas; perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring Merida and the Yucatan. Our guest rooms are comfortably furnished with locally handcrafted beds, tables and armoires. We offer plush pillow top mattresses, high thread count linens, and hypoallergenic pillows for a restful night's sleep. Each private, en-suite bathroom is stocked with soft towels and organic amenities made in the Yucatan. A complementary gourmet breakfast is offered each morning, along with full coffee and tea service.

We recently stayed at Casa dos Lirios for six nights and it was an incredible stay. So much to praise! Our room was immaculate and so spacious. The bed was so incredibly comfy and so much so that we asked about where the bed and pillows were purchased so we could source the same for our own home. And attention to detail was amazing. Nothing was missed or overlooked. I have tried to think of something to provide a balanced review, but to no avail. Our stay was perfect. We were in Merida to visit with friends and enjoy some much needed downtime and Sue and Steve, proprietors of Casa dos Lirios, were such gracious hosts and recommended the most brilliant local restos and sights. They know Merida and surroundings so well and have suggestions for all tastes. And the Casa itself was beautiful, so calm and relaxing with the most heavenly breezes passing through. The courtyard with its calming colours and tropical vibe was amazing at any and all times of the day. It had shade and sunlight and just enough of both when in the pool or lounging. Can’t recommend it enough!

We stayed at Casa Dos Lirios for 5 days and are very happy that we chose it for our stay in Merida. The hosts - Sue and Steve - are wonderful hosts! We had a rough start to our Mexico trip since we had to make last minute changes to our flights but they were very responsive and not only accommodated the change with a very late check-in but were very kind to offer us a late breakfast in the first morning in order to allow us to rest from the long journey. The home made breakfast is really something else - my favorite was the eggs over tortilla chips dipped in slightly hot salsa (of course, the dish had its own name, alas I cannot recall - sorry, Steve, I know you told me the name at least twice :) and my girlfriend's favorite was the mushroom omelette. The room was fantastic - it was spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable (definitely the most comfortable we've tried in a B&B, also better than most bigger hotels we've been to). The skylight and the wall vine in our bathroom were a splendid touch - enjoying a shower in that space was a genuinely relaxing experience. Finally, the location is excellent - it's in a quiet neighborhood in the Central Historic district, walking distance from most sights in the city. Given that Merida is one of the safest cities in Mexico, this is definitely something to consider as walking can be a great way to explore the city (even though transport prices are more than reasonable). Thank you, Sue and Steve, for a wonderful stay!

It was such a pleasure to have you and your girlfriend stay with us, and we're so glad you loved our beds and our breakfasts! The dish you are talking about is "Chilaquiles verdes con huevos" - a favourite of ours as well. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us, and for the great review.

We had a great time at Casa Dos Lirios, a gem of a place. We stayed for 8 days late Jan early Feb 2023. The casa is a really cute set of rooms in a very peaceful neighborhood. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. Sue provided yummy breakfasts every morning, a different menu for each day, a real treat, and plenty of food to fuel our adventures. Both Sue and Steve shared all kinds of recommendations for restaurants and activities of interest with us when we asked. We rented a car and were able to park it right in front of the house. As a frequent traveler to Mexico, I was hesitant to leave a rental car on the street, but was assured by our hosts that it was perfectly safe, that Merida is considered a very safe town, and that's exactly how it turned out, the car was fine parked there. I would stay at the casa again in a hot second, it was super.

My husband and I traveled with a friend to Merida and stayed at Casa Dos Lirios for over a week. The inn is beautiful and comfortable. Our room was large with a king size comfy pillow top bed, comfortable pillows, an overhead fan and AC if needed. The bathroom is modern and large. A lovely breeze blew through the windows each day. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious and different every day, with Sue preparing different recipes and fruits, as well as juice and all the coffee or tea you want. The local coffee was super! Sue and Steve were knowledgeable and helpful in planning our excursions and places in town to eat. They are very kind people and truly enjoy hosting travelers. The walk to local plazas where there are restaurants and shops is about 1 km and a little farther to the central plaza. The neighborhood and all of Merida is very safe, quiet and clean. We had a perfect visit to the city, enjoyed the culture and friendly people, and loved our stay at Casa Dos Lirios. Highly recommend!

Big comfy room, beautifully decorated. Lovely courtyard with trees and tropical plantings, a small pool, great for sitting around and chatting or reading. Hosts Sue and Steve super knowledgeable, helpful, and fun to hang out with--also great breakfast cooks. Location is a pleasant walk away from the busy tourist center. Highly recommended.

As part of our honeymoon we stayed 3 night here. It was absolutely fantastic. A small charming hotel tucked away on a quite street a stone throw from the hustle and bustle. The owners were so caring and thoughtful. They helped out with great suggestions for activities and restaurants.

Steve and Sue are welcoming, helpful and gracious hosts. We showed up much earlier than expected and Sue was very accommodating by letting us leave our bags there while she finished her morning routine. Casa Dos Lirios is a beautiful property in a quiet and safe neighborhood. It has the welcoming feel of a private home yet there is ample room around the covered pool deck to sit outside at a private table. The rooms are spacious and well designed. On our request coffee was promptly served at 7 am and the following breakfast was unbelievably good. Great way to get an early day started! It is a pleasant 10 minute walk to Parque de Santa Ana and another couple minutes to Paseo de Montejo. Mid-day gets a little hot so we took advantage of cooling off in the pool. Steve recommended taking Uber from their house which I didn't even know existed until he mentioned it (not yet available in Cancun). My Spanish is very limited so it made getting around the city quick and easy. Average Uber cost was $2 or $3. Their helpful tips and recommendations on visiting Merida made our short 4 day stay there much more interesting, stress free and fun. I look forward to returning. Muchas Gracias!

We stayed at Casa dos Lirios for 5 nights in Merida (Dec. 1st to 6th/2022). Do not pass up the opportunity to stay at this wonderful little bed & breakfast, as you will not be disappointed in any way. The hosts, Sue & Steve (expat Canadians) were incredibly helpful (more on that later), friendly, approachable, and run a very intimate, clean, relaxing and beautiful accommodation. From the moment our driver pulled up in front of the home, we knew this was going to be a special place from which to base our exploration of Merida and other areas of the Yucatan. The house is such a beautiful blue colour and stepping inside the doors, you can just see how much they care for their home, the courtyard/garden and the rooms. We rented the King Efficiency Suite, so that we had a kitchenette and fridge. The room was spacious, the bed deliciously comfortable, and the shower nice and spacious and hot. The pool was such a refreshing place to take a swim in the hot afternoons, after mornings spent exploring on foot for hours or coming back from a day excursion. We pretty much had the entire place to ourselves except for 1 day. They have 2 cats, Iggy and Alfie and they reminded us our cats back home, waiting for us. Alfie often liked to sit up on our kitchen windowsill and watch what we were up to in the kitchen, lol! We have to say that Sue is an incredible cook and her breakfasts were to die for. We both agree that her eggs benedict with zesty lime/lemon sauce as opposed to heavy hollandaise was incredible and is in the Top Ten of breakfasts we have ever had - simply divine flavours! She also put together breakfast bags for when we left in the early morning hours on day trips, and Steve made sure there was coffee and tea awaiting out in the courtyard early as well. They shared tips on things to see (Gran Museo de Mundo Maya, PoktaPok Mayan ball game), places to eat (Apoala, Museo de la Gastronomia), strolling the paseo de Montejo, etc. All recommendations were great and we enjoyed them all. Now, words cannot express my feelings of gratitude and thankfulness for all their help regarding a very stressful and upsetting issue we had to deal with on our trip - to make a long story short we ended up without funds in Mexico due to my bank freezing my accounts. We ended up having to have money sent by Western Union and to make payments through Paypal. The situation was compounded by the fact that our phone wasn't working, and we were travelling to other areas of Mexico over the 2 weeks, staying in 4 different lodgings. Sue and Steve rose to the challenge and offered us Mexican pesos out of pocket to pay for food and to pay our tour guides, they allowed us to hog the use of their personal phone trying to call our bank and family members - basically they saved our trip from disaster and then some. The true test of how much professionalism and caring a business has, often comes in the darkest times, not when everything is running smoothly, and Sue and Steve showed they were truly concerned about our situation and would help any way they could. We are indebted to them for their kindness and completely recommend booking with them. We will definitely stay there again no question! Thank-you Sue and Steve for making our trip to Mexico and our stay in Merida for those 6 days the best ever, despite the circumstances.

My family stayed at Casa Dos Lirios for a week - the rooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean and private, and the A/C was the quietest I have ever experienced! The beds are incredibly comfortable. Sue and Steve are amazing hosts and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Merida is a lovely city and a great base for exploring the Yucatan. We saw cenotes, the beach, and the Maya ruins at Uxmal, all within an easy drive from Casa Dos Lirios. The location in the Centro part of Merida is perfect for exploring the city - easy walking distance to the historic sites, cool restaurants and fun bars. Cannot recommend highly enough - our stay was perfect!
