Hotel Las Palmas is your home away from home on Isla Mujeres, tucked away from the hustle-bustle of Cancun. We are a family run hotel (three generations of women, mother-daughter and grand-daughter). Naturally, our place is a very unpretentious accommodation with a casual, friendly atmosphere. We have many comfy communal areas, including a rooftop with a plunge pool. You'll find lounge chairs, hammocks, and tables with chairs to welcome you after a day at the beach - possibly an afternoon siesta. Our communal kitchen is also on the terrace and fully equipped. Our shaded deck on our second level, overlooking the street and is a great spot for people watching or reading a good book.We are located in the heart of the downtown. The beautiful turquoise of the Caribbean and powdery sand beach at Playa Norte are a block away (5 min walk). Just around the corner is Hidalgo Avenue, filled with cuisine from all over the world, live music, and friendly locals and tourists alike. We're directly across from the municipal market with four "loncheria" eating stalls, housing tasty, economical breakfast-lunch meals, as well as fresh squeezed juices. We have a hotel dog, Cachito (hypoallergenic, rasta-hair poodle) who is always ready for a stroll.

Las Palmas is the only place I would stay anymore. I've tried others while some are very nice, it does not compare with Las Palmas. You feel like family when you are there. Kate has a rooftop that is the best by far. Community kitchen on top floor, small dipping pool, several

Let’s just get this bit out of the way first: don’t expect a resort experience. It’s better than that. Why? Here goes... One - because you get to experience the reality of island life while staying in a small, family run, funkadelic hotel owned by Canadians who know what

Walking distance from EVERYTHING, it provides great sleeps (wonderful mattresses and pillows), many cozy nooks indoors and out, a huge shared open-air kitchen, and a friendly sometimes excentric group of fellow-travellers. Thanks to Kate and her staff, and to wonderful Steve and

This was our first time staying at Hotel Las Palmas. We rented "room with a view". Kate and her staff and friend helpers are very kind and welcoming. They were always available for questions or referring great places to eat. Our room was large and comfortable. Bed was great,

I so enjoyed my time at Hotel Las Palmas. The owner, Kate, is very welcoming and has really created a wonderful place for travelers. I was on a solo scuba trip for a few days and loved that they had the budget single room as an option. The rooftop and hammocks and reading nooks

The kitchen is for everyone's use. No food is prepared commercially, although guests do make great potluck dinners together and fish fries when they catch fish or by fish. The local fruit and vegetable market is right across the street from las Palmas and is open 7 days a week with fresh squeezed juices every day!

I have to be honest and say..."sometimes" we have an excellent signal, which can be received in most rooms. Most times we have a pretty good signal and a t times we lose our signal completely and that is very frustrating for us all. People on the island regularly picket the telecom providers to no avail. It is a part of island life that is not perfect. But again "most" of the time our guests can sit on the rooftop and enjoy their coffee and keep in touch with the outside world!

Carolina, We have very limited availability for that time, but if you didnt mind moving a fair bit when you first arrive then we could accommodate you. It would include being in a budget room for several days if you could work with that. If you could email me at laspalmasonisla which is a hotmail address, which i cannot include here... then I could give you more complete details. Kate Kate at Las Palmas

"Several of the rooms have windows on both sides for cross ventilation, but if you need air on, its very efficient"
"Street noise was audible but not invasive. Noise from other guests was not heard at all."
"Pent house rooms are the best. More modest rooms, including the bedget rooms, are more than adequate."
"Rooms away from front of buildig will be quieter."
"The budget room is small but cute and a great price! Some noise from a restaurant's music, but it quiets down after a certain time."
