Isla Mujeres is open, as is Kate at Las Palmas. We have been coming to Las Palmas for 10 years because of its high quality service, cleanliness, and wonderful environment; and this year, even during the pandemic, Kate and her staff met our high expectations. We had a relaxing, sunny, warm week with the amenities we're used to--clean rooms, excellent local food, comfy chairs, good company, a friendly community both at the hotel and on the island--I could go on. As always, we thank Kate, Safari, and the staff at the Las Palmas. And we can't wait to go back. P.S. The local market and restaurants across the street are open for business.
We have stayed at Hotel Las Palmas every January for several years and we are always overwhelmed at the warm hospitality and welcoming atmosphere that abounds. Especially this year, while the world is still experiencing the pandemic, Hotel Las Palmas is an oasis of calm while abiding to the strict protocols established by the local authorities. Owner Kate and her staff are there to make your stay the best. Kate is a wealth of information about the island of Isla Mujeres from activities to restaurants to the island’s history. The hotel’s location can’t be beat as it is short walk to Playa Norte, one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Beach chairs are available for guests. The bustling Main Street, Hidalgo, is around the corner where you can find all types of restaurants run by local merchants. The hotel also has wonderful outdoor common areas including a communal kitchen, a dipping pool and lots of shade. Tropical plants and trees are throughout the hotel creating delightful green spaces. The prices are very reasonable and truly a great value. Once you stay here, you’ll want to return time and time again. I highly recommend Hotel Las Palmas. …
We have been “islanders” for a looong time. Stayed just about everywhere on the island. We found our new home this past winter. Spent a couple of months here at Las Palmas. Words can’t describe how nice it was. Clean, the staff great, the spaces are a visual delight. Kate the owner is a gifted visual artist there is eye “candy” surrounding you. Socially it is like a little community, everyone friendly and lots of outdoor community space to meet new friends, eat and have some drinks. Location is the best , minutes to anything you want or need. Beaches are a block away. Cross the street and eat authentic food at the loncherias. A block away the “Hidalgo Shuffle” awaits you. A great stroll down the main drag gives you opportunity to have great food and great drinks. Enjoy your stay with Kate and the rest of the Las Palmas family. …
Hotel Las Palmas perfectly sums up everything we love about Isla! Kate, the staff and returning guests were so warm and welcoming right from the moment we walked in. We really enjoyed getting to know many of the other guests during our stay. With so many little nooks and seating areas, it's easy to find a quiet spot for some downtime when you want it. Of course I can't forget sweet little Cachito, the resident pup who stole my heart. The photos don't do justice to the wall art throughout the hotel, the gorgeous palm garden in the centre, and beautiful flowers everywhere. Everything is clean and well taken care of, you can feel the love that goes into making this great little hotel what it is. We made use of the big, open air kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave and toaster oven, plus all the dishes needed to cook for one person or an army. The Mercado/loncherias across the street, and Ruben's next door are perfect for inexpensive, authentic food if you don't feel like cooking. Playa Norte is a few minutes walk down the road, as is Hidalgo for eating/shopping/people watching. Plus so much more, just minutes from the doorstep. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Las Palmas who made it a wonderful week for us. We are already looking forward to next year's stay! …
Clean friendly and relaxing. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Walking distance to the beach. I was traveling as a single woman and felt safe, welcome, and cared for. If I felt like company I could find it and if I wanted quiet and rest I had that too. Stay here with friends and leave renewed.
