Our timeshare had a fabulous view from the small patio. The efficiency unit met all our needs though there were a few minor problems. Not much water pressure in the toilet and the shower leaked. This was repaired immediatley upon our request. The room was kept spotless! This resort has the absolute best view on the island. It is a...

I live in Cancun and I fish all of the tournaments in the area. They held the 2010 Isla Mujeres tournament on the 22nd and 23rd of May. I invited several of my friends to come and spend the night of the 22nd at the Avalon Reef Club and to give us a rousing send off for the fishing on...

After reading the reviews of The Avalon I was apprehensive. My theory is if half of the reviews are negative , then I need to worry about the accommodations. We stumbled upon the Avalon last summer when we took a whale shark tour . The boats park by the Avalon for a brief snorkeling stop. We were staying in Playa...

We stayed here after reading conflicting reviews for months. I suppose if you are going to take the time to review something it's either because your experience was wonderful or terrible - our's was WONDERFUL! We NEEDED a relaxing vacation and the Avalon was just what the doctor ordered! It's a quiet hotel on a small island connected to Isla...

We had visited Isla Mujeres for day trips many years and saw the Avalon Reef at a distance. We decided to stay on the island this year. I wish we had actually walked to the property when visiting the island in the past, but we didn't. At first, we were VERY disappointed. It didn't help that Tropical Storm Alex was...

The best thing about the Avalon is the location. Since we visited in June it was very hot. The ocean side breezes were awesome. The resort has soooooo much potential, but is lacking due to being run-down, in disrepair, and has closed buildings and restaurants. We did not feel that the staff were very friendly or helpful. There is no...

this was a nice little resort in a perfect setting. Everything was clean and the the food was good. we didn't find the breakfast buffet boring- there were lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, the pastries were fresh and the rest predictably good. The service was pretty good and we not only got into out timeshare at noon, we didn't have...

We were really concerned about our trip to Avalon Reef prior to our visit due to all of the bad reviews, but there really isn't one bad thing I can say about the Avalon Reef. The location is amazing. You can stay on the island of the resort and snorkel, sun bathe and just hang our or you can take...

Pool very cloudy and napkins, straws, etc. floating in pool. Member service person, very slow to respond, computers...

Daytona Beach, Florida

Why does Mia Reef management not respond to the complaints and negative comments in the one star reviews on TA, the comments about boring, bland food, the limited selection, the lack of quality steak, the almost nonexistant amount of shrimp and lobster available, the watered down "swill" liquors on the Mia Reef joke of an "all inclusive resort menu"?

Why does management only respond to compliments and praise from guests who have obviously never visited a "real" 4 or 5 star all inclusive resort in Mexico or the Dominican Republic?

How about a response to Mia Reef's constant violation of its timeshare members contracts?

Mia Reef Isla Mujeres is forcing its vacation club (timeshare) members to pay a mandatory all inclusive fee of $966 USd per week, in addition to their $600-700 annual maintenance fee. I have seen the contracts of the vacation club members and their contract clearly states that the all inclusive is Optional!

How does Mia Reef Isla Mujeres justify violating its members' contracts and having the audacity to state that "it, (Mia Reef Isla Mujeres) has the right to pick and choose what parts of the contract it accepts? At the same time Mia Reef states that the vacation club contract holders are required to fulfill the entire contract. Mia Reef insists its members pay their annual maintenance fees even though Mia Reef will not allow their vacation club members to use their resort accomodations without paying this all inclusive fee? And Mia Reef wants the extra $966 to be paid in advance! This is "EXTORTION", pure and simple!

Is Mia Reef unaware that contract law is contract law, and a contract cannot be changed unilaterally?

It seems that Mia Reef is a big bully that is taking advantage of a large group of senior citizens who paid thousands of dollars for this vacation club membership. Mia Reef Isla Mujeres is hiding behind the Mexican border, foolishly thinking that it is immune to American and Canadian lawsuits!
