#8 of 67 Specialty lodging in Isla Mujeres
Established in 1976, Selina Isla Mujeres was originally the first hotel on the island! Situated right on the beachfront, our unique location is complete with a cocktail bar, seafood restaurant, library zone, cinema room, and outdoor playground home to a range of music events and group workshops each week. Plus, our spacious, fully-equipped co-living apartments are decorated with locally-sourced artwork and comfortable furniture, perfect for travelers in search of a long-term getaway. Head to Playa Norte and Playa Sol, just a 5 minute walk away, and catch local runners and yogis out for early morning sprints and salutation stretches under the breathtaking orange sunrise. Need for speed? Rent our bikes, electric scooters or go-karts and explore the town in style! Back at Selina, refuel with crispy fish tacos and mezcal cocktails, followed by a live acoustic music performance at sunset.

Our visit was amazing. We had a great time and felt welcomed at all times. The staff was beyond helpful and charismatic. Wonderful place to disconnect, get to know other people and even do a little work on the laptop when needed.

If you enjoy horror movies and want to experience one, this is your place! If you are going for a relaxing holiday - stay away! We stayed from Dec 29th until Jan 2. First we were checked into a room that was already occupied and walked in on the couple in bed - a horrible first experience. Is this how safety and privacy work at Selina? (Spoiler: it is) On the second night we got woken up at 2am because it sounded like someone was in our room! Turned out that it was a hotel employee helping someone next door settle - it felt like there were no walls! We could hear their discussion about the leak in the bathroom and other problems at the hotel, and later heard someone snore and could even hear the burps through the wall. The managers response - this is just the acoustics of this place. On the third day - Dec 31st (we paid $300 for this night), there was no water at the entire hotel!!! We couldn't even shower after the beach before going out for the new year celebration!!! On top of everything, their facilities are filthy, the bathrooms and rooms smell like sewage, the pool area is infested with dog feces and everyone acts like they have not heard of the covid (what masks?!). We reached out to the general manager about the issues, but he didn't even bother to reply. Not even an apology. I wish this place was in the US, would love to report them to the Department of Health and Sanitation and the Consumer Protection.
