Our main goal for Isla Retreats is to provide an adults-only, tranquil and unique Caribbean-Mexican experience. Guests can get away from the hustle-bustle of downtown and everyday life to relax and savor the lovely island. We designed the common area to create a peaceful ambience featuring a salt-water pool with waterfalls, beach chairs and umbrellas, tropical gardens and an exquisite palapa. There are 6 villas at Isla Retreats. All are upscale, tastefully decorated, and fully furnished with everything you will need for your stay. All villas have flat-screen TVs, cable TV, iPod docking stations and high speed WiFi Internet. We provide beach towels and bath towels, high quality linens, a hair dryer, and in-room safe. Daily maid service. There is on-site staff available to accommodate our guests in setting up golf cart rentals and other activities. Isla Retreats is located five minutes from downtown and Playa Norte Beach.

Detailed Reviews
WE have just come home from Isla where we returned to Isla Retreats for our second time . WE have just booked another week for February 2021 and will definitely be staying with Katy and Dave in 2022 which will be our 20th year staying on the island . We are glad they had this vision and made it all happen .
In a word I.R. is perfect . The decor , the design , the amenities , the pool ,the location and the owners and staff all contribute to what is a very enjoyable time away from home ....and maybe that is why its so great as it feels like home ...with the addition of an ocean , a salt water lagoon ,palm trees and near perfect weather .
All the rooms are comfortable and clean but you should check out the web site as there are differences . The property is well suited for those that want to put one's feet up , read and relax . The location is what i call mid island and for those who wish to explore there is a world of excitement outside the front door . No matter whether you turn North or South upon leaving the grounds you will find beautiful views and vistas , bakeries , craft beer stores , beaches ,excellent restaurants of all sizes and menus to fit everyone's taste and more. If you like to walk you are perfectly situated
This is only a small taste of Isla Retreats ( highly recommend ) and the Island. In our minds its all perfection .

This retreat in paradise was built with so much thought and care for the little details that make a place special. From the plentiful electrical outlets, high quality finishes an everything to the mesmerizing swimming pool. I loved the beautiful tropical landscaping and how quiet my room was. The full sized coffee pot, small refrigerator, and microwave made it easy to have a simple breakfast in the room. They even provide a knife, fork, spoon and coffee. The housekeepers did an outstanding job of keeping my room clean. I was taking a working vacation and needed reliable internet to work. I was able to do so at Isla Retreats. The little touches like a bath rug near the bed so you can wipe off any sand or small bits of dirt before you get into bed are very thoughtful. I also really liked having a big water dispenser so I didn't have to spend money on plastic bottles of water to pollute the environment. The location about midway on the island makes it easy to take a taxi ride to town ( I was charged between 50-80 pesos) or go the south end which is less touristy and has better snorkeling. I rented a golf cart for 24 hours ($60) and had a blast. It makes it much more fun. ( But with just one person and 9 day stay, it felt too pricy to do it the whole stay.) I felt safe the whole time on the island. Playa Norte beach is heavenly. There are more good restaurants than you can eat at in a month. There is Covid antigen and PCR testing near the ferry back to the mainland. Also, banks near port if you need more cash.
Staff was lovely and kind. It was nice for me to get away from the crowded Playa Norte area since I had just spent 4 days at an all inclusive in Cancun. This place offered me a more homey feeling so I could pretend that I lived out of the country again. (spent 2 delightful years in Nicaragua). The big supermarket is a 5-10 minute walk away.
Just sad I have to leave. It did rain a lot while I was here in mid November but I will take the tropics in the pouring rain to a sunny day in the Smokey Mountains any day.
Thank You!

We just returned from a week at Isla Retreats. This is our second visit to Isla Mujeres during these Covid restrictive times. This time the "Traffic Light" health condition was "Yellow" as opposed to "Orange", and still things are very safe and the island residents and most of the tourists are respectful of the mask and distancing requirements. We felt safer on Isla Mujeres than at home, both trips August and November. Isla Retreats is mid island, but transportation is readily available and many excellent restaurants are close. The property is lush, and so hospitable, we hung out there most days anyway. The hosts Katy and Roberto are exceptional and so friendly. The staff is professional and friendly as well. There are only 6 units and it is adults only. Not sure why it is listed here as a B & B, as no breakfast is included. We had no problem getting to breakfast when we wanted however. The pool is a crown jewel. One of the nicest we have found on Isla. HEATED saltwater pool with easy access, and a perfect depth and ambiance with a nice waterfall and a palapa covered bar and frig right beside make it an ideal place to chill. Beach Clubs and North Beach are a five minute cab ride away for those who prefer the beach. Our hosts arranged golf cart delivery on site, a nice perk. The property is quiet, and pretty ideal for older couples. Younger folks would like it too. We will be back, and soon! An adult group would also really work well here.

Our stay in Villa 5 at Isla Retreats was romantic and memorable! Our room was very well appointed and the mattress was extremely comfortable. We slept like babies in the AC and quiet atmosphere. Villa 5 felt like a combination of a second home and a boutique hotel because it had everything we needed (from a hair blow dryer, clothes hamper, coffee, creamer and coffee filters, a gallon jug of drinking water, bath soaps, shampoos, conditioner...) and daily cleaning service. Katie, the Property Manager was friendly and helpful with providing local recommendations. Waking up to views of pelicans, ducks and blue heron on the water from our lanai was relaxing. Cold, fresh coconuts were always stocked in the pool bar and the salt water pool was the perfect temperature. Convenient location where we could walk to restaurants and stores within 10 minutes. We will definitely be back!

I had a wonderful stay at Isla Retreats. It’s a top notch property. I stayed in a one bedroom villa that was more than spacious and had all the amenities you would need for a longer stay. This included a fully equipped kitchen with new equipment and amenities. The living room had comfortable couch and relaxing chairs. Big screen Tv with Netflix. The bedroom and bathroom were comparable to a very nice hotel. The pool was incredible and there was an outdoor palapa with a gas grill bar and refrigerator. All the amenities of the villa were great. What made it special was the staff. Katy, the manager, was an incredible host. She was always around and had great recommendations. She also coordinated a delivery of fresh caught lobsters and fish for a very special Christmas Eve dinner. Her staff were also terrific and made sure my stay was comfortable. The apartment was cleaned everyday and they even did my laundry! I would highly, highly recommend this property.

LOVE Isla Retreats. I think we have stayed 4 times now and its definitely one of our top choices on the whole island. This review is long overdue!
Location. Just far away from the crowds but quick golf cart ride to beach, Chedarui and pretty much everything. There is a mini mart across the street, juice lady half a block down, the best cochinita pibil on the island a block down, 1 minute walk to the skate park for amazing sunrises with your coffee.
Sleep. Shades keep the bedroom nice and dark, ice cold air, amazing beds.
Grounds. Its an oasis. Absolutely beautiful. Each room has a outdoor sitting area plus there is a large palapa with tables / chairs, bar, TV fridge (with fresh coconuts in it each day) right next to the pool. You can always find shade or sun. Wifi routers are everywhere so you always get coverage.
Staff. Katy and Dave are amazing people. They are there if you need ANYTHING just fun to chat with. The rest of the staff is awesome too from the housekeeper to the nighttime security guy.
As for rooms, downstairs there are four. 1 & 2 on the right and 3 &4 on the left. They are exact mirrors of each other. 4 and 2 are hotel style studios with a king bed and small high-top table with 2 chairs. Plus huge bathroom / closet area. There is a lock out door that opens to the living room of the adjacent one bedroom units. (1 &3) The one bedrooms have a huge, fully stocked kitchen, beautifully granite counter tops and dining room table and comfortable living room. Then there is a long hall to the huge bathroom and then bedroom with doors in between everything for privacy if you want it.
Second floor has two large studio units with separate seating area and full size kitchen. These two units each have a very large private balcony. The third floor is a common balcony with views of the ocean and bay,
The heated pool (and area around it) is big enough that if other guests are using it, you don't feel awkward. But honestly, I've never seen more then 2 rooms occupied besides ours. Often you have the whole place to yourself. The waterfall wall, palm tress and layout just make it the perfect place to relax!

Isla retreats is an amazing place to stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. We stayed in villa 3, the kitchen is great and fully equipped. The owners Katy and Dave are really hospitable and helped us with our every need. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are crisp and clean.
The bathroom is great and I loved how they provided shampoo conditioner and body soap. The shower has excellent water pressure as well.
The communal garden areas are beautifully maintained and we loved relaxing in the chairs with a coffee in the mornings.
The shared pool is beautiful and clean, and the waterfall is a lovely relaxing addition.
We absolutely loved our stay at isla retreats, and are looking forward to staying here the next time we visit isla mujeres! Thank you so much Katy and Dave!

We stayed at Isla Retreats two nights and loved it! It feels like home away from home, but in paradise. It is small, quaint, and quite (kid-free). For me, relaxing by the pool, reading a book, and sipping on fresh coconut water (provided in the common area fridge) was a highlight. The host, Katy, was very hospitable. She gave us recommendations for restaurants on the island, and even set us up with a private dinner from a local chef. The food was amazing and it is an experience I’ll never forget. Highly recommend a stay here if you want the inside scoop.

We honeymooned at Isla Retreats recently and had such an amazing experience! The property is beautiful, well kept, clean and comfortable. It feels, and is, so private. We stayed in #5. The balcony was quiet and private and so was the private rooftop (and still had a view of the ocean). The extra touches were so impressive along with the finishes. Katy was an amazing host. We rented a golf cart (highly recommend) and went to all the restaurants she recommended and they definitely didn't disappoint. Katy's attention to detail to for the ferry ride, money exchange, tipping, check in, etc. made it so easy and comfortable. It was our first time to Isla Mujeres and we'll definitely be back and will stay with Katy again! Thanks for everything!

We are back again and will return with friends in February of 2023. Our favorite place on our favorite island to chill, take nice leisurely dips, read, paint, imbibe, etc. Katy and Roberto and their excellent staff truly make Isla Retreats delightful. This was our 5th stay with them and it is always a treat. Location near the skatepark on the Caribbean perimeter road and across the street from the very soon to open, Isla Brewing Company Beer Garden, the adults only 6 room resort is perfect for couples or two couples with two sets of rooms that give each couple a suite with their own king bed and bath. The price is very nice too, especially from May to Dec 1. The weather was also amazing on our 9 night stay. Can't wait to return with some Isla newbies in a few months!
