This was our second time staying with Magda and David. We absolutely love this B&B! Our room was very clean and pool was clean and beautiful. They also have an area to rinse and hang dive gear which is great. New air conditioners have been installed in every room making the rooms nice and cold! Breakfast prepared by Magda was amazing each morning and the coffee she prepares is the best (coffee drinkers you will love). Another great point is the B&B is located downtown which is great for walking everywhere or use the bikes that David maintains. Don't worry being in the bustle of downtown bc once you are in the compound of the home you are transported to a relaxing oasis.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week long scuba trip to Cozumel. This was his 4th time staying with Dave and Magda and my first. The property is a gorgeous oasis and very diver friendly. Magda made amazing breakfasts every morning and would call us a cab to the marina. When we would return, we would rinse our equipment off in the outdoor shower and hang our stuff to dry. There is a little outdoor area for hanging scuba suits and a drying rack for booties. The room was great, bed was very comfy and shower was huge. Plenty of hooks for hanging wet scuba and swim gear. Dave and Magda are such kind and wonderful hosts. Millie is their sweet and adorable little dachsund. Will definitely be staying here again and highly recommend it to others. Thank you for an amazing stay!

When I first visited Cozumel, I stayed at an all-inclusive resort, but quickly discovered that I preferred being in the downtown area, eating at the local restaurants, and seeing all that the island had to offer. Finding Villa Escondida has been like finding my home away from home and I cannot imagine staying anywhere else!

David and Magda provide such a welcoming and relaxing environment. The garden is beautiful and you have the feel of a private resort as you lounge poolside or relax in one of the hammocks. The rooms are large and spacious with plenty of closet space. Enjoy the island breezes or turn on the AC at night.

Breakfast on the terrace is always a highlight of my stay, from the fresh fruit and bakery items to the homemade Mexican main breakfast dish! I never leave hungry!

Villa Escondida is just a short walk from the ocean front, near many local restaurants, bakeries, and shops. It has everything you are looking for if you want to get away from the big resorts and enjoy a quieter, more personal stay on the island.

This was our first time staying with David and Magda and it certainly won’t be our last. Usually we only visit Cozumel for 8-10 hours or so via a cruise ship, but this trip was definitely worth the extended time. This beautiful bed & breakfast is located in downtown Cozumel only a 10 minute taxi from the airport. There is plenty of shopping within a few blocks, a Starbucks only a 5 minute walk away (almost a necessity for my wife) and a great Mexican restaurant across the street. The air conditioned room was beautiful with a king-sized bed overlooking the backyard pool (which was so refreshing and relaxing). The highlight of the trip, without a doubt, was the authentic home cooked breakfast by Magda (which is included in the modest price). We had fresh fruit, yogurt, delicious pastries from a nearby bakery and a different hot meal each day (a tortilla, egg & green chile type breakfast; breakfast tacos and a chicken enchiladas dish) all made by scratch with fresh local ingredients. For those of you interested in scuba diving, there are plenty of locations within minutes.

We have stayed with David & Magda 4 times. How easy is check in, the shuttle drops us off two steps from the door and David or Magda is there to great us.Clean, quiet, comfortable, close to good places to eat, dive shops the town square and a couple of blocks from the water, but not bothered by droves of tourists from the cruise ships. Breakfast is always a treat. You will not find nicer people than David & Magda.

You couldn’t ask for a better B&B. Beautiful, relaxing and the perfect location to walk to restaurants, markets and all the sites of Cozumel. David and Magda were fabulous hosts and made you feel right at home. The breakfasts were delicious and they were very helpful and attentive to all questions about Cozumel. The suites were spacious, clean and comfortable. Quiet and relaxing spot in the perfect location. We loved our stay and would recommend this to everyone.

I almost hesitate to write this review because Villa Escondida feels like such a precious secret that I’m afraid it will become impossible to book once the word gets out! But credit where credit is due—this place is an absolute gem. We love it so much that we have stayed 2x this year alone and are looking at traveling back for a 3rd time later in the year.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the fantastic owners, who made us feel like part of their extended family. Their warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for our entire stay.
And then there's Magda and David. Every morning, Magda prepared the most delicious breakfasts that became a highlight of our trip. Fresh, flavorful, and made with love, each meal was a culinary delight that we looked forward to daily. David is always around in to have a chat, ask for advice and even share a great story or two.
The villa offers just two hotel rooms and a one-bedroom apartment for those interested in longer stays, ensuring an intimate and peaceful experience. If you need any tips about your stay—whether it’s beach clubs, restaurants, dive spots, or excursions—the owners are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help. Plus, there’s a book in the shared common area filled with recommendations for both well-known and hidden gems to try.
You can’t beat the location. Nestled in the center of town, you’re close to everything but set back just enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of the cruise crowds. It truly is an oasis.
If you’re looking for a place that offers genuine hospitality, fantastic breakfast, and a peaceful retreat, Villa Escondida is it. Just don’t tell too many people—I want to make sure I can book my spot again next time!

My husband I spent 9 nights at this beautiful villa, from the moment we arrived David and Magda made us feel at home. It’s the perfect location downtown surrounded by great restaurants, the bed is so comfortable and it’s a nice quiet oasis. We also used The bicycles to get around which was great. Magda’s personal touch with a traditional breakfast is so lovely and thoughtful and I would stay back there in a heart beat!

This is home away from home. My wife and I have been coming here for 12 years and will not stay anywhere else on the island ( we have stayed at other hotels before discovering this gem). David and Magda have taken us into the family and we couldn’t be more pleased with the beautiful setting, friendly culture that is their bed and breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, Magda makes the trips with her Caribbean French toast and other breakfast delights.
It’s walking distance from the island center where you will find many great restaurants (Le Chef , Guidos) and shopping. The rooms come with maid service and the pool is beautiful.

I just completed a 9 day stay at Villa Escondida. My hosts, Magda and David, made my visit pleasant and relaxing. Their B&B is an oasis downtown with a beautiful garden, cool pool, and comfortable rooms. The location is convenient to good dining and near several dive shops. Magda prepares wonderful breakfasts that make it easy for me to catch my morning dive boat. Both she and David are excellent sources of information on things to do on the island and are also available for just a friendly chat. They really seem to love their island home and enjoy sharing it with their guests. I hope to visit them again very soon.
