After several years of staying at a relatively inexpensive hotel with ocean view, we decided to try something different, and we are so happy to have found Silvia and Greg's wonderful piece of paradise. The room is clean and spacious, tastefully decorated a has small fridge and coffeemaker. They provide organic coffee for guests, which is delicious, and a self-serve... More

Prior trips to Cozumel had been spent at resorts and I now realize that I could have been anywhere. Staying at Los Alcatraces gave me the flavor and experience of Caribbean Mexico. From the delightful and beautifully appointed property to the meticulous personal attention to detail every aspect of the stay was perfect. The room was lovely with tropical charm... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Los Alcatraces and and found the service and accommodations to be phenomenal! The location is only a few blocks back from the oceanfront, with it's hustle and bustle (and cost!) Greg and Silvia have a home located in a residential neighborhood where you get more of a true feel of the island -... More

What a wonderful place to stay. Everyone was so friendly and hospitable, breakfast was delicious and the room was comfortable and clean. The AC was super efficient and reliable. Only downfall was not much hot water, but then again, we were in Cozumel so it wasn't all that bad either!! It was an easy walk downtown from the home too!... More

This is our first time staying at Los Alcatraces Cozumel, and it was paradise. Yet, I'll admit, when I was booking our trip to Cozumel, I looked at other properties in the area just to see what else was out there. I found plenty of great places in Cozumel, but nothing and I mean nothing compared to what was waiting... More

We've just got back from 6 cracking days at Los Alcatraces. We were in Cozumel to dive and Greg and Silvia did their utmost to keep us well rested, fed and watered in between trips. The room was clean and tidy each day, and set back enough that it was quiet in the evenings. The pool outside was perfect for... More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in March. This was our first time staying at a B&B in Mexico as usually we stay at resorts. We are glad we tried it! The owners thought of everything a person possibly could need and it was for a great price. Our room was huge and super clean with tons of... More

From beginning to end we thoroughly enjoyed staying here in #1 at Silvia & Gregs. The room was big with a firm bed and plenty of storage. They also provided a mini fridge in the room which believe it or not, comes in handy. The pool was great for an afternoon/evening dip and drink. There is also a drying line... More

Spent about 3 weeks here in December 2015 - January 2016. Probably 2 weeks too long. Cozumel is for divers and since we are not divers and there is an absence of nice beaches, it was 2 weeks too long for us.

Gregory L, Owner at Los Alcatraces, responded to this review

Cozumel is very different from the mainland and has three distinct types of beaches: Sandy walk-in beaches on the west or leeward side of the island are the best. Snorkeling may be disappointing in the sandy areas since any disturbance on a sandy bottom [waves, walking, jumping, playing] suspends sand particles in the water which decrease visibility and make it... The amenities and hosts were wonderful. Perfect room with just what we needed to help us get away from it all. Host Greg gave us amazing food recommendations, rental car information, and the dive crew that could not have worked out better. Will definitely stay here again. Already I am feeling the need to get back to Cozumel and Los... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sandy beaches, stunning sunsets, and beautiful blue waters. All are on vibrant display at our tropical guest house at Los Alcatraces on Cozumel, Mexico’s largest Caribbean island. Perfect for a romantic getaway, our accommodations give you the privacy and safety of your own place, plus the convenience of having knowledgeable hosts on-site. Structured like a small boutique Hotel, each of our two en-suite bedrooms have their own private entrance. Guests share the pool, garden, and covered patio. HOTEL QUALITY WITH THE COMFORTS OF HOME The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with butter soft, 1000-thread count Egyptian cotton linens you can sink into after a long day. There is plenty of closet space for you to store your belongings as well as a locked safe for your more precious items. For an extra jolt in the morning, brew a fresh cup of organic coffee from Chiapas in the comfort of your own room. The en-suite bathroom is stocked with toiletries and towels so you don’t need to worry about taking up space in your suitcase! THE GREAT OUTDOORS...AND WE MEAN GREAT! Our relaxing garden is the perfect backdrop to start your day, watching hummingbirds whilst you sip your morning coffee. Since the average daily temperature in Cozumel is 75°F (24°C) or higher year-round, you’ll want to take a dip in our refreshing pool to cool down. We also have lounge chairs for you to work on your tan, too. If you would rather explore the Technicolor coral reefs in the Caribbean, we also have a rinse tank and clothesline to wash and dry your scuba gear after a busy day of diving. THE REAL COZUMEL Our guest house is located within walking distance of the town center. We’re just far enough away from all of the tourists to give you a taste of the real Cozumel. You can mingle with the locals at nearby markets and enjoy authentic cuisine. Cozumel is a scuba diver’s paradise! The island offers an array of beaches (many of the “iron-shore” variety), each teeming with intricate coral reefs and endless sightings of beautiful marine life. If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience on the beach, head over to a Beach Club. For a small fee, you can rent a lounge chair and unwind under the shade of a thatched roof. Whether you’re coming to get away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, or to explore the beauty Cozumel has to offer, we are here to assist you every step of the way. ... more   less
